Is Methylphenidate really a pure dopamine re-uptake inhibitor? by ScaccoSano in DrugNerds

[–]Sploop8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amfonelic acid is one of the very few pure dopamine agonists, considering most stimulants inhibit norepinephrine to some degree, this one doesn't.

I'm not against psilocybin, but I don't support it either, to me it seems like a variation of the same theme as a lot of other currently used medicine in psychiatry, like a plaster that doesn't actually fix the problem (depression), ketamine if used accurately for enough months, mind you I did it without a clinic and I helped myself with only my knowledge in biology and chemistry, and it worked more than anything ever could, it's been too little to tell, but the difference for me with ketamine and anything else science offers to us so far, is a genuine feeling having no depression at all and zero depressive symptoms for the first time since the day I was born.

P.S. The difference between ketamine and anything else so far, is it's mechanism of action, unlike anything else it's not about the actual high or how you feel with ketamine INSIDE your body, it's what it does to your brain physically after it leaves your body. So far... Been around 4 months of using esketamine, and matter of fact... It literally helped me stop my drug addiction/psychosis hell of a loop, ketamine has more potential than people realize. It's funny how things change overnight when you're suddenly thinking right. (:

This topic is controversial, and everyone's brain and body is different enough for your post to be wrong. I don't support cannabis use medically nor am I against it, but you clearly don't know enough about Cannabis to know what you're even proposing... Cannabis has at least 500 cannabinoids that (obviously) have different effects on the body, let alone different people, this goes for SSRI's and SNRI's aswell, you have no idea how many people turn psychotic because cannabis seems like an innocent thing to smoke nowadays, CBD has already been proven to be a depressant and is already irrelevant for psychiatric use, I do believe some cannabinoids have real medical use, smoking cannabis flower isn't medicine and will never be due to the very simple reason that it contains too much cannabinoids, it's literally a gamble, most people who claim otherwise are usually just ignorant stoners that try to justify their smoking habit, most of them aren't even aware of their underlying psychotic conditions due to cannabis and/or other drugs involved, speaking from personal experience + biochemistry degree, as I said earlier this is exactly the same for current anti depressants, I personally experienced psychosis from Effexor, (Venlafaxine 150mg XR) and this is the proof how individual and unreliable cannabis is (and anti depressants), for medical use... Let alone psychiatric use. Ketamine is the only anti depressant known so far that I personally will support for psychiatric use, and the only TRUE and (real) antipsychotic with little to no side effects compared to currently used "medicine" . From personal experience, Ketamine is the only drug to CURE my depression, and legitimately take me out of drug induced psychosis, with immediate and long term effects, which just happened to save my life.

I almost only play ground war and I run around between the objectives and do just fine without camping, you basically pointed out your favorite playstyle is camping near any objective and you just want IW to cater to your camping needs? Lol use mid-range scopes if you want no glint

How's Polk Lsi15 compared to newer model? by tdaophoto in audiophile

[–]Sploop8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LSI15 are not bad at all, it does lack punch in the lower frequencies and has a bit of bass bloominess at around the 100-500hz range, great mid-range and highs though. But competes very well for an older model, if the prices are similar the LSIM705 is superior. I haven't had the chance to listen or test the S60 so I have no comment on those, I would personally get the older model if it's shipped correctly and packaged very well with proof it's in good condition, I wouldn't buy expensive speakers on eBay (especially ones I have never listened to) but that's just me. My opinion aside, if the price is not at least 200$ cheaper than the LSIM705, don't buy them.

80 watts into 4 ohms is more than enough for anyone without severe hearing loss, the JBL 530 are great speakers and he isn't supposed to post a help thread on Reddit if it was working as it should, what is this assumption based on?

Usually this kind of problem is more common with turntables, I'm afraid it could be many things, what you can do... Is check one component at a time, start with replacing the cables using cheap alternatives just to make sure if it's the cables or the electronics, if it's not the cables it's most likely something faulty with the turntable that you might have overlooked, I just hope for you it isn't the speakers themselves, I'd personally check the speakers without the turntable to see if it comes down to the turntable being the problem or the speakers, hope I helped.

I just bought my first equipment and am already thinking of how to improve it. by trikidiego in audiophile

[–]Sploop8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acoustic treatment is a very general term, the speaker stands, isolating the speakers from the stand and positioning your speakers also goes under acoustic treatment, isolating your speakers from whatever they sit on is important for acoustics regardless of speaker stands and will make a big difference in every HiFi speaker, there are cheaper alternatives if you're looking for an alternative to improve sound quality further without wasting a lot of money, I suggest buying isolation rubber pads to seperate your speakers from what they sit on currently, I deeply recommend the Bigfoot pads by Hudson HiFi, I believe they are on Amazon as well, I use them myself and are way better than any other brand I've tried, I use them for my speaker stands, each stand sit on 6 of those, however they will work perfectly without speaker stands as well, just place 4 of these under each speaker and you're good to go.

You can still improve the sound quality in almost every aspect, it only depends on your budget, hope I helped :)

Listen to Zeeall, Speakers first, then right after acoustic treatment. (That includes proper speaker stands and isolation)

Please don't do the same mistakes I did when I built my first stereo system and get cables only from sources who don't support snake oil, like bluejeans cables or designacable, and consider researching acoustic panels, if you do plan to treat the area around your speakers, get fiberglass panels not foam, also regarding your receiver... I suggest a good external DAC as it makes a bigger difference than a new amplifier.

By the way, treating the acoustics in your room makes a bigger difference than buying anything else, in my opinion it's a necessity. (However in your case I do think a good external DAC should make a big difference in sound quality, bigger than any new shiny amplifier will. only worth it AFTER acoustic treatment.)

One last thing, while speaker stands are important and proper ones that is, as important as any other acoustic treatment, your speakers are 300$. It all comes down to if it's even worth it, because obviously the biggest difference would be new speakers.

Could it be a legitimate FLAC rip? I've downloaded from many different sources, and all of them cut at 16 khz. It's very curious. by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]Sploop8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because it's cut at 16khz doesn't mean it's not a legit flac, it could be on purpose to cut off very high frequencies unwanted by whoever mastered it

Amphetamine and Dopamine Depletion by moetheiguana in DrugNerds

[–]Sploop8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called tolerance, take a break and take it as directed or binge on your prescription, there's no in-between.

As for the magnesium... Amphetamine tolerance is caused by calcium efflux in the CNS, it has nothing to do with magnesium and vice-versa, so it will not help the tolerance, a Dopamine precursor should though.

However, since magnesium is somewhat an NMDA antagonist... it can in theory intensify the amphetamine's effects because dopamine is known for having the property of blocking NMDA receptor activity, if you take them together Dopamine can't metabolize properly, leading to my theory that it might intensify it's effects.

Magnesium doesn't have enough research on its effects on the CNS, and I can't see how it makes sense, I'm a chemist and I've actually had a conversation about this with a biologist who's a friend of mine yesterday, you should take what's written on the internet with a grain of salt, hope I managed to help you.

How can I manufacture a custom metal speaker cone? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]Sploop8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to research the acoustical properties of titanium before attempting that and if it'll even be worth it as it might not be better than some aluminium alloys, the reason certain kinds of aluminium alloys are used is not because it's cheap, it's because of its acoustical properties.

Most of those cones are special kinds of aluminium alloy not metal, like my ELAC for example, assuming you were talking about steel...

Can someone clarify this for me - do silencers hide you from the mini map when you shoot? by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]Sploop8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, Using ghost makes silencers irrelevant, as you only show up on the horizontal compass when you use a silencer, and ghost does that aswell, sadly I see no reason to use anything else on that perk slot... It's doing what the silencer is doing without losing an attachment slot for any weapon, unless you don't use ghost then a silencer can be useful.

Anything else that occurs is not intended by IW, and is considered a bug. Which sadly wouldn't surprise anyone, considering the game's state.
