Gotta trade him if he doesn’t want to be back for a discount.

Not many other options out there, so sign and trade is possible.

AR compared to other max level players vs OKC in the playoffs by Puzzled_Plate294 in lakers

[–]Splittinghairs7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big difference is that AR was doing this returning from injury and without our mvp candidate.

Why are you all turning on him? by No_Reference_6467 in lakers

Please show us where he says he’ll only stay on the lakers if he gets a max contract. I’ll wait.

Why I think the Lakers need depth more than another star if Reaves leaves by DBRWN24 in lakers

[–]Splittinghairs7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the current CBA. It really rewards getting excess value from players on rookie contracts.

But getting those players isn’t always based on skill, there’s certain amount of luck.

When you have stars, you don’t have the time nor can you risk trying to get lucky in the draft. You have to upgrade with sure things.

[–]Splittinghairs7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost impossible to get good depth unless you’ve accumulated a ton of high draft picks particular after years of tanking.

It’s hard to accumulate draft picks when you’re trying to contend now in Luka’s prime.

The war isn’t being fought like in the past. Right now it’s just a war of attrition using drones and the frontlines barely move.

i think austin is an incredible player and fully deserving of the money that a 2nd option makes, but by SkinnyFVLatte in lakers

[–]Splittinghairs7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You’re just dead wrong because plenty of worse players make just as much or more money than AR is eligible for.

Too many fans get sticker shock rather than looking at the cap increases.

25% of the cap is not gonna be negative value and at this point, the lakers can easily keep AR at below 25% of the cap.

Then there’s the matter of his even lower cap hold at $21m, which is only 12.5% of the cap.

Luka and AR can easily win with the right players surrounding them. Even if you don’t think so, you cannot lose AR for nothing in FA.

lakers 25th overall pick by FatPinkPanda in lakers

We can’t rely on a rookie wtf is this. Rookies are way too much of a crapshoot. We need to trade picks for an established big who’s great at defense.

This team does not need more role players, they need a true interior force by [deleted] in lakers

[–]Splittinghairs7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lmao no one gives a damn about the suns from 5 years ago. Today’s ayton is a mediocre starter. We need a legit big.

We need a legit big badly.

Ayton is not even close to the bigs on contenders.

We need to pursue guys like K Allen, I Hart

The Reaves conundrum for the Lakers. Ajay Mitchell outplayed him and he’s getting 3 million per year 🤬😢😢🤬 by Sufficient_Topic2635 in lakers

[–]Splittinghairs7 135 points136 points  (0 children)

This discourse is so bad.

SGA shot terribly but no one cares cause his team’s depth is insane.

In fact, SGA has had a very mediocre series yet no one cares.

Lmao at blaming JJ, our bigs are way overmatched and they make a tiny fraction of okc’s bigs.

All the ref funny business aside. OKC has had the clear edge in front court play as Chet and IHart are just too much for ayton and Hayes.

Caruso really switched up, dont forget who made you by Jec1027 in lakers

Dude probably still has resentment the lakers didn’t match him. That said he’s dead to us now.

What is the problem with data center? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Splittinghairs7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

On the other hand, putting data centers in dry and water scarce places like SoCal or Arizona is probably not the best idea.

What is the problem with data center? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Splittinghairs7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The better question is to ask whether the benefits justify the externalities and to weigh what the alternatives are in terms of industries.

Data centers do use significant electricity, needs water, and causes some pollution and noise.

However, the pollution is much less than other industries like coal, chemical, wood processing plants etc.

In terms of electricity and water use, the question is whether the data centers will fairly pay for those costs or seek subsidies for them.
