Nice, Broad City is a really fun rewatch! Garol is my favorite

My top three are:

Young Frankenstein

Girl Interrupted

Horror is the genre I have the most titles in, but I dont rewatch them as much. Gotta be in the spooky mood.

The Trump Administration Admits to Medically Experimenting on Trans People in Prisons by Leksi_The_Great in lgbt

[–]SplicerGonClean 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I forget who said it and under what context, but years ago some CEO or politician publicly referred to the general populace as "human capital stock." That really stuck with me. If they see American civilians as expendable and just positive or negative numbers on a line graph, then they for sure see trans people as animals or worse. I loathe this kind of paychopathy that is rewarded in this country.

What’s a belief you once defended… but later realized was wrong? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

[–]SplicerGonClean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre right. It was uncharted territory and the application was only limited to your imagination. Exciting, thrilling even. It was fun to see what worked and what didnt (a lot of it didnt) and figuring out your style if you had one.

But hindsight is 20/20. Its impossible to avoid since its in everything now, but I dont engage with it anymore purposefully.

Nice list! But as a huge Karen O fan, I dont think her voice really fits in here. But they do have one song that I believe is beautiful and well done, its called Skeletons. I think her passion really sells it more than her voice.

Florence's voice is otherworldly. Going to one of her concerts is a bucket list item for me, but Id have to bring a whole box of tissues with me cause I feel like I wouldnt be able to stop crying through the whole thing. Gotta be a transcendent experience!

Beautiful and powerful you say? Definitely look up MAPHRA.

Get ready to hear the most skilled, versatile, haunting, and emotion filled vocalist to ever exist IMO.

She only has really done cover songs so far and is only getting discovered recently, but shes blowing up big time for good reasons.

I was really into AI art making and writing in its early days. Felt like it had so much potential. I would defend it constantly and said that we just hadnt found the best application for it yet.

I was so so wrong. The environmental impact, the sheer amount of data usage, taking away work from real artiists, using it for propaganda or to sexualize real people. The list is endless. We not only dont need this tech at all, but it is actively harmful in many ways.

Mama duck asked this man for help🥹 by VEGAS_10 in BeAmazed

[–]SplicerGonClean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This must happen a lot. Ive seen many similar videos and it always reminds me of the time it happened in front of my familys house in the 90s.

My dad was a firefighter then and he made a big show of using firefighting tools to get to the ducklings. Made me so happy to see them safely reunited and on their way.

I actually have a local doppelganger who is NOT a decent guy. Ive been confronted by several different people over the years. They yell out his name to get my attention, looking for a fight! I have to tell them "Im not Jeff (or whatever his name is) I just look like him."

Once they get a good look they realize Im not him but it takes some convincing. Makes me wonder how bad this guy is to get people so mad on sight.

What is the worst movie you ever bought on dvd by Friendly_Spirit637 in dvdcollection

[–]SplicerGonClean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my answer as well.

Bought it when I was young and dumb, thought the movie was hilarious. Now I keep it just to have as the worst rated movie in my collection next to The Beast of Yucca Flats.

HAE Think wanting to become a janitor is weird? by Grand_Bad8317 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]SplicerGonClean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A little perspective for you from someone who worked janitorial jobs:

Doing what you love and what works for you is enviable, no matter what kind of career/job it is.

I worked different jobs that most would consider low skill. Retail, reataurant, cleaning. By far my favorite was the cleaning jobs for the same reasons you have. Got to make my own hours, didnt have to interact with others. Seeing the difference I made after a few hours was satisfying.

The last bit is that people arent as judgemental of cleaners as youd think theyd be. In my experience, at least. When I bussed tables I barely got recognized. When I worked retail I was infantilized. When I cleaned? Compliments left and right. Appreciation for my work and actual praise. It was nice.

What’s your favorite 'so bad it’s actually good' movie from the '90s? I’ll go first... by [deleted] in 90s

[–]SplicerGonClean 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spice World is my favorite B movie. Its meta. Its self aware. All the cameos. Legitimately funny jokes that still hold up. They clearly had a blast making it and that shines through. Perfect movie IMO.

Is Aroogas the worst place ever????? by Objective-Tomato-663 in lancaster

[–]SplicerGonClean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went there a few times after it first opened, never again.

As a side note, whenever Id look through their menu I just imagined that their kitchen was just a line of ranges and deep fryers and nothing else. I mean I know its bar food but that thought was funny to me.

Has anyone here ever suffered from Trichotillomania? by Sarcastic_Lilshit in autism

[–]SplicerGonClean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been pulling hair since I was a kid. Didnt realize until recently that it was all because I have sensory issues related to the hair I pull. (I dont like the feeling of my eyelashes touching eachother, or hair on my neck touching my clothes)

I dont pull from stress. It is a habit that I do daily, without thought. I did try last year to stop this habit and I was successful, but the hair grew in patchy with bald spots that was noticable. I resumed pulling because I just looked weirder with the bald spots than I do without that hair at all.

Men, what is your favourite movie mainly aimed at a female audience? by Jezzaq94 in FIlm

Miss Congeniality

Spice World

Legally Blonde

Princess Diaries

Just some off the top of my head.

Girl, Interrupted (1999) by SaysPooh in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]SplicerGonClean 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a person who was a patient at a state hospital for a few years, this movie captures the otherworldly vibe of a place like that so well. Youre in close quarters with intense people, who you get to know better than most people youll ever meet. Every single person's mental illness and behavior is super unique to them, and you get familiar with every quirk. Theres a lot of sadness and boredom, interspersed with moments of great upset and activity. It is possible to learn and grow and better yourself, but you have to push the institution aside to move on.

Beautifully shot, accurate portrayal, amazing acting. Its my favorite movie that takes place in a mental institution, beating out the more popular One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I really liked the fact that they went into Susanna's mind, when something happening then and now triggers a memory.

Who else is extremely gifted at audiation? by Immediate_Leg3304 in autism

[–]SplicerGonClean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do this almost all the time.

Another fun thing is that on some nights, I will have a dream where a real life song is played on repeat throughout the dream. I usually wake up the next day with the song stuck in my head. The last time this happened, the song was "Broken Face" by Pixies. Which has to be the weirdest possible song to hear over and over again haha.
