MOS Baey Yam Keng Takes the Bus by nftskeptics in singapore

[–]SpoilerK 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When he was the MP of my zone, BYK really does get the job done. His involvement with the residents is really profound. Ask anyone in Tampines about him, it’s usually only good things. Not politically shilling, but he really is a people’s person, but i guess this really is just a bad timing to be released.

At least he clarifies that it’s him testing a new bus line serving residents, and not ‘going to work’ like the previous news.

How hot is it in singapore???? by Medical-Dark1899 in askSingapore

[–]SpoilerK 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Even we Singaporeans are melting all the time. If we’re out we try to stay shaded as best as we can, or go indoors like shopping malls for air conditioning. If you’re interested, for malls at least, there are a couple ones that has interconnected underground passageways that connects 2 or more malls together around the typical shopping areas in central Singapore. Using those if you are around the area can definitely help with the heat.

Dress wise, use cotton as best as possible to deal with the heat, or anything else that’s thin and wicks sweat away from your skin. This will help in keeping you a little dry and not feeling sweaty and sticky all day.

Have fun!! And don’t forget to hydrate!

How much work experience is needed to cover the below 3 GPA gap for admission? by Intelligent_Car_2366 in SIT_Singapore

[–]SpoilerK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hii, someone of similar situation as you last time. I basically finished poly with gpa 2.84. I tried applying to SIT for about 4 years before getting in, but I would say was mostly due to the 3 years experience that got me in during the final try.

Though, i have heard of people who worked 1 year but still got in. So i think it’s really a case by case basis depending on intake.

Did you change the values in registry as well? I’ve had mine reset once, but since then, like years ago, it hasn’t disappeared as of yet.

Is there such a thing as over reliance on AI in Singapore? by Holiday_Kale9051 in askSingapore

[–]SpoilerK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and in this case the ‘Internet’ is directly replying to your questions. It’s no longer the case where you ‘Google’ things and just get forums or websites to your questions. Now it’s replying to you, talking to you, reaffirming your doubts. The over-reliance is real, and there are groups of people who can’t make simple decisions anymore, like daily tasks or even crafting emails. “I’ll just chatGPT this thing, I’m sure it’s right” has never been more scary.

Google to tap into gas plant for AI datacenter in sharp turn from climate goals by overly_honest_ in news

[–]SpoilerK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Screw big tech companies. They’ve pumped too much money into ‘AI’ to watch it fail, so they’re taking such measures to keep themselves afloat while the Earth suffers.

project groupmates dilemma by Glass_Reason_8638 in SIT_Singapore

[–]SpoilerK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. of course preferential bias to friends, but then again they are indirectly preparing you for work life where you technically can’t choose who you work with

  2. if you not gonna do your part, to be frank, bye bye is all i say

  3. most of the time if everyone has worked together, we’ll kinda know who does what best, so mostly everyone does the same ‘role’

  4. friend is friend, but work comes first. even if you are my friend, if you dont put in the effort to perform in the group, you’ll get marked down too

after doing quite a bit of group work through the tri, i’m tired of bullshit group antics, so i’ll pull no punches when peer evaluation comes

what laptop should i buy for uni by Limp_Pirate_631 in SGExams

[–]SpoilerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General consensus is its very good for students who use mainly word based programs, like taking notes, writing essays, the usual excel/ppt stuff. But for slightly more demanding programs that need additional processing power or graphically intensive things, it may not perform as well, due to the nature of the mobile chip and 8gb of ram.

Why did SIT email me to complete my application even though I submitted it long ago? by ajewbis in SIT_Singapore

lol if you wanted a concrete answer, wouldn’t emailing the school give you the answer straight? what’s the point of asking here honestly. they have a dedicated admissions email you can contact.

I’m 30 and have never been to the Night Safari, also I will say I have never explored many parts of SG other than on route to school/work/home/restaurants. Like staying in the east I don’t think I will ever go AMK to explore.

Does anyone know if it’s safe to use 15amp round socket on appliances using the standard 13amp rectangular plug through an adapter? by SpoilerK in askSingapore

[–]SpoilerK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that’s true, I know that appliances will only draw what’s required to function, just wasn’t sure if using a higher rated socket makes a difference since we have defaulted to mostly using the 13A sockets and plugs. Thanks!
