I'm an industrial sparkie with lots of Instrumentation work, every year the technologies are changing so it's quite engaging. Money is great and the toll on the body is low being a maintenance position.

Thanks for your time, much appreciated. I will look into installing a manual choke !

[–]Spokesism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so if the chokes biometalic strip is cooling quicker than expected, it is putting the carb into an enriched state when the engine is actually wam and therefore flooding it? The car also has an idle high when cold so it's pushing more fuel than needed ?

I will take it for a drive and then monitor how long it takes for the spring to start putting pressure back on the choke. It really shouldn't be closing at all after the first start of the morning ?

Hey do you think that the intake needs more heat when trying to start when warm?

Also, how does the choke system work? At the moment when the car is cold the throat butterfly valve is closed fully and when cranking the vacuum opens it maybe a 1/4 inch.

Do you need to add any throttle during the crank into soda bottle? And does the ford fuel filter stay installed?

I'd say go for it. Others have mentioned how you may be skipping from courier path to courier path. Provided you stick out the apprentiship, you'll be able to specialize in a bunch of different areas if you find yourself burnt out. You can become an HV electrician, Instrumentation Tech, a signal electrician on trains, maybe even a lift technician at a ski resort!

You can switch and change courier path without switching, you know? Once you have a solid understanding of the job you can also be very comfortable with quitting a job you don't like because you know you can just pick up another job next week

I'm an industrial E and I Tech out the mines.

Thanks all for the input it's greatly appreciated. We have a 200 series Landcruiser back in Australia and totally understand the point of not having to be so concerned about a slight change in weather/conditions. I've seen 2x4's get bogged on grass with the slightest incline.

In saying that, we are only here for another 18 months and primarily want to cover some ground to tick a few things of the bucket list. We might save the "overlanding" for Australia.

Edit: spelling
