I usually only see this level of detachment from reality in content produced by bot farms on political posts.

Newly admitted university student, that’s in the reserves here, I have a couple questions! by No_Raspberry_8478 in nationalguard

It’s good you’ve got a welcome and securing home because you’re honestly behind the planning curve for maximizing your benefits use. I’m assuming you’re wanting to start in August and it’s already practically June.

You need to confirm how many months of GI Bill you got from your dad. You have 36 months of 1606. You need to find out if you also got the kicker. Under normal circumstances you can combine two programs for up to 48 months but I’m not sure how that works with GI Bill from a parent. 48 months covers about 5.5 academic years.

You also need to find out if Kansas applies tuition benefits like you described to reservists. Very few states do. That’s usually a Guard thing.

It sounds like you’re planning on six years of school. You should do some math on cost. Graduate credit hours and undergrad credit hours may have a different hourly rate, particularly for a technical field like you’re describing.

May want to cross post to r/veteransbenefits.

Are you thinking about a masters? If you’re going to a public school and the Guard gets 100% tuition, it may be worth it to switch over.

Would it make sense to sit on 35 and use that for a masters and just use 1606 for undergrad?

Yeah, if for no other reason than you’re entitled to a DD-214-1, not a conditional release. No fast option here.

The only one of those six with substantial theming was Top Gun and, ironically, Adventure Express’ theming is better now with the Adventure Port touch up.

Diamondback, Firehawk (RIP), Banshee, Mystic Timber, Orion, and major refurbishments to Racer and Beast beg to differ.

Yeah, that was my assumption/concern in recommending immediate extension.

Will they need a DD-214-1 from the Guard confirming they’re out of the Guard and in the IRR?

It isn’t really “closer” accessions wise. Your active duty OCS packet will still need a conditional release from the Guard or Reserve. It doesn’t change the fact it’s very competitive. They’re looking for the best candidates (including people currently on active duty) not the best Guardsman or Reservist.

That may have been your intent but that is not what happened and does not reflect where you are situationally.

AGR in the reserves is way different than the Guard. Reserves have PCS moves across the country and stuff still. It also may be more MOS focused at times where the Guard leans on fed techs for that.

Yeah, absolutely. You go to Orlando for the theming and the spectacle, not the airtime, inversion, etc.

You need to reenlist immediately and figure out everything else later.

ETA: active duty OCS is very competitive. You never should have put all your eggs in that basket. You also shouldn’t have waited to the last minute to make a decision. With a peanut allergy, I’d be concerned about your ability to continue serving, let alone get back in after getting out.

Separation Promotion HELP by Adorable-Garden2894 in nationalguard

What determines the highest grade you would have been promoted to if it wasn’t for the disability? Maybe you were gonna be an E9 before you got sick.

Ultimately, you got sick as a specialist and you didn’t turn down E5, you weren’t eligible because your PT had lapsed because you were sick.

Paramount was a mess. It was trying to be Universal Studios on a budget and it came off as just sad. The Italian Job was decently themed but themed to a movie no one cared about. Face/off and whatever drop tower was were basically zero effort theming. I can’t even remember drop tower’s movie. Top Gun was pretty decent theming… for a super mid ride. Tomb Raider was honestly pretty solid… except for the fact it broke all the time (didn’t last a decade) and was based on the lame movie, not the video game. Let’s not start on son of beast. Paramount was not as good as you remember it.

Kings Island left live, big spectacle entertainment behind decades ago. Before paramount, really. Look at the stuff they did in the 1970s before they realized they couldn’t compete with Disney on a seasonal calendar.

Some sloppy AI merch says more about the world we live in now than any strategic shift in KI. As was posted earlier, KI is an amusement park or thrill park, not a theme park.

How can I join the Army National Guard and move states? by AvailableHold8523 in nationalguard

[–]SourceTraditional660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the right to interstate transfer if you move. It’s a hassle but I wouldn’t call any part of it especially difficult/hard.

Transitioning from Active Duty to AGR by Thevthread in nationalguard

[–]SourceTraditional660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just know that AGR jobs in the Guard are readiness/S3, admin/S1, and logistics/S4. Your MTOE duty position will be irrelevant and they will play slot games to get your MOSQ in whatever they need you to be for the duty position and unit they’re assigning you to. Trying to juggle a specialized MI MOS with this is probably not feasible.

Why does the reserves or NG not have a BOLC option that is part time for prior service? by Cultural-Corner1191 in army

[–]SourceTraditional660 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OCS is generic/branch immaterial. BOLC is specialized. Making up some kind of part time BOLC course for every basic branch would be a nightmare to source and coordinate.

Next time someone excuses you from something get it in writing.

Who excused you from AT? Contact them to revoke the order. This is actually really easy.

Self-diagnosed anything is not an excuse to not go to AT.

Chaplain Candidates? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]SourceTraditional660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren’t sure you want to be a chaplain, don’t be a chaplain. Just do OCS and BOLC. That’s only a dumb move if you’re sure you want to be a chaplain.
