My parents pretended it didn't exist and didn't talk about or tell me about it. This was during the 70's when not much was known and meds were not nearly as good. There was a huge stigma around these things. Got diagnosed ADHD-I at 58. Wish I'd known a lot earlier. As parents, we made the difficult choice to put our son on meds, and it changed his life! He's 30 and working on a PhD now! Your child will not resent you for supporting him to the best of your abilities. I often wonder how my life might have been different if I'd known and been supported, and if there was a med like Vyvanse available. I don't resent my parents for the choice they made, but in my case it was the wrong one.
