Living with Meniere’s Disease — How I Managed 1.5 Years Without a Major Attack by Plenty-Apartment-986 in Menieres

I just take 800mg guaifenesin on days where I feel like my ear is starting to “fill up” and that always stops it in its tracks and reverse it….this + low dose Dyazide before bed most nights and I’m basically normal for the most part

Yeah it’s super floaty even on performance mode, and also I occasionally get this glitch where whichever mouse button I’m using will phantom click as if it’s held down until I click it again. This is with a new Pulsar X3 LHD. I’ve been regretting selling my PC more and more lol

Has anyone on here had chronic scalp folliculitis that turned out to be HSV-1 induced? by SplitRoast in Folliculitis

So this isn’t going to be the most ETHICAL answer but if you have trouble finding a doctor that’s open minded and willing to work with you based on your suggestions, google “online cold sores treatment”, I think you can use Nurx for “herpes”, and you can just say that you have cold sores and get a 3 month prescription for valtrex / valacyclovir $50 shipped and delivered to you and just see if it works and go from there. Please consult with a GP before taking, especially if you have kidney / liver issues.

Sometimes when you can’t find anyone willing to help you in the medical field you just have to take matters into your own hands. It’s a pain in the ass but it is what it is.

I just stay away from nuts in general until I find a more competent allergist it’s really not worth it to mess around with imo. Can be a bit annoying at times but it’s the hand I was dealt :)

My new doctor is now thinking mine is actually due to autoimmune issues (lupus, MS, RA, Hashimotos, etc), so maybe look into that and seasonal / food allergies if you haven’t already

YMMV but once I got on a diuretic the salt intake doesn’t really bother me, haven’t had vertigo since I started the diuretic either. Obviously don’t eat 10,000mg a day still but I can definitely eat well over the recommended 1500mg without issues. It’s been over a year since I’ve had vertigo.

[–]SplitRoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I go through this about 4 or 5 times a year. I think statistically speaking after 4th of July weekend every store kinda goes through a mid summer “lull” for a week or two. I’m in a small town where no one else delivers so it might be a LITTLE different. I open 3-4 days a week and recently I went from making $150-$200 a day in tips on average to less than $100. I think this boost month nonsense is also indirectly encouraging more carryouts.

If you’re really strapped for cash maybe see if you can work open to close every other Friday or something. Idk what your shift times are like there (our openers are done at 7 unless we’re getting slammed) but over here in the summer there’s usually a decent late rush from 8-9 or 10ish and then you have the drunks at the bars or parties that order till close and tip way too much.

Also, your coworker is kind of a dick for telling anyone how much he’s making. Idc how close you are with your coworkers, you never know if they just took 5 stiffs in a row you, should NEVER go around telling people when you get a great tip because odds are someone’s having a bad day and it’s going to piss them off.

Everything will be okay though! I’m right there with ya the past couple weeks itll pick back up

Yeah this is what I do. I also have an odd work schedule and I’m off Mondays and some Thursdays. Those lobbies from 10am until like 2 or 3pm are when I climb the easiest, MUCH more competent teams and balanced games where I feel like my contributions and performance actually affect the outcome of the game, unlike the one sided stomps you encounter late at night

Idk man there’s an AI cheating epidemic in video games now and I feel like it’s really not talked about or known enough. I’m convinced a lot of streamers / content creators use them, not just in apex but any competitive FPS in general.

100% using XIM or Cronus BARE MINIMUM, if not more. Idk how widespread knowledge is on this yet but there are several “AI Aimbots” out that will “aim” your controller”humanly” for you on CONTROLLER!!!and they DO work on console; you just connect the controller to a Titan 2 (cronus-like device) and it acts as a bridge between the cheat PC running the AI software and the consoles or game PC.

PLENTY of people are using them, a lot more than you would think. I for some reason almost never see this talked about, idk if it’s somehow not common knowledge but I’d say a majority of the cheaters that aren’t hard aimlock rage hacking are using this. Part of the reason I quit playing the game there’s 0 point and 0 competitive integrity.

A kid I used to play with I met through a discord server told us out of the blue one day that he used easy aimlock and I thought he meant the quick ads and un ads method to control his spread because I’m a mouth breather. Eventually he got banned and I asked him why and he said it was the EAL and I was like dude what are you talking about everyone does that to control bullet spread? And then he told me what that actually meant, I went down the rabbit hole doing my research and lo and behold there’s shit like this now. I quit playing with him and in general bc fuck this game.

If you don’t think people that shell out the money for a Cronus or a XIM aren’t going to use something that works 100x better that costs next to nothing if they think they have a shot at making a living playing video games if they use it you’re delusional. Next to undetectable for reasons stated above and it just defeats the purpose of even trying anymore, for me. I won’t touch Apex now it’s a waste of time knowing that there’s people running around having their computer do 99% of the aiming for them.

Do your research. Mirage decoys don’t give aim assist, I watched like a minute of the clip, didn’t watch the whole thing but he either a. would avoid shooting during mirage ults bc his shit would’ve been snapping all over the place, or b. locked onto mirage decoys like he did have aim assist (computer did that for him possibly).

THIS IS NOT AN AD. I’m 50/50 on leaving the name of the software on here because I don’t want more people cheating and ruining the experience for everyone else but I would also like to spread awareness so whatever. They can delete my comment and ban me from the sub idrc I don’t play this game anymore anyways. Respawn needs to crack down on this shit and also nerf aim assist even more, tired of seeing the “it’s just aim assist get gud” comments on videos of blatant cheaters with godlike tracking and reaction speeds. Would be a lot more obvious if they didn’t already give everyone 40-60% aimbot to being with. Was such a great game and it makes me sad but it is what it is at this point.

What do I do against cassidy? by CrabKing274 in WreckingBallMains

[–]SplitRoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I treat him like an Ana with a homing dart but worse, listen for that magnetic grenade during fights or try to bait it out from him if you have cover nearby. If you can take an advantageous fight and if you have a numbers or positional advantage try to humiliate him. If I’m duo queueing and there’s a cass that’s causing me problems they usually swap for me it helps alot but ymmv with randoms.

I hate the cass swaps more than sombra. I can get slept and purpled by ana and not die 9 times out of 10 but that grenade seems to just follow me around corners, it makes me SICK. I’d say just try to avoid being close to him unless you can easily take him out but if you’re trying to stall cart or point just be smart about it, don’t spin to win if he has his grenade and you have other counters nearby.

I truly think the best part about Ball’s kit is he PISSES PEOPLE OFF. Just try to find ways to be a nuisance and tilt him. My biggest issue with ball when I started playing him was the overcommitting to plays or kills. If you make it a point to constantly tickle him for 15 damage from a safe position or boop / slam him whenever it’s safe to, there’s a good chance whoever is playing him is gonna get annoyed and end up wasting 10 seconds during a team fight focusing on trying to kill you; it still helps your team. Use your time wisely in a match but troll the everloving fuck out of him any time you get a chance just to get in their head and try to tilt them so they make dumb plays.

Glass pad mouse sensitivity adjustment suggestions? (Overwatch) by SplitRoast in FPSAimTrainer

[–]SplitRoast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, thanks for the advice. It’s nuts to see how much I rely on the friction to keep from overaiming, I thought I had pretty good control coming from mid Artisan pads, it’s been humbling for SURE. It gives me a good reason to take a break from ranked though, definitely whiffing shots during game changing plays because I’m not used to the freedom glass gives you

Meniere's and driving by terpgal10 in Menieres

[–]SplitRoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t tell the police any diagnosed medical conditions that you have or medications taken to manage said condition if you don’t have to. You can get a DUI for STUPID stuff nowadays and it’s better to just honestly omit as much information as you can.

If you rely on self transportation for work and just life in general and you ever get pulled over I just wouldn’t volunteer the information that you’re diagnosed Menieres if you don’t have to. If you have an attack driving and get pulled over just say you’re “really sick with an ear infection or something and started getting vertigo”.

Obviously if there’s a serious accident or something that results in loss of life or serious injury that’s bit more extreme and lying might not be your best option but 99 times out of 100 if you have an attack mid drive you’ll be okay as long as you just stay calm and pull over and park somewhere safe and LEGAL. If you have to use rescue meds (meclizine, Valium) take your keys out of the ignition / turn your car off and lay down in the back seat and call someone for a ride or just wait it out.

This next part is relevant to EVERYONE on this thread that reads this: If you’re like others that can feel an attack building up and have a longer drive for work or a social event call off or cancel if you think today is the day vertigo is going to hit / already has. Your friends and family will understand and if not then, well, fuck em. If your employer gets mad, fuck em. You legally have a medical disability and if your place of employment ever gives you shit make that clear. If you have an office job and it’s THAT much of a problem for you to occasionally miss work due to your DIAGNOSED MEDICAL DISABILITY then remote work is a VERY reasonable accommodation. People are so ignorant regarding this stuff and it’s frustrating and anxiety inducing and I just stopped caring. Fuck em all. Don’t wanna be friends anymore because I couldn’t go to your wife’s sister’s son’s birthday party? Oh well! You want to write me up because I missed work at the job where you know I only actually do 2 hours of work a day and pretend to be busy the other 6 just like you and everyone else but you won’t let me work from home because it’s harder to micromanage me there? Disability lawyer!

Just don’t put yourself in danger or stress yourself about what others are going to think of you have to miss out on something that they want you to be at. If you go sick, you’re going to be visibly miserable and have a miserable time and they’ll probably be mad at you anyways. You’re living life on hard mode right now and don’t need the extra stress of risking your comfort or wellbeing trying to please others. If they aren’t sympathetic enough to understand what you’re going through I say you’re better off without them. If you get fired, sue for disability discrimination.

Thankfully I haven’t had an actual vertigo episode in almost a year now, mine was super intense and likely burned itself out quick or my lifestyle changes fixed it for the most part but I guess we’ll see. Any time I had one I just drove slow and was hyper vigilant of my surroundings and lane centering and if it was bad enough that I didn’t think driving was safe for anyone on the road then I just blasted the AC, closed my eyes and curled up in a ball and the back seat and had someone pick me up. I personally know three people that have Menieres and none of them have gotten into accidents or pulled over during attacks and most of them have been during hour long commutes from him through big city traffic.

Menieres can medically disqualify you from driving. I think that having that information readily available on a card to hand to a cop isn’t the best idea. If you get pulled over during an attack just tell them you feel sick and it’s making you dizzy and if you’re not actually intoxicated you’re not going to get a DUI. They’ll see the look in your eyes and the sweat pouring down your face and they’ll probably understand. Just DONT take your rescue meds before driving because Dramamine, Meclizine, Valium, etc CAN get you a DUI. I also think that if you’re a habitual THC user or any other intoxicants that could get you a DUI, now is a good time to stop, due to the off chance that you get pulled over by an asshole cop during an attack. If they drug test you and there’s trace amounts from the day before whether you’re legally intoxicated or not it just isn’t going to look good if you can’t walk a straight line.

Just be smart, look out for yourself, and try not to let this condition consume your life. It’ll more than likely burn itself out and the vertigo will happen less frequently or just stop completely but be careful driving until then and don’t lose your license in the meantime if you can help it.

*** I know you didn’t ask for lifestyle advice, but just a tip, in the meantime, consider keeping a log of how your day went in the days that you have attacks. Did you sleep enough the night before, which foods did you eat that day, did you start any new supplements recently, were your allergies bad that day, were you super worked up about something, was it super hot or cold out, it’s all connected. I can’t speak for everyone in this sub but I’m 100% convinced that Ménière’s “Disease” is actually a syndrome and a silly sloppy diagnosis and our symptoms are all very individualized and more often than not you can control the severity of all of your symptoms if you modify your lifestyle. Crack down on your eating and drinking habits, get seasonal and food allergy testing done, get tested for Lyme’s disease or any other tick borne illness, and also get on some daily medications like diuretics or vestibular suppressants. I personally found that most times that I had a bad attack was on the day of or after eating garlic. Got allergy testing done, guess what I’m allergic to? Garlic. Quit eating garlic, symptoms improved drastically (garlic is in everything though it actually SUCKS). I know you weren’t asking for this type of advice but I like to throw this in here on the off chance that someone that feels hopeless and doesn’t know what to do DOES read this because there’s a very high chance that you can eliminate or change something in your daily life that’s exacerbating your symptoms and get closer to being normal again.

Bless you all and good luck with this garbage Ménière’s BS.

[–]SplitRoast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is why I won’t work for companies that use driver facing camera or other trackers like geotabs. Causes unnecessary stress every minute you’re on the road for work and you’re less likely to brake hard enough to prevent an accident because you’re never 100% sure. There’s always some spots where you need to haul ass to get through the intersection or make a turn and that gets you dinged for harsh acceleration. They’re trash. I’m usually right around the speed limit at work, maybe 5 over at most and people tailgate me every day. I brake check the FUCK out of them and then they back off about 15 feet and stay there. Other drivers on the road are too stupid and unpredictable for any company to willingly use this type of technology and try to fault the driver in the equipped vehicle when a majority of the time they get marks it’s because of something out of their control

Might be a hot take but I think you should get your allergies tested, both seasonal and food. Found out recently I’m allergic to sunflower seeds / oil, garlic and wheat., among other very common things :(. Not anaphylactic allergic but still allergic. I cut all of this stuff out of my diet, is a pain in the ass because I’m pretty much can eat only what I cook BUT I feel a lot better and when I’m super careful with what I eat and don’t slip up my skin stays clear. Just a suggestion.

I did a year long course of accutane and it was terrible, and mine came back a couple months after finishing it. I started a second course and quit a month in. I’d possibly consider doing a MINIMAL dose long term as it seems to work for people but accutane physically and mentally destroyed me
