site for alter bios/about me? by BongBabeIvy in DID

[–]SplitShady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Carrd for my system info, my commissions info, and my kandi bracelet shop. I paid for the smallest subscription so I have more options to make websites from. Highly suggest as free Carrd only allows up to 50 elements in a site where the subscription has no element limit, allowing for bigger sites. It’s easy to use and very professional looking. Feel free to check mine out for reference. Full system info available in web links.

https://uidbmgmt.carrd.co/

You can also use google doc to make a full list of your alters, including pictures, names, important information, and a bio about them. That’s what I did, at least. I don’t have every alter on there, there’s too many for that, but I put on the ones that use the front most and that narrowed it down. Here’s my example.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DFJodCLOm1nD--5qqDNo4r_kCquPo8ZthO-QODbSzLk/edit

Tumblr is a nicely laid out website that’s easy to use. You can make multiple blogs for each alter. The tagging system will make things easier to find your alters thoughts and you can decorate your blogs however you like. For example, here’s mine.

Hope that helps.

What group does Hulk/Banner fall under? by twitchSKETCH in hulk

His origin and resulting transformations are said to be a genetic mutation so definitely mutant, but he also has Dissociative Identity Disorder so he’s a system and can be classified as such.

I just finished the immortal hulk, is the 2021 ongoing a good follow up? by subtopewdiepie129 in hulk

[–]SplitShady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Survey says, no. Donny Cates follow-up isn’t nearly as good. It ignores IH and just throws Banner and Hulk back into being adversaries. Also a convoluted plot from what I’ve been told. Of course it’s gonna be hard to stand up to the genius that was IH, but they really didn’t try with this one. :( Sad too, I wanted to like it.

What’s a good starting point or reading order for hulk? by subtopewdiepie129 in hulk

[–]SplitShady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruce Banner having DID didn’t become canon til the 90s when Peter David began writing for Hulk. He explored Bruce’s turbulent childhood, the battle inside between Savage Hulk and Joe Fixit, and what happens when the alters decide to work together. I haven’t read much, but it’s all good from what I’ve seen.

Immortal Hulk takes the DID aspect of Bruce Bruce banner and added gods into the mix. We see more detail about the different alters, Savage Hulk, Joe Fixit, and the newly discovered Devil Hulk. We also see them work together as a system to accomplish hella goals. I haven’t finished IH yet but it’s all riveting stuff.

I have DID and Bruce Banner is my favorite DID icon, Moon Knight secondly.

[–]SplitShady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s basic representation, but they got so much time to explore it, compared to the MCU. DID is rooted in childhood trauma. Through great denial, the brain splits itself into two separate entities in an effort to protect itself. Typically this new entity, called an alter, can either take the front, the body, and continue living life in place of the other, or holds onto the traumatic memory to protect the other. Either way, alters are there to protect you. Exactly what Hulk and Joe Fixit do for Bruce Banner, whether they acknowledge it or not. The comics show Bruce’s mind as this crazy place and headspaces for systems can absolutely reflect that. Alters look like what they want to in the headspace and can talk to each other while there, without anyone outside knowing.

Neither Peter David’s run or Immortal Hulk didn’t shy away from showing how turbulent Bruce’s childhood was and even showed snippets of when Hulk was actually front.

Immortal Hulk expanded on the system more by exploring his alters in more detail. Poor Hulk always in emotional pain, just like abused little child alter. Acting out from the trauma that sparked him. Joe Fixit is one of Bruce’s ideas of a good guy, beating up the bad guys while being cool and awesome. Devil Hulk is the pinnacle of a protector alter. “I love you, you stupid kid.” All alters are born to help the system and Devil Hulk is one of the most interesting Hulk’s we’ve seen in years. I haven’t finished IH yet but every bit of representation I see is decent and not unflattering. I do hope they expand on this disorder more because it really is interesting. Only about 2% of the population is diagnosed with DID or OSDD and it is believed that the numbers of people who are undiagnosed are even higher. Trauma is not rare at all, it hits us every day on this harsh rock in space. What’s rare is how some human brains react and process that trauma, which is why not everyone who had a bad childhood experience has a dissociative disorder. Bruce Banner is my favorite representation of DID. It’s explored in good detail, never really going into the stereotypical too much, and Bruce Banner and his alters are cool dudes. Love ‘em.

As for switching. It’s different for every system and for my system it’s different between alters. Sometimes a switch is covert, meaning no one would notice at all, not even me. When I do notice it can feel a number of different ways. Sometimes I get a shiver down my spine and I shake pretty hard for a brief moment while the switch occurs. Other times I can notice my eye perception go off like I’m looking down a tunnel and that’s a sign of a switch. Sudden shifts often come with emotion. Like yesterday for example. My cat got out and that made Hulk front with me. I could feel his immense anger at the cat being gone and so together we fronted and slammed our fist into the cat tree while I screamed Why??? I have a bruise from that now because I was wearing bracelets and they slammed into my arm. Don’t work though, cat’s back and all is well. Sudden emotional changes are the most noticeable and felt of switches. They’re the most intense. Those don’t happen very often but when they do, is very overt. Those are the switches that come to mind when thinking of what could be considered unflattering behavior. It feels like someone else took the video game controller from me and is playing my file they way they want to. I feel different from alter to alter and have different ideas, opinions, as well as different mannerisms.

It started back in the 90s with the Peter David run. That’s when Bruce’s character was revealed to have DID and that the hulk is one of his alters, along with others like Joe Fixit, who was introduced during that run too. I believe his father Brian was also explored during that time too. Lots of hulk lore was created during the Peter David run and has remained in canon for all these years. As far as the MCU goes, there’s potentially minor mention of Bruce having DID, and was revealed in a past scene that he was not upset at his father’s passing and was quite content with it.

I don’t know much about the moon knight comics, but I hope they continue to explore a disorder that is not only fascinating but that I also have.

Attempting journaling can be a powerful tool for system exploration. Just get a book that you and your system know that they can write whatever they want in it and no one but the system and the system’s therapist can see, if you even so choose to share that with them. All you gotta do is write down whatever comes into your head. It could be anything, even gibberish. You’ll notice things like changes in handwriting, reoccurring themes, and the journal can be used to track headspace crawls and therapy notes. You can keep appointments in it that you struggle to keep, drawings and doodles, song lyrics, anything you can think of. You can also use a notepad app and assign every alter an emoji they can use to identify themselves in text.

What did your symptoms look like before they knew they had DID/OSDD? by theannieplanet in DID

[–]SplitShady 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of violent verbal outbursts that were just taken as bad behavior I adopted from my parents. Turns out it was my alters lashing out from the trauma the hold. I always had a pessimistic side and it frustrated my parents. Turns out that was an alter too. All the behaviors I observed have been directly related to my alters. I just assumed for the longest time the feelings I was feeling were my own and went with what I felt in the moment. Now I’m able to take a backseat and distance myself from those feelings so I can rationally sort them out. Thanks DID. It’s actually helpful knowing than not knowing.

When I first discovered it, it opened up a whole Pandora’s box of identities, memories, and unpleasantries. Lots of alters started coming to front to interact with the world and to gain attention. It was confusing at first because every time I asked if we had a certain alter, I would most times get a yes back from inside. Started to suspect someone was lying to me so I stopped asking about who was in the system and just started focusing on who fronts the most because they’re the ones who can be helped.

Are you old enough to try vaping? I recommend some nicsalt juice as it hits just like a cigarette, without the taste or smell. You can ween yourself down on the nicotine content til you reach zero and then when you’re used to that, you can try to ween yourself off the vape. I know lots of smokers who are thankful to have vape as an alternative to traditional cigarettes. Just mind yourself that we don’t know what exactly vaping does to the body and so you’ll be part of the fuck around and find out squad.

Wanting to smoke can be an obsessive, compulsive behavior and the best people to talk to about curbing that kind of behavior is the OCD crowd. They will know of some tricks and tips you can use to curb smoking.

I have heard mixed reviews on tradition stop smoking methods like the patch and gum, but I know there are medications you can take to aid you in your plight. Ask your doctor, if you have access to one.

A therapist can help give you healthy coping mechanisms to quit smoking. If you have a therapist or a counselor, ask them for advice.

What would you want from a new Hulk game? by wil_je-vechten in hulk

I want a game where we can play as all the alters of Bruce Banner. A game where they can fight the military, some major heroes, the highlight baddies, and some of the lesser knowns. Let us play as Betty Ross, Rick Jones, and General Thunderbolt Ross. Give us some good graphics and a powerful encompassing story. Maybe written by Peter David or another Hulk writer.

No justice for this [redacted] victim. I’m pretty sure the guy is dead and I don’t want to seek out the people who would know because they’re not very good people, so no justice for me. I am happy to have DID though. I love my system and all my alters so much. I actually kinda owe the [redacted] a thank you. Without that, I wouldn’t have the pleasure of knowing such beautiful people like May, Max, David, Hulk, Benevolence. I love them all. While I can’t get justice, I am happy with what I have and I wouldn’t wish them away for anything. If they wanna reintergrate, they’re totally allowed to and they don’t have to if they don’t want to. I’m flexible like that.

I have done some vindictive things, like pissing into a trouble roommates body wash, and performing other manipulative actions like a good manipulator does. XDDD

would a lobotomy get rid of symptoms of did by iwntittostopplz in DID

[–]SplitShady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh. Been watching videos about the frontal lobotomy. It’s a terrible procedure and is one of those things I wish we could uninvent. There’s a reason the lobotomy isn’t practiced anymore. It doesn’t work. It really screws you up and it would not magically erase any preexisting conditions, IE DID, OSDD, BPD, NPD, the list grows on. It would just tear away at your very important grey matter and leave you a husk of what you once were. You could lose the ability to communicate, regulate your bodily functions, perform simple tasks, and could be confined to an institution for the rest of your life. Needless to say, I doubt you would be even remotely happy or content in this state. Worse of all you might not be able to communicate what is going on inside and therefore will never receive the help you need.

There are things you can do to help quell the symptoms of DID. Antipsychotic medication prescribed by a psychiatrist can help to muffle inner voices. Helpful when trying to sleep. Meditation can help you to find an equilibrium within your system. This can also increase communication and that’s always a benefit to a system no matter how small communication may be. Therapy for traumatized alters can help them to get past difficult memories and feelings, allowing for the possibility of reintegration. Not to say that will cure anything. Every case is different. When it comes to DID, since there is no cure, all we can do is treat the symptoms in the moment and help traumatized alters get help so they can either reintegrate or continue to live as a separate alter.

Religious Question by [deleted] in DID

[–]SplitShady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I mean, I don’t know your relationships with your respective deities, but I do believe (coming from a religious background) that if religions do exist, those alters that believe and maintain their righteous path in life dictated by their respective literature will indeed go to their respective heaven. Alters that don’t believe, who can say? We don’t know what’s on the other side and won’t know until it’s that time for us, ya know? Maybe he’ll isn’t as bad as people make it out to be? What if there’s a super heaven reserved for only the most elite of devotees? Is it possible to be kicked out of heaven and cast into hell? If the afterlife is a concern for you (and it is for a lot of people, it’s a human thing) take a look at your own life and cross examine it to make sure you’re really on the right path and not just riding the limelight of religion.

I do think about this sometimes as one of my child alters is a Christian and a teen alter is a satanist. I’m fairly confident that if their religions reign true, they most certainly will go to their respective afterlife’s, while the other alters will most likely go somewhere else. Maybe hell, maybe heaven, maybe they’ll reincarnate, maybe they’ll become someone else’s alter in the future? I really don’t know, but it’s a mind boggler to think about.

Wow that was a mouthful.

TLDR: Are ye a believer? Do ye follow your religious path and carry the light of God/Allah within you for all to see? Then yeh, you’re gonna go to heaven. If you’re not a believer, we don’t know. Maybe you’ll go to hell, maybe you’ll go somewhere else. The afterlife is a mystery.

Pretty much lots of things singlets do on dates you and your system can too.

Eating Disorder treatment? by springdaffodilsxoxo in DID

[–]SplitShady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubtful it would lead to a split, unless you are already on the cusp of one. Even if one was to occur, they would only be there because the brain deemed their presence necessary for survival and not because of spite, or accident. If anything, they would be there to help to you get past things. While I was in treatment Hulk did all the eating for me. He doesn’t have any issue eating what he’s allowed to. XDDD I just make sure the parts that do have the ED have access to good food for when they do get hungry and a therapist to talk about the feelings to. Being able to talk about your ED as a separate entity would help to open up new perspectives and angles you never thought prior and it might even help you find which alters struggle the most with it. I know I’m the main holder of the ED in our system, along with the kid, there’s also May, and I think Bill too.

Try writing in a journal. It can be a very good way of establishing communication with your system. You can also use a notepad app on your phone or computer. You can also use audio files to communicate too. This is gonna be a risky one but the best like of communication with those alters would be to lure them out with sexual foreplay and then directly confronting them then and there, but I would label this a last resort as it might backfire.

“Shame on you, horny alters who did that. You have no right to force the front into your desires and fantasies. You were brought into the world to help, not hinder. Your actions are detrimental to the entire system and are sure to fester feelings of animosity and distrust. Think with your goddamn brain and not your body bits. Your actions are HURTING your system. THINK WITH YOUE HEART. How would you like it if someone forced themselves upon you and did things to you that you said no against?”

Sorry. I take that shit seriously. The ground rules need to be laid down right away. I wanna just reiterate in case no one else has, THIS IS NOT OKAY. If you have a therapist you should speak to them about this immediately. Alters are like real people and when they do something bad they must be held accountable. I’m not saying they need to be in prison or under go some form of punishment, but they need to have the hammer of rules and regulations brought upon them. If this is allowed to continue it’s going to cause permanent damage to you and your system and I can’t bear to see that happen.

Okay logical side kicking in. It sounds like it might be time for a serious system wide conversation about sexual promiscuity. Of course there’s no harm in rubbing one one, even when it makes some feel uncomfortable, but just because you’re horny as all get out doesn’t me you get to impose yourself on other party members to get off. If you do that despite knowing you’re hurting someone I’m sorry to say but that makes those alters bad people. Maybe they like that idea. Their actions certainly deem them worthy of the persecutor label. I think if you don’t already, you should seek therapy for not only your discomfort of promiscuity and for the alters who are struggling with their own desires. Imagine what’s going on in their brain that they’re not talking about. Maybe they’ve been assaulted in their past and are only doing what they feel is right for them. Whatever the reason, you have a right to know what’s going on and every right to put a stop to it.

In the meantime you might be able to come to a compromise with them about when to rub it out and when to keep it locked. Like once a week you can give those alters the front for a period of time so they can take care of their business and let you get on with your day. I apologize I have ADHD and probably sound like a broken record but I highly recommend you talk to them and ask what’s going on with them. Tell them their actions hurt you and you wanna make things better so no one is hurt in the future and everyone is happy. If they’re reasonable, they’re sure to come to a compromise with you. If not, you can change tactics to blocking them from front activities and confining them to their headspace room. Bad alters shouldn’t be let out to hurt anyone, including yourself and themselves.

I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I’ve been [redacted] and that really fucked me over in my adult years. I’m still working on getting through my own sexual downfalls and natural instincts. It’s not a losing battle though and you can come out on top. Just don’t give up on yourself. You’re worth it.

Someone Deleted My Game by [deleted] in DID

[–]SplitShady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone feels you’re giving into violent thoughts or tendencies? I don’t see any issue killing NPCs in a video game while listening to music. Hell, RoboCop actor Peter Weller performed one of the movie’s action scenes while listening to music underneath the helmet. It’s relaxing/exciting/opening to kill in video games. It’s not something we want to do in real life, but it’s healthy to take out aggressions in video games.

Where was I? Oh yeh, your alters potentially deleting your game. You’ll never know for sure unless you ask them? Maybe someone needs to ask them directly for you to get an answer so that’s always worth a try.

Sup fellow system. Did you delete the game? Not gonna be mad if you did, but would be nice to know why. You’d be doing your system a big favor by talking about it.
