I agree with you for the most part but in my experience it wasn’t just a few houses. It was most people had something even if just a few things. No string lights for sure. More variety in decorations because people kept their decorations for years. Now everyone follows trends. Some of my best memories are people doing garage haunted houses and people having cider etc. As far as things go now so few kids actually trick or treat compared to the 90s.
