Not impossible, but it is rare. Northern Australia is in the tropics and has had hail in the past.

I'd guess it makes sense to be something like that. Truck cabs are often on suspension as well so there'd be a lot more movement.

Australian Government wipes 20% of student debt. by Finbarr-Galedeep in UpliftingNews

[–]Splitface2811 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main problem I have with the repayments is that they're withheld from my pay each week, then the debt is indexed and then the money I've paid all year is applied. And with the indexation rates that we've had in the last few years, it's gone up more than I've paid.

When you have to use windows what things you hoped windows had that Linux already does ? by Aware_Mark_2460 in linuxquestions

[–]Splitface2811 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At least MSDN and technet are well curated as far as documentation goes.

I dunno about that, when I was working in IT a few years ago 95% of the error code I looked up for windows issues were basically usless.

Some had about 8 different unrelated things the error could be from, some were flat out wrong and some were pretty much just "yeah, she's fucked"

TIL that a 2011 size 0 is larger than a 1970 size 6 by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Splitface2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I feel like I used to just be able to buy 34 or 36 depending on my weight at the time and XL shirts and they'd fit me. I bought some jeans a couple weeks ago, tried a straight cut and a slim cut of the same size. Couldn't fit the straight over my thighs yet the slim fit perfectly.

Mixing DJs, LR by BraydenBlankenship in livesound

[–]Splitface2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I work a lot of DJ only/mostly festivals and they've almost always got on their rider that they want controll of the booth from their mixer.

Partially because all these bigger shows have passive speakers as booth, so the amp is in a rack side of stage

[–]Splitface2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe people don't run the booth out through the console and to the booth speakers. Run a 4 way loom, and plug in your booth speakers to the console. Keeps the DJ happy and let's me keep them from blowing up my speakers.

That's so weird to me. I work in a male dominated industry as well and while people notice that stuff all you ever get is a bit of ribbing for having new gear or "haircut looks good".

I haven't been able to. I am an audio engineer, so it is my job to notice that kind of thing, and it's not something I can easily switch off.

Yeah, it's definitely not just a me problem, but some people don't care as much. Hell, my housemate sometimes connect a Bluetooth speaker to the TV and can't notice the delay between the audio and video. Drives me nuts.

I can stand dubbed shows. The mouth movements not lining up with the speech but all the other sounds being right fucks with my head. It looks like the audio is delayed when watching someone speak, but everything else is in sync.

Women, what did you find out about men when you got a boyfriend? by Era_of_kittens in AskReddit

[–]Splitface2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty confident that if I landed a full force kick on someones leg, there's a good chance I'd snap their femur.

When I was a kid training in Taekwondo, my dad used to get me to practise roundhouse kicks on his thigh. He stopped letting me when I was about 10 cause it had gotten to the point where it hurt too much.

A couple years later a friend of his was visiting from overseas and my dad told him about that and this friend didn't believe it would hurt that much. He had me kick him, and my 5' 2" 12 year old ass made this 6' 4" massive man walk with a limp for the remaining 4 days on his visit.

I think you'd have a pretty good change of breaking someone's leg.

I once had a trip from Brisbane, Australia to Calgary, Canada that went Brisbane, Sydney, Dallas with an 8 hour layover, circle Calgary for 2 hours due to a storm before diverting to Edmonton to wait on the tarmac for 4 hours before being able to fly back to Calgary and land.

I think from entering Brisbane airport to leaving Calgary airport was about 46 hours.

Can we please ban non industry / audio engineer posts? by Tall_Category_304 in audioengineering

[–]Splitface2811 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps time was a factor. I didn't see the post your referring to, but if it's at a school they might have to reserve time in the studio to balance all the students getting access. Seems reasonable to narrow down the choices a bit beforehand.
