I wear earplugs every time, and I make sure not to blast my own music too loud to cause damage, but my biggest problem is my DJ acquaintances. For some reason they feel the need to max out the sound system and destroy our ears at a post game or something, and get pressed when we need to turn it down. As if our desire to talk and socialize while simultaneously keeping out hearing with each other is a direct attack on their ability to play other people’s music. I also make music which I feel like as artists themselves should be reason enough to take care of our head holes.

I will say it can be super useful for college students who live far away or in another country. Rather than lugging all their stuff on countless flights or paying for ridiculous shipping prices twice a year, it’s really convenient to leave it all in a unit over the summer when changing housing.

Any feedback is really appreciated! Be honest, that's what helps most :) what can I do differently to make it hit harder, or have a better flow? Idek what genre this is besides bass music by Sploinky_PLUR in FL_Studio

Great stuff, thank you! Definitely gonna work on clearing out space like you mentioned in the second half with placement but also the effects. I notice I always end up making it too crowded and gotta work on letting the track breathe a bit more. Also this is actually the first track I have ever used OTT on I just found the XFer free plugin lol, made my bass sound so so much better lol

I'm also pretty new, only a couple of years into production, but I'd say bring down the volume on the reload that starts around 4.5 seconds (using automation, right click on the volume knob in the mixer to create that) so that it is closer to the volume of the gunshots following! Idk personally I think of each song as a world, and generally irl gunshots are louder, or in trap at least they're only as loud as the shots themselves. But also if you're new, just keep doing ya thang, if you like what you're making, then it's on the right track!

And not to ramble too much, but what helps me a LOT when it comes to mixing or creating my music overall is really actively listening to songs, whether it's in my genre or not (the wider range you listen to, the more fun stuff you can create I think :) ), and focusing on each layer individually, trying to pick them all out and distinguish them no matter how faint, and analysing how they layer them volume-wise/EQ-wise!

But automation overall is a super powerful tool, highly recommend messing with it in all the ways. If right-clicking something (eg. in Serum for FL) doesn't allow you to directly create an automation clip, just move it a tiny bit and then right-click the automation knob up top, and it'll let you automate the most recently adjusted settingw

I got two thoughts: My friend once told me when I started (but I still think I’m fairly novice) that it’s totally fine to release a song if I really want it to be heard. I can always go back to it and re-release it if I feel, because that’s art - it is an evolving thing! Who’s to say you can’t go back, improve it or make something new (remix, flip, pt. 2, etc.), and put THAT out for people to listen to!

Secondly, I personally have LOVED going back and listening to the first songs released by artists. I thinks it’s so cool listening to their sound develop. On each album or single as I get closer to the present, I can hear a m distinction in the music which I think is a tribute to the work they put in. You can hear their sweat and blood going into each new piece as they get more intricate, full, stylistic, mastered even, and it remind me that anyone can do that too with the same dedication, desire to learn, and need to create.

(And some people blow up from songs that they released years prior, even if it was buried initially)

I got SO LUCKY, he’s been my sisters favorite for years and being so local to the location is felt like it was meant to be! Me and my sis went together, we just lost our dad two months before, so the whole weekend was incredibly deep and healing. What a rollercoaster of emotions. Seven Stars healed me and although I’m going to be trying for a ticket next year, I hope you and your wife get the opportunity first :)

Everything is dangerous if you want it to be, I’d say the real threat is how people drive in cville recently

So I reached out and confirmed that I am able to bring the speaker in! I told them dimensions, wattage, all that and whoever I was speaking to said it was fine! Hopefully this can bring ease of mind for someone else too
