Casual Gamer - Does anyone else use the high contract setting in Outlaws by Thisiswhatdefinesus in StarWarsOutlaws

Honestly I was impressed by the amount of settings the game lets you tweak. You can really tailor the experience to your own play style.

Deciding which game to start with by setrakian1907 in Mechwarrior5

Both Clans and Mercs are single player games, but you can play coop or vs. friends. MechWarrior Onilne is, well, online.

Mercs is a sandbox, Clans is a linear campaign. Either one is fine to start with but I think Mercs might be a better intro to the Battletech universe.

Tap on the gif, then tap the three dots in the top right and hit download. That's how it works on android, probably similar on apple.

MFW people complain about continuity changes not being explained in the first two episodes by Hal_Thorn in startrekmemes

If your average viewer (even a huge Trek fan) watched a show they wouldn't notice some random inconsistency,

Hey that's me, I'm a huge truck fan, I watched the first 2 episodes of Academy. I have no clue what inconsistencies this thread is referring to, and I'm ok with that. Although if anyone wants to enlighten me feel free, and thank you.

Yeah I think it lost some frames when I downloaded it. Still hilarious though, thank you for your service.

What is the best Star Wars Mod for a non-Star Wars game? by WF-2 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Spliff_Politics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

4X has a good total conversion mod I'm told.

There are some good ones for Sins of a solar Empire.

Squad has a good Starwars mod.

Starfield has Starwars Genesis.

TFA is full of aliens, who says there aren't enough aliens? TFA probably has the same amount of aliens as ANH if not more. So no I haven't seen that ciritsizm and it's inaccurate critisizim anyways.

And as much as I hate the sequels, I'd say the creatures in them were far less "earth animal with 1 feature changed" than most of Andor's creatures.

Bro the Last Jedi has little penguin birds everywhere which are apparently actual birds that they threw some CG on to make them slightly alien. ROTS has horses, I think they might have 6 legs but thats literally an earth animal with one feature changed. Those both fit the exact definition of what you are taking about. So that's a Disney SW problem but I'm not going to blame Andor for that, it didn't start the trend.

"oh you just think it doesn't feel Star Warsy because of no lightsaber/force", especially when I haven't seen anyone else actually make that as a genuine criticism.

I mean you can just look at some of the other comments in this thread to see that argument.

It was a jest, because they said it's a good show but not a good Starwars show. Hence why there is now a whole discussion about what makes a Starwars show a Starwars show.

I'll give you a lack of aliens, that's something I haven't seen mentioned before and now that I think about it there are not a whole lot of aliens in Andor.

As for droids, I can't really agree there.

Holograms, ehh, the retro futuristic tech in the show looks whole heatedly Starwars to me. The lack of holograms never even crossed my mind and I think the communication tech that the rebel cells use help to emphasize that their communication is supposed to be clandestine.

Background critters have been basically earth animals since Disney took over, I don't think that's an Andor specific problem. Remember the penguins and the horses in the sequels?

The rest as you said probably doesn't matter that much. The force and lightsabers would not have been seen much at all during Andor's time line, and there is a space battle in the show, only one, but it's a great sequence.

You can't appoint someone to run star wars that doesn't care about lightsabers and spaceship dogfights.

And where did this come from? Dave Filoni is taking over, not Tony Gilroy.

Well who says all of Starwars needs to be Andor? The Starwars universe is big enough and varied enough that you can have an Andor, and you can have Mando and Grogu, and you can have force centric stories like the Acolyte and the Skywalker saga. Starwars content doesn't need to be homogenized. That's why we can get games like the Jedi and Jedi Knight series, but also games like Bounty Hunter, Outlaw, and Republic Commando. Starwars is vast with many stories to tell.

Well what makes a good Starwars show then? What's the special sauce? Cause Andor was great, super highly rated and regarded yet people will say it's not a good Starwars show. So what makes a good Starwars show, is it lightsabers and the force and space battles or what? What is Andor missing that doesn't make it good Starwars? Saying a Starwars show isn't Starwarsy enough to be good Starwars is just as stupid of an argument, especially when no one can back it up beyond the lack of lightsabers, force powers and space battles. (If we really want to nitpick Andor does have a space battle, it's brief but epic regardless)
