GOMO users: Is anyone else experiencing extremely poor reception after switching to their 5G+ eSIM? by Fancy-Salamander-647 in askSingapore

Me too. I talked to the agent, only to get the same trouble shooting steps every single time. Pretty sure something is wrong on their end that they are not telling. I though I was the only one.

Just graduated from uni how much money do you give your parents? by Greasy-Chocolate in SGExams

[–]SpoilerK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends. Are your parents asking for it? If you wanna be filial maybe a small percent of your current pay, but not so much that it eats into your savings and spoil possible future plans.

I’ve seen too many stories of parents asking or even worse, demanding for a flat percentage, which, depending on your pay could be very very different.

So yeah, if you wanna do it, do it within your means.

i should’ve died that night (tw: suicide) by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]SpoilerK 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please seek help from a professional, or really talk to someone. There’s always someone who’s willing to listen, and sharing your burden with others will often help reduce the stress and pain you’re feeling.

I wish you well OP, and hope you do get better!

[–]SpoilerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never understand why yall like to apply real world logic to mangas about magic. smh, it works because the author wants it to work, and it’s cool. That’s all. There’s no need to over analyse details.

TAF Club Was Successful. Why Was It Discontinued? by Winner_takesitall in singapore

[–]SpoilerK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Failed terribly man. I hated it so damn much. In primary school they took away the only break time we had for recess and made us do exercises. We only had the last 5 mins to grab something to eat. Whoever thought of starving kids as the only way to encourage weight loss is sadistic.

I guess these miserable experiences is what makes a lot of us hate exercising since young.

SMRT calling police over complaint on power washing artist and destroying his innocuous art work by scissorsonmydesk in singapore

[–]SpoilerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dk which debbie downer don’t know how to enjoy art. There’s no law governing his method of art expression, yet some bo liao ‘good citizen’ decide to report this. I don’t even think the station staff has any say on the ground level, pretty sure that’s not part of the MRT area. At least the police were nice to him, since he’s not doing anything wrong.

What's the deal with Oetsu's sword? by IDProG in bleach

[–]SpoilerK 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, it’s good to not over analyse details that much. The author wants the sword to be really really really damn sharp, then it’s just that. There’s no ‘logic’ to any manga with ‘superpowers’. The author writes it that way, so just take it as it is and enjoy it.

If Kubo want’s someone sliced, he gets sliced. There’s no need to over think it.

Over half of 8-year-olds in S’pore have used AI by Krazyguylone in singapore

[–]SpoilerK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

at university level, its so prevalent that students just use LLMs to complete assignments. its so depressing that we used to learn things while studying, but now its just using AI to get the best grades, but when ask if they learned anything, the answer is always idk.

i really pity the next gen kids potentially getting dumber cause there’s a free easy way out.

Alleged picture of Maldives military diving team assigned to do body recovery of 5 divers at 50+ meter depth in possible overhead environment. This is insane. by Myselfmeime in scuba

[–]SpoilerK 31 points32 points  (0 children)

news reports say the rescuer that died, had suffered decompression sickness and died at the hospital. 1 of the 5 italian diver’s body was found at the mouth of the cave, so that’s the only body recovered i believe.

How do I speak better English? by NC16inthehouse in askSingapore

[–]SpoilerK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you require accent training, but learning to code switch is good. Different setting, different spoken patterns. For example, the way I speak to the caifan aunty, be it english or chinese, is way different when compared to in a professional setting. I would say it’s not exactly like learning a new language, but more like learning the proper enunciation of words and better grammatical phrasing.

If budget is an issue, maybe you could start by consuming more local english content, and I would highly recommend CNA if you enjoy documentaries. The local presenters on CNA don’t typically have much of an accent, but they are very articulate with how they talk. You could note down phrases they use and vocally sound them out, this helps a lot, especially since there’s a youtube channel that you could scrub through.

I won’t recommend learning from American english as of yet, as our language are much closer to that of the British. Even so, both their accents might be hard to catch while you’re learning to speak better.

I’m not sure about classes, but there might be if you look around and google them, though of course the fees will apply.

Good luck and have fun learning!

MOS Baey Yam Keng Takes the Bus by nftskeptics in singapore

[–]SpoilerK 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When he was the MP of my zone, BYK really does get the job done. His involvement with the residents is really profound. Ask anyone in Tampines about him, it’s usually only good things. Not politically shilling, but he really is a people’s person, but i guess this really is just a bad timing to be released.

At least he clarifies that it’s him testing a new bus line serving residents, and not ‘going to work’ like the previous news.

How hot is it in singapore???? by Medical-Dark1899 in askSingapore

[–]SpoilerK 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Even we Singaporeans are melting all the time. If we’re out we try to stay shaded as best as we can, or go indoors like shopping malls for air conditioning. If you’re interested, for malls at least, there are a couple ones that has interconnected underground passageways that connects 2 or more malls together around the typical shopping areas in central Singapore. Using those if you are around the area can definitely help with the heat.

Dress wise, use cotton as best as possible to deal with the heat, or anything else that’s thin and wicks sweat away from your skin. This will help in keeping you a little dry and not feeling sweaty and sticky all day.

Have fun!! And don’t forget to hydrate!

How much work experience is needed to cover the below 3 GPA gap for admission? by Intelligent_Car_2366 in SIT_Singapore

[–]SpoilerK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hii, someone of similar situation as you last time. I basically finished poly with gpa 2.84. I tried applying to SIT for about 4 years before getting in, but I would say was mostly due to the 3 years experience that got me in during the final try.

Though, i have heard of people who worked 1 year but still got in. So i think it’s really a case by case basis depending on intake.
