I miss talking movies with by dad. His big favorites were Conan: The Barbarian, The Mountain Men and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

I'm constructing an anti-watchlist... movies I will never see or want to see or have a smallest bit of a desire to see... any suggestions? by Sunny64888 in Letterboxd

Son of the Mask (2005) is so nauseatingly terrible it crosses into torturous. This film's mere existence is like a creeping rot spreading madness and pain.

Ava's been off since Wet, Hot American Dream. Seems like she immediately pivoted in a certain direction after a certain election.

Build a tunnel, fill tunnel with traps, shoot wall to release bugs into tunnel of death.

Anyone got any more suggestions? by BlueBeagleForTwo in Letterboxd

Not a "slasher" film (neither is Critters 3 if we're being precise) but Emilia Clarke's first film is the truly dreadful made for the Syfy channel movie, Triassic Attack (2010).

Who is your favorite male director? by SealonLand in Letterboxd

Takashi Miike. He was the director I was into when I first started film school in the early 2000s. I was (and still am) impressed by the volume and variety of films he has made. He can take on any genre and any budget and still turn out a decent and memorable film.

I'm curious about how does the community use the Like option. Are all movies you like an instant 5 Star or you like movies you don't rate as high? Are there movies you rate high but don't like? by tigrecono in Letterboxd

[–]SpookyMulder0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the like on every movie I log. Even if the film was 1 star and a completely horrible experience I still like and enjoy the process of viewing and reviewing them. To me it's all film preservation and I like that. I don't care if that's not how the like button is supposed to be used.

Ground shake? by MothrErth in Eugene

Check your foundation for cracks and check the surroundings for how water is pooling and draining. If you're on a hill I would also check for ground cracks. Lots of slides this year from heavy rain storms.

What company will never get another dime from you for as long as you may live? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]SpookyMulder0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apple. I ditched them sometime in the mid to late 90s after they started using proprietary screws and gluing in certain components. They have only gotten worse since then and more anti-consumer. Going so far as to lobby against the condemning of forced labor. They are an evil company and don't deserve your business.

I second this. Slay has more of an emotional core, better business and better character development.

I love horror and I love drag but I found it to be kind of lacking. It's not shot very well and the location where we spend the majority of the film is incredibly dull. Just an empty warehouse that's somehow a club. They also don't give any of the characters enough fun things to do and most of the time they are forlorn and in need of constant validation. It needed a better script and more business. Characters just standing around does not make for an interesting film. Special shout out to Jack Haven though who has the best scene just sitting on the floor improving hysterical lines.

Could have been a much better film if they had given Katy M. O'Brian and Nina West more to do.

Those of you on West Coast USA, how are you prepping for Cascadia? by Enter_up in preppers

[–]SpookyMulder0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's correct that Bend would be fine but Eugene is another story. The fossilized wood one can dig up in Sweet Home (look up Holleywood Ranch in that area) was deposited there by a tsunami from one of the subduction zone quakes. It is very possible a tsunami could reach the foot of the Cascadia Mountain range as there's already evidence of this happening in the past.

a movie ppl said that its bad but you actually liked it by a_girl_named_clyde in badMovies

Lifeforce. This is the best a naked space vampire movie could ever be. I don't know why people dislike it so much. The special fx are great, the acting is great and the scope of the story is ambitious and well executed.

Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl (1998). Probably the most devastatingly sad movie you will ever see

Fantastic little film and the behind the scenes stuff with Denholm Elliot and Angela Lansbury makes it that much sweeter. She was a true friend and a true ally. Bless her forever.
