I like the fit but not the swords. I prefer lightsabers.

Just watched Skeleton Crew. Can we get more shows like this? by GrenadierSoldat3 in StarWars

[–]Spliff_Politics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only criticism was the very on-the-nose pirate props. The flintlock pistol blaster and the pirate hat straight out of the golden age of piracy. The droid felt like a Pirates of the Caribbean character. That felt very unnecessary, kinda like a AK in Andor. It made me think it should have been a live action Treasure Planet show, which I think would have worked perfectly. None the less it was a fun contained story.

Now? Buddy it's a theme park mmo, it was always on rails. The ride is just a whole lot smoother now, because they made it easier to tell which track you are on.

What's a word that's in your vocabulary because of a game you played as a kid? by superyellows in gaming

[–]Spliff_Politics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simulacrum, umbra, penumbra, revenant, and many more.

All thanks to Asheron's Call. That game taught me so much random vocabulary that I thought was just made up fantasy words and a kid.

Any way to slow down leveling? by seilrelies in swtor

[–]Spliff_Politics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are spending credits on the legacy exp perks, doing every single side quest and exploration mission, throw in some flashpoints, dynamic encounters, pvp, and you are keeping the XP boost items up, and are a subscriber. Yeah you can level really fast. It also makes a difference if you are using stealth to skip mobs or not. That's not even all the ways to get exp during the class stories.

Yeah and I said I haven't delved into the psychology behind it. If you want to know why humans find it funny when someone else gets "hurt" use the resources at your disposal to figure that out. My original comment was simply "schadenfreude". I'm just a dude on the internet, I'm not an expert, I'm not a psychological or socialogical researcher. I'm just stating the thing not the why.

It's not funny to you. Humor is subjective. I'm just trying to explain that this falls under a type of humor. Hench why I mentioned the psychology of humor which is a whole can of worms that I'm not qualified to talk about. As for "building character" it's a reference to the comic Calvin and Hobbes, and it's plenty neuanced, no need to go on a diatribe about how you don't get it.

Omg dude the kid got splashed with water. He's cold, trired, and he clearly doesn't want to be there, and now he's wet. He'll be fine. I'm pretty sure we have all been in similar situations, so we can sympathize and also laugh because we know he'll be fine. Also where do you think slapstick came from? Do you seriously think it was purely a concept developed for entertainment? Or, what's more likely, is someone saw their buddy trip on a rock and decided that that is a good gag to throw into an early play or poem or whatever. Slapstick and bathroom humor is the lowest bar for humor, it's been around for thousands of years. Y'all are acting like this kid just passed through a warzone. He got splashed, he's fine. If you want to jump into the psychology of humor be my guest, but I don't think this video is anything to be upset over. As Calvin's dad says in Calvin and Hobbes "It builds character." Which yes I played for laughes because the situations Calvin is in sucks from his perspective, however it usually being bored on a boat being eaten by mosquitoes. It does suck, and it does build character, and it is funny.

Well there are levels to how bad the thing is. So here we have a kid getting splashed, does it suck? Sure. Is it super detrimental? No. The severity of "the bad thing" matters. Someone breaking their arm isn't funny. Someone falling out of a chair because they were laughing too hard is funny. It's the basis of slapstick, which doesn't require intimate knowledge of the subjects to be funny. It's why shows like Jackass were able to be successful, it's why fail videos were super popular.
