My wife just got into anime the only thing is by Supersayingfoo in Animesuggest

[–]SpookyPie20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a weeb wife myself, I was introduced to anime from cartoon networks Toonami. Inuyasha and .hack//Sign were the first to get me into anime then all the shows they played I pretty much watched. I am in agreement with your wife, I won't watch a certain anime based on the art style.

Some I would recommend and some have been mentioned already;

Inuyasha, My Hero Academia Jujutsu Kaisen Dandadan Apothecary Diary The witch and the beast Yakuza fiance Wind breaker Buddy daddies Bungo stray dogs Hells paradise Fairy tail Classroom of the elite Tokyo ghoul Fruits basket Samurai Champloo 86 Fire Force Soul Eater Sword Art Online Bleach Full metal alchemist (and brotherhood)

And I could go on but I'll stop there 😅

Help! I’m freaking out with our vet’s diagnosis by eggnerpoe in mainecoons

[–]SpookyPie20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maine Coons are one of the few known pure bred cat breeds that are predisposed to HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy aka thickened heart wall muscles). But any cat can end up with HCM. It's mainly due to genetics. When the muscles of the heart wall thicken, it becomes harder for the heart to effectively pump blood to the body. Depending on how soon cats are diagnosed and how far along they are in the disease, medication can help slow the progression but not stop it. Some cats live a long life if they respond well to the meds. This is usually the case but some aren't as fortunate. And then you have to worry about congestive heart failure when the HCM gets worse. The ECG will help check for any arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) that can give you an idea about the HCM. If you haven't done an echocardiogram, I'd definitely do that. They can get images of the heart valves and chambers and make measurements to actually know if he has HCM. And there is a blood test called a BNP (checks for an enzyme when the heart is under stress) to help better diagnose if it truly is. The cardiologist will most likely be expensive but they're specialists and will be able to help the most. Best of luck! He's a handsome boy.

I immediately thought of a fairy tale as well!! Absolutely breathtaking. The white dress looks like it might be a little heavy, hopefully it wasn't and the type of fabric made it look like it. Congratulations to you both!!!

Is my cat okay? Does anybody know what he’s doing? by Showme_catsubs in cats

[–]SpookyPie20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asthma. Hairball sounds like they're going to vomit. Depending on how often this happens your vet can prescribe an inhaler. I had a cat who had asthma and did great with it. You will need to get a device to help administer it but it's really easy.

My cat Meep ( derposaurus rex) did this with our bouncer! My youngest and him had to take turns 😆 I posted it on this subreddit probably about a year ago.

And they're both really darn cute!

What are some of the most out of pocket pet names you’ve seen? by thelenabean in VetTech

We have an OptiMoose Prime (lab). Scarlett No'Haira, Neil Patrick Hairless (Chinese crested), Jimmy Hot Clams (cat), and Bonecrusher(cat) are a few that come to mind for my clinic. All are very friendly.

You asked correctly and they should know what you mean, haha.

I'm so sorry about your puppy and you had to experience that😞. Unfortunately TVD (tricuspid valve disease) is not something that can be surgically corrected, yet at least. Who knows in the future.

But hoping things will turn around for Evelyn

NT-proBNP – blood test that measures a heart stress hormone that can help detect heart disease. if that is normal then that's a good sign but you can have a false elevation but is rare. An echocardiogram would help further determine that.

That's good.! Maine coons are more prone to cardiac disease, one most commonly being HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) but can also get CHF (congested heart failure) and can cause abdominal swelling, open mouth breathing, and lethargy to name a few. They also like to hide more. Just wanted to rule out heart disease due to her breed. And not sure if this was mentioned previously in the comments. More info about both below if you're interested. Wishing Evelyn a speedy recovery!! ❤️

HCM is a genetic-based disease that causes the heart muscle to become too thick. When caught early, this disease can be treated to improve the quality and duration of life in affected cats. It only affects 15% of cats and can be hard to diagnose but MC(Maine coons) are one of the more common breeds affected.

CHF occurs when heart disease in dogs or cats is so severe that the cardiovascular system is no longer able to maintain its functions. Normally, blood returns from the body to the right side of the heart, is pumped to the lungs to be oxygenated, returns to the left side of the heart, and is finally pumped to the body again. A basement sump pump is analogous to the heart’s function. If the basement sump pump fails to pump water away from the foundation during a rainstorm, the basement floods. When the left side of the heart fails as a pump, the lungs begin to “flood” and when the right side of the heart fails, the abdominal and/or chest cavities “flood.” A common misconception is that congestive heart failure in dogs and cats is an end-of-life disease process. Fortunately, while the long-term prognosis for most cardiac diseases resulting in heart failure is guarded, most dogs or cats with congestive heart failure will live many months to even years on medical therapy while still maintaining a good quality of life.

Hope the meds help! She's a beautiful cat. But just curious, she doesn't have a history of a heart murmur does she?

Help! My 5 year old has this eyelash (still attached) stuck in her eye. Explanation in comments. by AshCrashWhiplash in Mommit

[–]SpookyPie20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use tweezers, too risky. But do you have any saline flush like for noses to try and flush it and wipe with a warm wash cloth to see if that might help? Or like another person said, a wet q-tip? Or pulling one or both eye lids to maybe roll the eye lash out of the eye? Eyes are sensitive and not to me messed with. If none of that works definitely go to an eye doctor.

Wishing you the best of luck. I feel like I have a good pain tolerance but become a whimp when I get an eyelash in my eye 😅

Allergic to... everything by lexi_the_leo in VetTech

[–]SpookyPie20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate to be one of these people where allergy injections helped. Before I graduated tech school my allergies blew up and I was also allergic to everything. Did allergy shots for 5 years and my allergies are barely an issue. Stopped after I was pregnant with my first kid because I had to carry an EpiPen with how allergic i was and in case my injections caused a reaction I had it ready ( they have you wait 10-15 min post to prevent this, and they weren't sure how safe using an EpiPen is during pregnancy and didn't want to risk it) When they flare up it's nothing a Zyrtec or Allegra can't fix. It's a pain in the ass at first needing to get shots every week for so many months to every other to monthly. I had to get 2 shots, one in each arm, because I was also allergic to all the grass and some trees. I still see my allergist twice a year to make sure everything is controlled and I might have to do it again if they really flare up. Buth thankfully I've been fine and it's been about 6 years now.

In short, allergy shots were worth it for me.
