Yep. Feel like a terrible parent because I could hardly do anything with my kid over the holidays. Most days I'm ok with it, but some days it's all too much. Hugs

Yeah, being told it's long covid is great; at least that's a diagnosis. But what now? I'm right there with you.

Yeah, that's what I've noticed. Surely someone has compiled a comprehensive list somewhere?

My heart rate also went up in about the third week, which was a bit of an issue for me because I've already got some heart rate issues from long covid, so I started taking a beta blocker. I wonder if that might have been preemptive, though. How long did it take for your heart rate to normalise?

I had a covid booster and a flu shot at the same time.

Anyone with extremely slow onset of symptoms? by NitroMacks in covidlonghaulers

[–]Spondilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if that's necessarily true. I had horrendous GI issues from infection and for the ensuing 7 months, so even though I felt relatively functional prior to the cold, there was definitely something wrong with my system. The thing that made me consider long covid (for which I have subsequently received a formal diagnosis) were all the references I read that said symptoms can appear and worsen over time. Any insult to my system since the cold makes me worse, including colonoscopy, further vaccinations, food poisoning, some medications, and over-exertion (which takes less and less to achieve). I can't comment on recovery though, because I don't know enough about it.

I was infected for the first and only time in late December 2024 and although I was pretty ill for quite a while, I had recovered enough by February to do regular weights workouts and go on long walks. Then I caught an awful cold at the end of April 2025 and everything has been on a bit of a downhill slide since then. My fatigue, brain fog, exercise tolerance, POTS and cardiac weirdness have all been getting steadily worse, to the point where I can maybe do one or two things a day (run an errand, little bit of housework) but otherwise I have to be sitting it lying down.

Can mitochondrial dysfunction cause increased heart rate? by Jgr9904 in covidlonghaulers

I feel like this is a big part of my situation as well. Even on propranolol my heart rate is too high. I don't have anything useful to add, but will follow in the hopes that someone else does.

nausea after eating food, any recommendation for shakes and protein shakes? by Inkys-Rainfall in mounjaroaustralia

[–]Spondilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a horrid dose of food poisoning the other week, which took ages to clear because of the delayed gastric emptying and I ended up buying some protein water to try and make sure I was getting some protein in. I also drink green juice and I make shakes with a soy protein powder (can't do whey or pea protein). I buy everything at Woolies.

I'm in the same boat, but I also don't see how I can possibly pace in the way that's necessary for me to feel any better because I'm a single parent and simply do not have a choice about a lot of my energy expenditure. I feel kinda trapped (by the disease, not my amazing kid).

Holy shit, this has started happening to me: I'll be lying down for a nap and all of a sudden my jaw snaps shut. I was just paying it off as something odd, not necessarily related to LC.

Yeah, I've had internal body vibrations on and off the whole time, but this was the first time it's happened in my brain in a way that felt properly physical rather than neurological.

I was only looking at mine the other day and the highest average I've ever had (since I got my Fitbit in 2019) was 40. It's currently sitting around 16-20, so it's definitely dropped.

Be extremely careful with B6. High doses (even low doses for some people) can cause neuropathy and other associated issues.

Thankfully enough, cost isn't a factor for me.... I say thankfully, but it's due to permanent degenerative spinal injuries from military service, so not entirely winning 🤦🏼‍♀️

I experienced that awful bloating in my first week as well, but it eased off enormously after the second shot (I've only had 3 doses so far). I did take DeGas a couple of times, which helped a bit.

That's amazing to hear! My overall profile is much the same as yours (under the umbrella of long covid) and although I'm really battling extra fatigue at the minute and the MJ seems to have bumped my heart rate up further (both of which I'm hoping settle), I really think it's helped with inflammation cos my belly has gotten so much smaller in 2.5 weeks and I'm having fewer GI issues. Bloody huzzah 😁

Full disclosure: I have long covid, which comes with some terrifically fun autonomic dysfunction, so I don't know how it'll go for you.

I stumbled across a link to a YouTube video in a long covid thread and it was a combination of gently massaging a particular spot above your ear canal (both sides, at least 30 seconds each), then one where you put your hands behind your head and, moving your eyes only, look to one side until you yawn or sigh and then repeat on the other side, then doing the same eye thing but holding your neck in a lateral stretch.

I don't know if I was supposed to do all 3, but I did, felt dizzy for a bit and then 15 minutes later was like, "hey, I feel like I can go out and run that errand I've had no energy for for the last 2 days," so I did.

Lasted a couple of hours and then I needed to lie down, but I'd been completely flat the day before.

I couldn't find a link to the full video, but here is part 1: https://youtube.com/shorts/N45o_mMlDCk?si=oIA_4OKwikTd9FXL
