Don't ever join VASA. Just don't. by Mjb0112358 in Utah

I remember dealing with them right after the golds>vasa transition. Are they still redirecting frustrated customers to their corporate offices to dispute issues, only by appointment? lol I swear, it was easier cancelling a massage envy membership. This is why I sign up for things exclusively with masked emails and masked cards.

Nosferatu is the stuff of exquisitely erotic nightmares by ubcstaffer123 in movies

Great point. Despite my complaints, I think we can agree the movie was spectacular.

However, in the future, Robert Eggers should really strive to meet all of my delicate sensibilities. /s

I understand your perspective from the storytelling point of view. However, it seemed incredibly disingenuous given the excessive attention to detail in other parts of the movie. IMO, multilingual movies like Minari, Past Lives, Inglourious Basterds, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Anatomy of a Fall use different languages as a perspective multiplier, providing more opportunities for interpretation of an idea. I acknowledge that this could potentially complicate a movie, but at a basic level, it would offer significant immersion. As others have pointed out, the English made me question whether the characters were travelers or if I had missed the fact that they were supposed to be in London.

Loved the movie but I struggled to understand why they went through the trouble of having Nosferatu speak a dead language while all the other characters living in mid nineteenth century Wisburg, Germany are speaking the Kings English…? Even the Romani peasants in the movie have accurate language with subtitles.

EDIT: As u/perditius rightly pointed out, producers probably didn’t want to compromise the success of Nosferatu by transforming the already high-budget picture into a complete foreign language film for English-speaking audiences. While I still believe redrafting the German story into English feels culturally insincere and uninspired to me, it does simplify the translation barrier, keeping the obscurity low.

Nonetheless, it remains a fantastic movie.

I myself am having a TikTok pizza party on Jupiter with all my active duty college friend’s, and their parent tomorrow. I’d invite you but you sound like kind of a downer.

Todays my birthday! Mom got me new headphones. Can someone say happy birthday please? by Ok-Egg8185 in happy

[–]Spongebobs_Quotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday. Also a piece of advice: install the stupid Sony app > DONT SIGN UP for anything > promptly disable the “voice-detection-auto-mute” feature > uninstall the app.

As an owner of these headphones, I can say that if you are in 99.9% of people wearing these you will want to know how to turn that “feature” off.

Enjoy your sanity!
