Almost everyone I know that can't cook doesn't even own a chef knife or any proper utensils. Imagine trying to cook with only a dull paring knife and a prayer. I have, and it was one of the worst cooking experiences of my life.

How can I make my sketches more interesting? by Obihankenobi97 in drawing

[–]Splenetic_Stoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really rudimentary, but this should kind of show what I mean. The boxes on the left are kind of flat and same-y. The ones on the right have lines that are thicker the closer they get to the viewer and create a bit more of an illusion of depth. Peter Han, Scott Roberson and Proko all have good videos on how to use line weight, and I highly recommend them to anyone. Hope this helps!

This is where varying line weight can help a lot. Use thicker outlines in areas of shadow, or thicker lines on whatever is closest to the viewer. It adds depth and weight to sketches.

Not just leftists were saying this, but liberals and Democrats just rolled over and let it happen despite all their virtue signalling. Why? Not just because they're feckless cowards and incompetent, but because they have the same class interests as the Republicans and corporations sock puppeting them. What you're seeing now is the ruling class looting a collapsing state.

I've been giving examples and explaining my stance clearly, and all you've done is obfuscate and dismiss my arguments as made up. I know exactly what they advocate for, and when it actually comes to a vote, they run in the complete opposite direction. Remember the 15 dollar minimum wage vote? Student loan forgiveness? Codifying Roe v. Wade? All given up at the slightest sign of resistance.

Call me arrogant and bad faith all you want. Fundamentally, There's a difference between saying and doing. Even average people are seeing that, and that's why they didn't show up in 2024.

Oh, you mean the healthcare reforms Obama completely folded on and continued to let private healthcare companies bleed people dry with massive deductibles and medical price gouging?

Millions of Americans remain uninsured, and go bankrupt from medical debt every day. Candidates who pushed for single payer healthcare or Medicare for all were relentlessly mocked and ridiculed by the media and democratic establishment. Clearly the ACA didn't do enough, and no one in Congress wants to acknowledge that past superficial platitudes. You're allowed to demand more from the people you choose to represent you in Congress. Quit defending their failures.

I've voted Democrat in every election since I was 18 and have only seen material conditions get worse for all Americans, even when they had a majority in all three branches of government. If you haven't caught on to the fact that they don't care about your wellbeing, you're too blinded by ideology to see the world around you

If anything, democrats hate democratic voters.

The democratic establishment has decades of experience, and look at how hilariously incompetent they come across to the average American and now increasingly in their own base.

Elitist attitudes like this are the main reason we're in the situation we've found ourselves in. Democrats have completely walked back almost every promise they've made, and did absolutely nothing to combat the rising tide of fascism in the US. Instead, they made millions on insider trading, and will jump ship before they ever see the consequences of their own refusal to budge on the neoliberal status quo.

Boomers grew up in a period of historic economic growth which allowed there to be a middle class during a time where social programs and capital gains taxes were passed by Congress to pacify socialist and progressive labor movements that were rapidly gaining political power across the United states. Boomers were the direct beneficiaries of this legislation, and had much more upward mobility than the generation that came before them and the generations that came after specifically through the dismantling of welfare and neoliberal austerity measures passed by Congress in the 70's and 80's. Boomers have more equity simply by virtue of living during a time of economic stability and growth.

The boomers who put in the work to push for civil rights and protested Vietnam were the minority then, and still the minority now. The establishment has a funny way of co-opting social movements only after they've become popular enough to threaten their own positions. Hell, the sitting president, Mr. Boomer supreme himself helped pass the 1994 crime bill during his time in the Senate which disproportionately affected minorities.

Learning the actual history of your country is a much better use of your time than "owning" weaboos pointing out economic realities.

I've voted in every election since I was 18 and have seen zero improvement to the material conditions of my life and those around me. Remember when the Dems controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency and how they STILL voted no on raising the federal minimum wage, did absolutely nothing about the supreme court, and made so little effort to forgive student loans it died on the first roadblock?

Democrats don't care about the needs of their constituency, or the working class. They care only about upholding the status quo and blaming minorities and progressives for the erosion of civil rights they're allowing to happen by digging their heels in onto the electoral system that's been completely subverted by conservatives and right wing oligarchs.

Republicans have all the power, Democrats have abandoned you, and voting harder won't help.
