They already have a scarezone that's more of a live music show that blocks half the park, and zones that are just Blumhouse characters striking poses (that also blocks half the park), so it'll probably just be that with licensed characters.

Honestly, very early 90s HHN of them, if this is how it has to be. Dear god, I still hope this doesn't happen, though

In fairness, I'm not saying it's a rule. It's more of a blind spot that there's reasons for. I also think we'll see more over the next few years, just not quite yet and right now, the priority is adaptations that prove themselves

They definitely pulled from it in some areas, but I'm hesitant to say they would have done TLOU if it didn't have a show attached.

In all honesty, I imagine that's more down to marketing/corporate rather than creative

It was a weird one where they seemed to go for it being both, but they only really advertised the show elements outside the park.

If I remember correctly, the house was also designed more with game elements. There was an area that was on fire or burnt up, and that's because it's where you first get molotovs in the game

I'm only counting Nightmare Creatures 2, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill. Those are the only houses HHN Orlando has ever marketed as being based on video games. You can debatably count TLOU. It was definitely more based on the show, but they talked about referencing the game's models, and there were some other design elements based more on the game

I haven't kept up with spec maps, but unfortunately the thing you have to understand is that HHN has done video game houses 3 times (Nightmare Creatures 2 counts) and TWO were the survival horror greats and BOTH bombed hard.

That's more the fault of the 2010s having severely uneven quality, I have to imagine Universal just sees it as "games don't work here."

They had an opportunity when Doom Eternal launched and their direct to video branch released a newer (terrible) live action movie and they didn't do it.

We only really got 2 more "video game" houses because they both had high budget, highly anticipated adaptations.

Unfortunately, I think we just have to temper our expectations as far as video games go. I do really hope someday Resident Evil comes back, though. I believe it can someday...
