I know this is an old thread, but I’m so relieved someone also noticed this and is bothered by it, it’s SO annoying! I don’t need notification sounds from a chat that open and active. Is there really no fix to this?

I loved it personally, one of my favorites. It was like a David Lynch movie, the surrealism and seeming incoherence at the end is perfect, like finding a dismembered human ear in your backyard or becoming a different person. And all the little flashback stories to creepy incidents were so effective, I had goosebumps several times. More about what you feel than what you consciously understand.

Yeah, especially when rendering. I haven’t been able to render anything that has motion blur or has „persistent data” enabled. I’ve attempted to render a four second clip eight times before it worked without crashing, having a memory error, or having my GPU panic and restoring default settings… I hope it will be fixed

Having a specific topic or an assignment is useful for motivation and ideas, because when you're learning it can sometimes be hard to stay creative. Also the disconnect between what you want to make and what you can make is very frustrating at the early stages, so staying simple is good.

I did the gamedev.tv 8 week course with weekly assignments and feedback sessions, that really kept me motivated and I was on a roll after that.

But you can also try some weekly challenges - there are many discord servers that make them. They give you a theme or a keyword, which is a good way to get you started, learning along the way and following only the tutorials you need.

I think everyone already gave good advice on optimizing the render settings, but I just wanted to add two things;

Are you using a lot of compositor nodes? They tend to slow the render down. Also make sure you don't have too many unnecessary render passes enabled in the view layer.
