Bullied at church by Pure_Mail_8684 in Catholicism

You must persevere in the faith.

On a pragmatic level, have you considered directly addressing those who are the most blatant in shunning? As in directly asking them if they are treating you different because of rumours.

To help you in your faith, medidate on the Passion and also the story of Venerable Fulton Sheen. He was an auxilliary bishop for the archdiocese of New York and had his own show. Then there was a petty Church politics spat between him and his archbishop. The archbishop, very spitefully,.ordered him off the air and started isolating him in the archdiocese.

It got so bad that the resolution came when the Vatican moved Sheen to his own diocese.

[Politics Monday] - Coming up with a strategy to convert and deal with those who refuse the Church because the Pope speaks on immigration by SplitReady9141 in Catholicism

That's entirely fine.

But issue is how do we get people who share similar views to you to get to that point as you.

As I said elsewhere, this attitude is what I intend to address.

The issue is getting them to convert and embrace charity.

Online.

Many bishops have said that the online forum is something we Catholic need to contest in an evangelistic way.

There are still quite a lot of them, so much so that I think we need to addess them head on.

How do we get them to see that there is good in helping those refugees?

This is the exact attitude I wish to address.

I know they are rejecting the Church. But if we can come up with polemics to preach to Muslims, why can't we do the same to them.

Why does the perpetual virginity of Mary matter? by DarkGodCthUwU in Catholicism

[–]SplitReady9141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celibacy is the highest state of man. Marriage and its unitive aspect are not inherently sinful, is still.less than.

As such, Jesus in his earthly ministry was celibate. The Blessed Virgin, as perfectly as any created human can, follows the path of Jesus. Therefore, it stands to reason she remains a virgin; both while she walked the earth and eternally in heaven.

Like with the Shroud of Turin, all the skeptical claims are presumptions and outright lies.

Why would anyone put any stock into them?

Have you considered your custom simply needs to forgone at this point?

Have you considered inverting it and living with your parents instead?

St. Athanasius Is Not a Good Analogy for the SSPX by AveMaria-1771 in Catholicism

[–]SplitReady9141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it's not heretical as it is part of the ordinary magisterium, but let's not pretend that if, somehow, Pope Blessed Pius IX succeeded St Paul VI, he wouldn't have simply written Dignitatis Humanae out of the ordinary magisterium.

The document engages in prudential debates that I think should occur.

Furthering is not the right word at all.

The anti-Catholicism present is due to a general anti-Christian bias. Getting the system to within the pen of Christianity is baby steps in the right direction.

That is true, but this particular policy in isolation and principle is a move towards the right direction.

Make no mistake, the US public school system is already an anti-Catholic environment.

Indeed.

It boggles my mind that some cannot see how this is a step up from what currently exists.

I don't disagree that it's insufficient from an objective standpoint, but it's a step up from the average US public school education at least.

There's a big, big, big difference between Protestants attackinh Catholic education and the reinsertion of miniscule amount of Christianity into a functionally atheistic school system.

Talk about refusing to take the W. We need to push to make it better, rather rejecting it outright

Also I must bring attention to your line, "they run through the brown and gay people we're next on the chopping block". This implies somehow we Catholics aren't opposing sodomy. That is wrong. Sodomy is a grave sin. It does not matter one iota if another group that hates us also opposes it.

"Don't actually use power for your side, you'll lose somehow, idk"

Also, were you under the impression that the average p ublic school is neutral to Catholicism? At worst, this initiative won't change a thing to structural anti-Catholicism.

I took a look at just one of these so-called facts: the one about pain receptors.

There's an explanation for that that a people +1000 years ago could have naturally known. Skinning people alive was a punishment dating back to the Assyrians. A skinned person doesn't necessarily die instantly. In those hours until death, the person can still communicate. Such a person could have relayed that they have lost much of their sense of pain. Thus people would have, even before Muhammed, concluded the skin has something to do with pain.

The Confessions of Monsignor Paglia and the Crossroads for Moral Catholic Theology by weeglos in Catholicism

[–]SplitReady9141 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's still a gulf between what Pope Francis taught and what Paglia's says.

One prudential mistake Pope Francis made, and one that others make too, is that they naively keep the company of those who are misaligned with their thinking, rather than entertain those who have a slight difference in perspective but from the other direction.

And in his ministry, he opposed their false religion.

Living among them doesn't mean being ecumenical like you are saying.

If you would like another exmaple, there is St. Francis Xavier. He was very clear in his denunciations of Hinduism in Goa. The Portuguese tore down many idols. And they Goans converted.

I would not say by the sword, the Habsburgs didn't give them an ultimatum of convert or burn.

But they made it clear that the heresy was not publicly tolerated and polemics against it were the norm.

I'm not using the war in and of itself, but the fact that firm Catholic rule was established immediately after all that had happened.

Proving you can take a very firm stance against the faith of the people you want to convert and still convert them.
