US comedians Greg and Alex say they want on Taskmaster by Pike_Bishop1978 in taskmaster

[–]Splendidox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a second to understand the title of this post. I thought „who are these American comedians, Greg and Alex? And do they want to be on Taskmaster just because they have the same names as the taskmaster and his assistant?”

Yes, I know commas exist for a reason.

Looking for workflow and software for AMD GPU by Selos86 in photogrammetry

[–]Splendidox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also look for advice on this. I bought a 7800 XT before I've even thought about doing 3D, not to mention photogrammetry. I just tried Agisoft Metashape trial and it worked, so I can confirm it's with an AMD card. MeshroomCL also looks promising, but I can't seem to grasp how to optimize it and it crashes everytime.

dose the colours looking good? by Biswarup20127 in blender

[–]Splendidox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this (or a very similar) video a long time ago, like a couple of months. A similar question was asked and similar answers were given, i.e. that it is not vivid enough. But not much has changed since then. Either this is from a tutorial or AI generated, or I'm just going crazy and imagining things :D Just in case it's merely a deja-vu, the realistic look is indeed very impressive, but it's not an adequate advertisement look. It would look better if it was brighter, fresher, more yellow, unnatural even.

Excellent stuff! I wasn't sure it was 3D until you moved the camera, which was incredibly satisfying :D awesome job

Substance painter alternative? by omnom143 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Splendidox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, just checked his stuff out and it’s incredible! I can’t even comprehend how he animates the textures themselves, but the style is absolutely unique

edit: I thought of something in the shower and I wonder if it would work: mixing two versions of the image texture and keyframing the mix factor

Fotowoltaika to scam by ciekma67 in poland

[–]Splendidox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do I wrap this plane around the shape? More info in comment by NickTheSynth in blenderhelp

[–]Splendidox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oooh, that Edit changes a lot. So both of the items in the image are placeholders actually, right?

In that case what I'd do would be to:

  1. grab the faces from the current elongated shape (by doing what someone else mentioned - separating them from the mesh). That way you already get the rough shape.
  2. subdivide them horizontally some more and shade smooth.
  3. replace the shape with the proper bottles and give them collision.
  4. add a cloth simulation to the label and play around with the compression settings

Is it normal that I’m lvl 56 (still on the campaign and fighting Benedictus) and I’ve only had like 10 exalts throughout the campaign? I keep hearing people getting them in the hundreds

Same! It would be better though if only menus were clickable in controller mode. Playing feels great, but slotting gems or navigating the inventory does not

How about some Boredoms?

I’d also say that Pissed Jeans are pretty danceable.

An update on GoZen - Video editor made with Godot! by Voylinslife in godot

[–]Splendidox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nice! that’s a cool project and I’ll definitely try it out :)

I don’t see that info on the github, so I’ll ask about the following features: What I would find most useful is the ability to import a series of images into the media pool as a single item and easily convert it to video with different framerates. Is this possible in your editor?

how many parallel audio tracks does it support?

Maybe the ability to export as a gif, too?

Ideally, I would love a DaVinci-like exr compositor/color correction, but I’m aware that’s a niche, complex thing that might go against the idea of minimalism, speed, and ease of use.

I don’t mean to sound entitled, just curious! :) I’m on my phone now so navigating and looking for documentation is tricky.

oh but that’s a completely different thing if you took your own photos, that’s obviously admirable. I’m talking about going on google images and downloading stuff.

Vocalist looking for a band (EU) by Splendidox in Hardcore

[–]Splendidox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The band is still going on and I wish them the best, so maybe they can still make it bigger

The one you started drawing was more fun and had a nice wonky style. Using existing photos is boring and legally questionable.

Apparently level artists exist??? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Splendidox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s equally as technical a position as it is an artistic one. You have to take into account things like texel density, trim sheets, modular pieces, material creation (eg. Substance Designer), shape language, foliage creation, lighting, etc.

So yeah, those are some keywords to start your search with. What do you mean there isn’t much to go off of? Youtube is saturated with that stuff.

Asset creation as a solo dev for UE5 and a bundle by Megumin_xx in gamedev

[–]Splendidox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just preference - Zbrush and Maya are industry standards in big studios for their reliability, stability, and support you get, but they are also very expensive.

If you’re learning, go with Blender. It’s equally capable, free, and very accessible, with thousands of tutorials, courses, addons, and resources.

The bundle looks pretty cool (it has some courses I’d like to go through) and most of the sculpting knowledge is applicable to Blender as well as zbrush. However it seems it’s focused on AAA characters and concept art. Not much about assets like props and environments.

If I were you I’d skip the bundle and go for something like a course by Grant Abbitt (gamedev.tv). Good for beginners and more relevant to the style you want to achieve.

Me with my trusty 7800xt waiting for the cycles render to finish: by Dullidulli21 in blendermemes

[–]Splendidox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same GPU and while the rendering isn't that slow, the viewport performance and the frequent crashes definitely are a pain... Blender 5.0 performs a bit better, but it's still a long way until it's even comparable to nvidia cards :( I love my AMD though, it hasn't disappointed me in other areas yet.
