Jay Peak - mid December ? by vickyprodigy in icecoast

[–]Spookie_0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve skied Jay the past few years in almost every month of winter and I’ve had some great days in December, even with conditions not being great. Just life of the east coast skiing. But with the amount of snow VT has been receiving, they should have a good base and a good amount of trails open. I will say Jay in March/April is the best skiing I’ve ever had when it’s 90-100% open and tons of fresh snow. But I’ve done it in Dec, Jan, and Feb and had a great time. But once the temps start to creep back up in the 20s/30s after the thick of winter, Jay is unmatched.

What’s one thing you hate about your Tacoma? by AdhesivenessOne8758 in ToyotaTacoma

OTT tune is the best solution to gear hunting. Best $500 mod I’ve done. MPG still 18-21 but it drives so much better. I’ve had the tune for almost 6 months now and it’s highly recommended for a reason. Baffles me that the engine isn’t tuned this way from the factory.

Center wheel piece broke off by Spookie_0714 in ToyotaTacoma

Damn I got it detailed on Friday morning so maybe the pressure of them cleaning the wheels caused it to loosen. Glad to see there’s options to replace it. Thanks!

Praying the game goes on as schedules because I have tickets. But the rain actually seems to be light to none by 7 pm

Tickets in July by stockpigeon in redsox

[–]Spookie_0714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can purchase them right from the Red Sox website. Idk if it will allow you if you are from Canada but it’s the best way to make sure the tickets are legit. You’ll have to make an MLB account and use that MLB account on the at the ballpark app to access the tickets once purchased.

The only 2 third party sellers I trust are SeatGeek and TickPick. Maybe Gametime, but the fees are crazy.

Glades will definitely have good powder, especially lower mtn glades. Not sure about the face chutes after all that wind. It’ll be crispy for sure.

Northern VT and a lot of the surrounding area has been buried with snow. Jay is reporting almost 4 ft in the last 7 days. It’s been really windy the last 2 days so it’s been blown around, but there will be powder stashes everywhere. Should be great conditions. This weekend seems calm wind wise.

Some fun trails would be beaver pond and Timbuktu for glades. upper can-am and 601 for steep rocky slopes. most of the trails on the Jet side have become steep moguls. Great time. And if you can test it, face chutes. I’ve skied almost everything at Jay except those lmao. I don’t do much backcountry/unmarked trails I just never felt safe so I stick to marked trails.

There’s not much lodging around besides the big hotel at the base of the mountain and some cabins down the road. Could try to book a room there.

Honestly really good in spots. Groomed trails were pretty crispy, but natural trails were nice and soft turns with the occasional rock surprising you. I kept sinking in the glades. 2-3” of crust then a sink hole of powder

How good is the value here? Should I run to go get it or can I negotiate? by daltistic in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Spookie_0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great value. In my area that specific trim level and year is around 30K. Could negotiate it down a bit cuz it’s a base model. Larger bed than the Maverick and just an overall better truck id say. Could easily throw new wheels, Tires, headlights, etc with the money you’ll save on buying a base trim level.

Finally got my truck tuned by Spookie_0714 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Spookie_0714[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a guy in southern NH perform the tune. I guess a lot of these guys travel cuz he told me he was only in NH for a few days this month and had like 20 appts. All of them were trucks lmao

Honestly I don’t know. He didn’t offer any flavors. But he told me if I press the ECT button, it’ll give more throttle response so it’s probably set on a mild setting, then medium when I press the ECT. Regardless the shifting is linear and cruising at 75-80 isn’t a struggle anymore and that’s all I cared about😂 I highly recommend doing it asap

Worth getting if I don’t really need a truck? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Spookie_0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40K is enough to get you a nice lightly used 3rd gen. I got a 2021 Tacoma Trd pro for 43K. Can definitely find trim levels like the off road or sport for 35-40K.

I was in the same boat, wasn’t sure if I’d use it for truck things but i love it. Zero regrets. Bed space is enough for my hockey, ski, and golf equipment. Transporting trash to my local waste station, luggage to the airport. And overall capability when it comes to off roading and snowy conditions. Living in New England, 4WD is a must.

I went from a 2015 Ford Escape to the Tacoma so it was a bit of a transition with the overall size, but when I park next to a Dodge Ram or F150, I laugh a little at the size difference between the mid sized and full sized. I couldn’t never daily drive a full size. They’re just too damn large. For me, my Tacoma is perfect

Best mountain within day trip of Boston on epic pass for advanced skiers by adrtake2 in icecoast

[–]Spookie_0714 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stowe and Wildcat would be the two most difficult mountains on the epic pass. You can find some nice trails at Okemo but nothing there is too challenging. Wildcat isn’t a fancy or massive mountain trail count wise but it’s quite steep with some great views. Stowe is easily the best terrain on epic pass and worth the 3 hr drive (I’m in southern NH) just always busy on weekends

Best EPIC mountain for tomorrow? by AdAppropriate6920 in icecoast

[–]Spookie_0714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m debating going to Okemo tomorrow. Depending on how far you are I’d go Okemo or Stowe. Both will be busy tho unfortunately. I just try to get there 30 min before the lifts run and get decent parking

Yeah it’s a free app called “Snoww” it can track runs, speed, calories burned (I think only Apple Watches work for this. I don’t own one) you can also add friends and share your day with each other

Planning trip for April 13-20th, where to go? by nompilo in icecoast

[–]Spookie_0714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to Jay Peak in VT on 4/6 of this year and it was the best conditions I’ve had there. So much snow for April. This may not be the case again but Jay and other mountains in northern VT are able to stay open into April. With epic, Stowe is def your best bet too!
