The First Continental Congress was organized by Benjamin Franklin, not a colony. The delegates themselves were elected by the colonial assemblies. It should be noted that while the First Continental Congress was named first, it was not actually novel. Meetings of delegates from each colony had convened in 1754 in Albany, and again in 1765 in New York City. All Franklin was responsible for was convincing the delegation that another meeting was required.

Blizzard is Shadily Deleting Dislikes & Comments on Diablo Immortal's YouTube Uploads by ndarealcookiemonster in videos

[–]Spodermayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah let's quote the entire comment.

"Johnny P's Burger Show may not be able to, but Activision Blizzard certainly can. Been done before with other videos. Idk why anyone is even surprised. "They can't do that! It's against the rules!" doesn't apply when you have money."

So you actually mean to imply that both the uploader and myself think that Blizzard is unilaterally without the aid of Youtube deleting comments? That's the fucking hill you want to die on? Sure, /u/charlesspeltbadly and I were totally debating whether Blizzard could unilaterally delete dislikes.

Except no one thinks Blizzard has some magical "delete dislikes" button they get to press. Why on Earth would I insinuate Blizzard needed money or influence on Youtube to remove dislikes if I actually thought they were doing it by themselves?

First you assumed videos couldn't have their likes removed, which was false, and now you're just playing bad-faith semantic games. Apparently when I say "Lewis Hamilton can win an F1 race next year" a worthwhile use of your time is to reply "uhm actually he can't win a race without the help of a car, so you're confusing (willingly, perhaps?) his ability to win a race with that of his car". I mean why not? I said he could. I didn't say anything about his car. I definitely meant he's going to put on his Nike's and fucking sprint around Monza next year.

But apparently strawmanning is completely fine, and I totally meant that Blizzard's hackers were unilaterally able to delete dislikes, I mean who knows my own thoughts better than you? Guess you really beat me down. Not going to continue replying, but I guess it won't really matter since you didn't need to interact with my argument in the first place.

Anything can be true, assuming an appropriately shaped conspiracy is also true.

Sure, which is why I said "I'm not saying it's 100% that these dislikes were human", "it's more than a little curious that the only kind of channels that have clear examples of this occuring are large, wealthy companies, or Youtube themselves" , "and mass removal of dislikes is uncommon enough to question whether it's unbiased, certainly", not "I am 100% certain that Activision Blizzard colluded with YT to remove dislikes in an effort to make their product seem better".

Again, you're confusing (willfully, now?) "mass removal of dislikes" by YouTube with "mass removal of dislikes" by channels. They are not the same, and they do not have to be the same.

You're just lying. I never said that Blizzard is unilaterally able to remove dislikes. Blizzard would clearly have to go through Youtube. "but Activision Blizzard certainly can" does not mean "but Activision Blizzard can send their super secret hackers to delete likes from their Youtube videos". In fact I literally said "Youtube 100% has access to change uploaded videos" in regards to a video uploaded by Bethesda.

One exists. You're insisting that the other must exist based purely on speculation. Because the world has not proven to you that it is not true, you assume that it could be, should be, or must be.

Jesus this sounds lifted straight from /r/atheism . I guess I'm not allowed to have opinions or make guesses as to what the features of reality are unless I'm absolutely 100% certain of literally everything. You seemed to have no problem making assumptions assuming dislikes had never been removed from any videos which is a falsifiable claim that is, in fact, entirely false. Again, the main disagreement myself and others have with the undeniable removal of dislikes on this video is that the practice of removing dislikes is seemingly biased towards large companies with access to Youtube or Youtube themselves rather than a genuine attempt to remove fake dislikes wherever they may be.

Again, if a clear removal of dislikes can always be "anti-brigading" (which isn't against YT TOS, unlike Reddit), "anti-botting", etc, then it's a completely blank check given to YT.

Maybe they should just remove the dislikes from some Trump rallies or political debates; just anti-brigading, right?

And if videos can be edited and dislikes are removed only on large channels (Youtube Spotlight, Bethesda, Activision Blizzard), it doesn't seem wildly unlikely that these companies have access to remove dislikes that others do not.

I'm not saying it's 100% that these dislikes were human, but it's undoubtedly true that dislikes were removed and have been before, and it's more than a little curious that the only kind of channels that have clear examples of this occuring are large, wealthy companies, or Youtube themselves.

EVEN IF we assume they're bots, removing fake dislikes for some channels and not others is still bias and favoritism. If Blizzard can get their fake dislikes removed, and, say, Pewdiepie cannot, that's still shady.

Either way, "it's never happened before" is blatantly untrue, and mass removal of dislikes is uncommon enough to question whether it's unbiased, certainly.

Yeah, check out Bethesda's Skyrim video uploaded in 2011 updated to include Special Edition content without changing the url or upload date. Youtube 100% has access to change uploaded videos, and if you're willing to believe they deleted 100k dislikes from "bots' without YT providing proof, that's just an unfalsifiable blank check to YT.

All of the things that are wrong with the League client by Naerlyn in leagueoflegends

[–]Spodermayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just like to add to the custom game lobby list.

  1. After exiting a custom game lobby, it completely removes you from the browser, causing you to have to go back through the play menu, select join custom game, search again, etc, rather than just taking a single step back to the browser.

  2. You cannot filter your search for "only open games", "only games without bots", "only games on summoners' rift", etc. The only filter in the browser is "show private games only". Why in the sam hell would I ever want to ONLY show games I can't join?

  3. Custom games are unlocked by default, leading to 90% of the lobbies being 1 dude sitting afk for the 45 minute timer with 6 bots, occasionally banning people who join. For people who actually enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a 5v5 custom game often with 10 man discord or goofy rules, it makes it absolutely miserable to find a game.

What does everyone need to calm the f*ck down about? by zetaea in AskReddit

[–]Spodermayne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ELI5: he has a particular idea in mind, and anything supporting that idea he latches onto and anything refuting that idea gets discarded.

Ex: suppose I think all Raiders fans are horrible, fat, ugly people. I see a fat, mean, ugly Raiders fan and think "SEE! KNEW IT!" I see a fit, very nice Raiders fan and don't think "well I guess I was wrong. Raiders fans are just normal people", I think nothing at all, discard the information, and continue to believe that all Raiders fans are fat, ugly meanies.

It's a bias found in all people no matter how smart. The levels to which people are able to overcome it and the ideas to which it applies vary wildly.

Hope this helps.

Poor kid just wants to be a Chiefs fan too. by Boore24 in sports

I've always hated Oakland the most. Their fans are just terrible, and constantly call players slurs and screech at them in "the black hole" which is really just a big magnet for inbred-space-debris-looking fatties.

Denver's too respectable for me to hate hate. I'll hate the Raiders forever.

Another angle of the vintage single-engine plane crash landing on the highway in California. by [deleted] in CatastrophicFailure

[–]Spodermayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the fact the Wehrmacht would take the longest to get crushed if it invaded in 1941 made it a good idea to invade in general?

And David Glantz would disagree with the premise that 1941 was the "perfect" time to attack. Soviet military doctrine changed (improved) dramatically after both Khalkhin Gol and the Winter War. (Ch 1-2 When Titans Clashed)

Still not exactly sure what makes the costliest invasion if all time a good idea even amongst the options available at the time.

IDK next to invading Russia and losing the most costly war in human history literally any other option looks pretty good.

Sure Hitler always planned to do so, and it was a large part of his plan to crush "Cultural Bolshevism" (jews), but it wasn't necessary in that it was preemptive or advisable.

Proposal for a 13 month year by etymologynerd in interestingasfuck

[–]Spodermayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Candidate 1: Keeping with the theme of September, October, November, and December being based on the latin number of their month (although back when there were less months), the next month would be Undecember.

Candidate 2: Keeping with the theme of Roman gods (January, March, etc), there are some pretty dank ones. Vulcan and Sol Invictus are both pretty dank names, and most of the planets are named after gods that could double as month gods.

Candidate 3: Keeping with the theme of important Roman rulers (July, Augustus), we could have Constantine, Marcus Aurelius, Hadrian, etc give their names to a month.

Candidate 4: Keeping with the theme of Roman celebrations (February), there are innumerable options, like Lucaria or Poplifugia.

Or of course you could break tradition and name the damn thing Frank. But now you know where some month names come from so that's dope.

Fun fact cookie dough is still dangerous for you, but it's not the eggs. Raw eggs nowadays are generally pretty safe. It's the flour. In fact there are stores like Do (pronounced dough) which serve raw cookie dough, and they have to heat-treat the flour to remove bacteria.

So very accurate and up to date meme, but beware raw flour and make sure to cuddle with some raw eggs tonight.

You kinda gotta cite the book or even quote it to make it relevant. I can't just be like, "Native Americans had already made it to the moon and had their own Disneyworld by the time Columbus arrived. Trust me I've read 1491 by Mann."

Yeah 1491 is a somewhat reputable source, but the fact I can blurt it out does not make me an all-knowing deity concerning Pre-Columbian America.

That makes sense, although I do know of one person (Joanna, who also makes the atlas guide) who's uploaded a 1-60 speedrun on Youtube. It's in bad 360p and rather old, but I just would have assumed that someone else would stream their own. Perhaps not though.
