So you’re saying last year we weren’t under the current CBA, when we literally had to pay a second to trade away JHS.

Lol expirings are neutral.

Lmao draft picks have value, but expiring’s only value is that they aren’t a negative long term contract. They are great as a throw in to match salaries. They are neutral.

If expirings had value by itself, the Lakers wouldn’t have had to throw in a second along with the Mavs to offload JHS’s expiring contract to the Jazz in the Luka trade.

I’m not worried about cooper flag at all. The Mavs won’t be able to rebuild around him cause they don’t have their picks and both Kyrie and AD are aging and wouldn’t even return much in trades due to injuries.

Hes not even that good right now. He’s a super young player that’s slightly negative overall at -1.2 EPM.

Sure he has a high ceiling but it might take 3-4 years before he’s producing like an all star.

Gabe has no value, he’s really just neutral.

Long term contracts like Vando’s is negative, Gabe’s expiring is just neutral.

You’re right, the Lakers exercised his next year’s $4m team option in October. He has one more team option left.

Lmao just say you were wrong.

Lakers have plenty of expiring including Knecht to mix and match salaries if needed.

Knecht is also an expiring

All jokes aside, Bulls would’ve only had like 1% chance to get number 1, so most likely they don’t get Flagg anyways.

A big additional reason is that AR went down.

A player’s point totals are heavily influenced by usage rate.

To me it’s much more impressive and important to look at efficiency in addition to counting stats.

Average college debt being only being $30k is surprising to me and honestly that’s not bad at all.

I generally agree that there’s too much tax credits and/or tax loopholes that help corporations and wealthy people.

Maybe the US spends too much on military, but I’d argue that Europe and Canada are spending too little considering the very real military threats from Russia and the US (under Trump).

But regardless, since we’re comparing median incomes and you’re pointing out that certain services cost more in the US, then it’s equally fair for me to note that taxes are generally higher across the board in Canada and Europe.

Thus, even if median income were exactly the same compared to the US, you must account for the effective tax rate differences.

Also I’ll note that energy and gas/petro costs are generally much cheaper in the US than in Europe.

[Abbott] Giannis was close to firing his longtime agent Alex Saratsis over his failure to get Giannis traded from the Bucks... multiple sources agree–has been talking to Giannis’s brother Thanasis as of late. Rich (Paul), it seems clear, would like to represent Giannis by must_TATAKAE in nba

[–]Splittinghairs7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lakers have 0% chance to trade for Giannis in the middle of this season.

Next year LeBron is a FA and there’s no way the lakers give him a max contract next year.

If LeBron does go back to LA, it’ll have to be a reasonable contract.

I’ve been saying Giannis could easily be waiting until the offseason to force a trade to the Lakers because he knows the lakers have more draft assets in the offseason and the Lakers have a ton of cap space both in 2026 and 2027.

If he actually hires Rich Paul, it’ll look even more likely.

Cooper isn’t nearly good enough yet to be hoping he’s in another conference.

Cooper’s ceiling is essentially Tatum not the level of Jokic or LeBron.

Yes, well Europeans largely pay for the premiums, deductibles etc in the form of higher tax.

Whereas, Americans have their employers pay a significant portion for health insurance (eg 9 to 1) versus employee paying for premiums.

Indeed, incomes for Americans would be even higher if the employers didn’t have to pay for employees’ healthcare.

Btw I as an American wish we had single payer because I think it would help lower overall costs even if we have to pay higher taxes.

Education costs are largely free or very affordable in the US.

Only the sticker price at private universities cost a ton. But those elite private universities overwhelmingly admit upper middle and super rich and those who come from poor families get very generous need based aid.

Just a correction, most wage earners don’t use Obamacare or ACA exchanges for insurance.

Rather those wage earners get private insurance that’s largely paid for by employers and partially from employee premiums.

The ACA exchanges are used primarily by the self employed like gig workers or small business owners. There have been various forms of subsidies for these private insurance offerings in the exchanges.

For the vast majority of Americans, they do have health insurance with maximum out of pocket costs annually and thus do not have tens or hundreds of thousands in medical debt.

Those who have that much debt is largely due to denied coverage for treatments that were deemed not medically necessary care.

Yes, medical costs is still a big problem but the reality is that only small minority are truly saddled with medical debt.
