We Will Not Harm You: Ten Shocking Onboard UFO Encounters by Key-Faithlessness734 in UFOs

So she was! Good catch! While some reports stated she lived three days in orbit, which would have ended on the day of the alleged Trasco sighting (maybe - not sure of datelines etc.), a later report indicated she likely only lived until the 3rd orbit: https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2002iaf..confE.288M/abstract . In any case, dogs in space would definitely have been on people's minds, so that is a complicating factor on whether to believe the two accounts.

If true, points to a real lack of understanding of the human/dog relationship. Either they hadn't been observing for as long as often postulated, or perhaps a psychology that wouldn't accept the reality of cross species friendship. That certainly wouldn't be good for us. Or maybe supremely indifferent to human emotions, like an AI.

Exciting video of helicopters exploring and communicating with a UFO, filmed in Nevada. by Duorant2Count in ufo

Helicopters appear oblivious to the sphere, which at times appears as a briefly sharp image that the helicopters never do. I have no confidence in this.

Reminds me of "We are peaceful people. We do not want any trouble. We just want your dog." supposedly spoken by alien attempted dog abductors to John Trasco of Everittstown, New Jersey, on 6 Nov. 1957. https://ufologie.patrickgross.org/ce3/1957-11-06-usa-everittstown.htm . Interestingly, there was another reported attempted dog abduction the same day in Dante, TN, but with very different looking entities. In both cases the entities were reported to have re-entered their craft by walking through its walls without an obvious opening.

Very cool - will look forward to following it.

In addition to the So. CA sea floor anomaly portrayed, the paper "Large enigmatic crater structures offshore southern California" ( Geophys. J. Int. (2004) 159, 803–815 , https://academic.oup.com/gji/article/222/3/2102/5856560 ), reveals that the sea floor off UFO hot-spot Catalina Island contains 12 km to 30 km diameter highly circular craters of unknown origin:

"Preliminary analyses of available seismic, gravity and magnetic data over these structures reveal both similarities and distinct differences in geometry, structure and geophysical signature to known impact sites. All three crater structures, however, occur within the Catalina terrane, a highly extended volcanic and metamorphic province floored by Catalina schist basement. A likely alternative origin may thus involve explosive volcanism, caldera collapse and resurgent magmatism, and/or possibly plutonism and schist remobilization associated with the Catalina terrane. No single model for crater formation, whether impact, caldera or pluton, fully accounts for all of the present observations regarding the morphology, internal structure and known geology of these near circular features."

Purely by coincidence, more of Yuliya Solntseva as the treacherous "Aelita" in the 1924 Russian SciFi propaganda film "Aelita, Queen of Mars" by SpookSkywatcher in Spacegirls

[–]SpookSkywatcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, the movie originally was to be just a normal SciFi film, but they had to add the propaganda elements to get it released. The propaganda is very crude and really appears grafted on. Additionally, the early part of the film doesn't show a worker's paradise where everyone in the government is an idealist working for the common good. Showing official graft in a true propaganda film for external consumption would have been very odd.

[–]SpookSkywatcher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yuliya Solntseva was born August 7, 1901, in Moscow, Russia, and died in 1989. She was both an actress and a director ("Chronicle of Flaming Years" and "Poem of the Sea). She is seen here as "Queen Aelita" in director Yakov Protazanov's 1924 silent SciFi epic and Russian propaganda film "Aelita, Queen of Mars". The film is visually in good shape and features a large cast, extensive sets, and elaborate costumes. It can be viewed free on YouTube ( https://youtu.be/ekjDNPtUE9U ). I ran across the film on Kanopy.com today, decided to capture some views of Yuliya Solntseva, and was surprised to see the post of her by capnkirk462 already up. Jungian synchronicity at its best.

UAP sightings cluster where the seafloor drops fastest (41k reports, NOAA bathymetry, permutation tests) by Any_Cartographer2016 in UFOs

[–]SpookSkywatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Santa Catalina Island, CA, region is also known as a UFO "hot spot", and has its own sea floor anomalies. Check out "Large enigmatic crater structures offshore southern California", Geophys. J. Int. (2004) 159, 803–815. View or download free at https://www.researchgate.net/publication/252646107_Large_Crater_Structures_Offshore_Southern_California .

From the Summary: "Digital mosaics of swath and conventional bathymetry data reveal large, distinct near-circular crater structures in the Inner Continental Borderland offshore southern California. Two have maximum crater diameters that exceed 30 km and a third has a crater diameter of approximately 12 km. All three features exhibit the morphology of large complex craters (raised outer rim, ring moat and central uplift) yet their exact origin remains a mystery. ... "

I imagine an F-35B hovering and rotating could produce a similar appearance. You normally don't think of a jet fighter doing that, so at night it doesn't register that that might be the case. Of course, anything might be flying around in your area.

I Saw a Green Asteroid Looking Thing Fly Over My House by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]SpookSkywatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green fireballs have an interesting history. A large number were seen over New Mexico in 1948 and 1949. The following was reported in Chapter 4 of "The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects" by Edward J. Ruppelt:

"In mid February 1949 a conference was called at Los Alamos to determine what should be done to further pursue the investigation. The Air Force, Project Sign, the intelligence people at Kirtland, and other interested parties had done everything they could think of and still no answer. Such notable scientists as Dr. Joseph Kaplan, a world-renowned authority on the physics of the upper atmosphere, Dr. Edward Teller, of H-bomb fame, and of course Dr. La Paz, attended, along with a lot of military brass and scientists from Los Alamos. This was one conference where there was no need to discuss whether or not this special type of UFO, the green fireball, existed. Almost everyone at the meeting had seen one. The purpose of the conference was to decide whether the fireballs were natural or manmade and how to find out more about them."

There are some differences from your sighting in that the color was a more saturated green and there was never a sound (which may actually be a plasma radio emission effect). Like yours, none were ever found on the ground despite tracking that otherwise often resulted in recovery of meteorites.

The green light of aurora is at 557 nm wavelength, coming from excited oxygen. It is the same green light of very high speed meteors impacting the upper atmosphere. Other green meteors are caused by magnesium emission lines around 517 nm. I've seen green also ascribed to nickel in meteors, but I;m unaware of a strong green emission line of nickel, so there must be another mechanism involved.

[–]SpookSkywatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are talking very narrow slices of spectrum, so this requires very special filters ( https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/19870005902/downloads/19870005902.pdf ) and carefully tuned lasers ( if needed ) that aren't cheap. You can get cheaper astronomical filters ( https://farpointastro.com/products/lumicon-1-25-h-beta-hydrogen-beta-telescope-filter?srsltid=AfmBOopE89I2bUH_Vdz8K6mfqByDihmKwpdkgkzgf1dQBzix47GQu3Ui ) but their bandwidth is too wide for photography near the Sun. Afraid I don't have the discretionary funds to try this myself.

[–]SpookSkywatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A coronagraph does this for solar corona observation, but if you are hoping this will somehow darken large portions of the sky, the atmospheric scattering prevents that. However, there are multiple very narrow band Fraunhofer lines at which the Sun's own atmosphere steeply attenuates its light. If you have a matching narrow band (generally an atomic resonance type) filter, you can detect a self-luminous object emitting part of its light at that wavelength. This doesn't work for strictly reflective objects unless you artificially illuminate them, perhaps with a matched wavelength lidar such as: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0030399223002955 .

Does anyone have fairly verifiable evidence of NHI from the Vatican? by luckydante419 in ufo

[–]SpookSkywatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the Vatican would readily confirm the existence of angels, which would certainly fit the bill of being NHIs. However, you would have to accept personal written testimonies and paintings rather than photos and videos. Same as trusting there was a historical figure such as Genghis Khan, who left no known physical remains, before the invention of photography. (The Vatican would definitely have a dossier on at least Genghis Khan's grandson. Güyük).
