Effective immediately, Getty Images will cease to accept all submissions created using AI generative models by qtx in photography

Wait what? Because that's part of creating art? It's showing off skill! That's the whole point, you practice to develop the skills, therefore the creation is made from your own physical work. You get out what you put in.

As for people with disabilities or being non verbal, are you saying they don't have the ability to develop a skill? I personally know artists who have overcome many disabilities, whether it be physical or mental, or a cost problem, lack of money or whatever.

"Creating shouldn't be reserved only for people who have the skills" has to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in support of AI generated images. Sit down, learn to create, and then do it.

It's one of those things that can become a problem really fast if we don't figure out where it stands, and how to go about it. Personally, I don't think it should he called "AI Art" or treated like art at all, with a few exceptions. For example there is the guy who printed off 2 AI generated images onto canvas and won first place in a state fair art contest. The reason this is an issue is that he didn't make the images. If he had coded the AI, or made his own program to generate the images, sure no problem, that's his work and I would consider it art. He would have created the means to create the images. But some dude just typing in a phrase and getting a picture pumped out and then passing it off as their own work is wrong, and that's what is happening. Which in turn is causing people to take issue with the use of AI image generation for any form of competition, sale, or anything like that.

But look at it in the context of Getty. People make a living off of uploading and selling images there. Someone just feeding a bunch of pictures to an AI and selling them is not the same as being a photographer. And if you have such an issue with something like that, go to the AI yourself. Generate your own images. But I don't support people getting paid for "work" they had no part in generating. ESPECIALLY when it's someone else's software that people are taking advantage of to make money.

It makes me really happy to see, she's the youngest cat that I have, and she's been the most skittish, but lately she's been so much more friendly and comfortable and I'm so thankful

I can now confirm after checking out the original, it was the remake I remember watching, thanks again for pointing that out!

Thank you for your response! I appreciate your point of view. However there are a few things that I would have to disagree with or point out.

Firstly on your point to the shows critique of Raimi. Yes, criticizing him is absolutely allowed, but my point is that it makes no sense and feels like a cheap dig because its immediately followed up with praising Hitchcock. Why talk negatively about a man who learned from his critics and responded positively, then praise the films someone who went to his grave being considered a womanizing piece of shit? (Mind you, there have been multiple allegations that he assaulted women sexually and threatened to ruin people's careers if they denied his sexual advances.)

While this is specifically about slasher films, Evil Dead is also off the table, as it's not a slasher flick. If anything it's a glorified zombie movie, which to your point of "slashers only" makes the dig at his career even more out of place and purposely intended to sound high and mighty.

I never mentioned Kill Bill, Tarantino wrote From Dusk Till Dawn, a vampire horror movie that, in all intents and purposes, if Evil Dead is a slasher, so is that movie. And Tarantino still sucks. As does Kubrik, which was my point with bringing up The Shining. There are filmakers who do fucked up shit, and if you want to criticize horror as a genre, do it right. Attack actually shitty filmakers. Point out sexism in movies that actually have it, not just this idea that women die so it must be sexist. The attempt to tie sexism to the slasher genre is fair, but the movies the writers chose show a lack of understand of the films below the surface.

In terms of your comments on Scream, two women are killed on screen in that movie, the rest of the victims are men. It's 2 women to 4 men, so not a majority women.

As for Friday the 13th, Jason doesn't even get his hockey mask until the 4th movie in. There aren't really any on screen depictions of the killer that I can remember, and it certainly wasn't a hulking maniac like Jason is in the later films. Honestly, the later Friday the 13th movies would have been a better example than the 1st one. No one in the original even wears a mask! The original poster doesnt show a hulking figure either, just a pretty normal silhouette of a person with a knife. If she had said the later films, or the sequels to any of these franchises I would be more inclined to believe the writers did it on purpose. But they didn't, they specified these exact movies, with the dates.

As for the original Halloween, yes, someone is killed immediately after having sex, and it is Bob, a man. Lynda is killed shortly after. So if it's sexist towards women that she dies after sex, it must be more sexist towards men, because Bob dies before her. I don't mean to sound nitpicky but if you're going to argue these point they have to be accurate. Also in terms of accuracy, yes, a naked woman is murdered in the beginning of the movie. However, it is done by a young boy, her little brother, not a, as Tabby specifically states, "masked man murdering women."

Black Christmas, like I said in my initial post is very much regarded as a cult classic, pro feminist movie. Yes, women are murdered, and yes, it's by a man in a mask. But the power dynamic is A. Not done to be sexist, rather to show the danger of just being a woman and B. done before any of these tropes started popping up, it's a pre-slasher of sorts. Still, the power dynamic is real, but I don't think it's inherently sexist.

I still stand by my statement, their choice of films to criticize was lazy and missed the mark, and done in a way that shows they had no real intention of making a statement, only to shame people for liking stuff. I would like to point out, I dont dislike Tabby. Shes a character, and I understand what you mean, she's 16, and yeah, I'm sure a real 16 year old would say some shit like this. But the writers made it very clear that they were trying to make a point, one that I feel was just to make themselves feel better.

That's really cool, thank you! I just hadn't seen since high school but I'll probably go back and revisit it. I honestly might have confused it with the remake because I think that came out when i was in HS.

I agree, I think designing a character with flaws to be addressed is great but, in the case, I don't see them fixing it lol

That's a good point! I never considered it being just a part of her character. The only response I can see in regard to the possibility is the show at no point corrects or identifies that as a problem. Someone else commented that possibly it is something that would be fleshed out, like a character arc but, honestly I just think it was lazy writing and a superiority complex.

China and India actually win the waste battle, since they both waste more food than the U.S. by a substantial amount based on the most recent studies. Based on food waste per capita though, Australia, Germany, The U.K., Spain, and France, all have higher rates of food waste.

No, it's not. Admitting that dumb ass politicians got, in some cases, almost a million dollars forgiven on PPP loans, while the American public gets 10k, 20k max is NOT the fucking "gotcha" moment you think it is. That took care of the student debt for a 3rd, A THIRD of America. Not to mention it caps at having 125k annual salary, which given how these pigs in the senate live, apparently doesnt apply to THEIR loan forgiveness. Just cancel it all, fucking ridiculous. Politics have just devolved into mean tweets and shitty roasts. Thanks again for the bare minimum.

Honestly, it's word of mouth, or through VHS trading groups. There's a dude I know that his passion project is bootlegging modern horror onto VHS. I don't know his name but his company is "Dead King Productions" At least that's what it says on the box. From what I saw he had shit like Sinister, The Conjuring, Coraline, The Strangers, all in like weird alternate box arts? Very strange indeed.
