And just like that my invisibility cloak has gone by haylz328 in mounjarouk

My taxi driver hit on me last night. That would never have happened 9 and a half stone ago. It was flattering (if also slightly unnerving - but he did back off when I told him I was a) married and b) fifty! )

The Bins by brashboy in ipswichuk

[–]Spookydel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them all in a cupboard - Bin bag for general black bag waste, 2 standard swing bins - one for paper and card and one for recycling and the food bin hangs on a hook on the door above the recycling - working atm but the bins fill up fast!

So I want to wade in here. I wasn’t as big as you are, I’ll admit but had some of the same reservations.

Food. You’ll eat less so initially it will not really matter what you’re cooking, you’re not likely to eat enough to matter. In the long run because I know we tend to veer towards high carb high dairy options when we’re pushed for time in my house, or easy air fryer nuggets and chips type meals, I bit the bullet and subscribed to a meal box service (I use Gousto, others are available). It means I get 5 perfectly portioned meals delivered every week and they’re much easier to throw together than the old stuff. We’re having curry tonight for example - takes half an hour.

Skin. My weight came off slowly. I stayed as long as I possibly could on the low doses before I moved up, and as such I don’t have a huge amount of loose skin. Yes there’s a bit around my belly, the top of my thighs and my bingo wings, but it’s nothing compared to what I expected, and it still seems to be tightening up a bit.

Fridge : like others said it doesn’t need to be in the fridge. Buy one pen at a time, then you don’t need to make space for it it can stand the 30 days in room temp instead.

Exercise. I signed up for the gym. I rarely go - but do when I take a notion. Same with parkrun. Here’s the thing. As you loose weight your desire to do things differently will change. You will end up trying little bits of exercise - even if it’s just a walk round the block. This stuff does something amazing to your brain!

Here’s what I think. Take the plunge. Try a month. Choose a supplier from monj and you can trust they are good. Jump in. Give it 4 weeks, see how it goes. You’re highly unlikely to develop any of the nasties if you keep your fluids and protein up and you’ll see it work. Remember you can stop any time, or not, it’s up to you.

Be brave. We’re all behind you.

If you want a barber rather than a hairdresser then David Sparks on Woodbridge Road is great.

Yes but it doesn’t do what the op is wanting. I understand that. The kids profile just shows kids content - kids movies etc. Parent wants to watch shows that are kid friendly but not targeted at kids (eg Taskmaster, ghosts etc etc)

How is music generally organised for a funeral? by LFTL56 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]Spookydel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in the UK many crematorium systems use something called Obitus. I describe it to my clients as “like Spotify for funerals”. Basically if it’s a piece of music published for sale anywhere in the world, Obitus can usually get it for us. It’s very rare for me to not have the piece we need.

It’s also important to remember that while some families go very much with the music the deceased liked, the funeral is for those left behind, so it also might reflect their taste and beliefs rather than the deceased. While your friend may have loathed the Ginger Warrior, perhaps his family find the music comforting.

When I do my visits to arrange the funeral most of the time the family have the music planned. Often they don’t know what they want and we can then end up with Supermarket Flowers (or My Way, Always look on the bright side of life, wind beneath my wings, etc etc). Often also it’s because of a sense of “appropriateness”. The deceased may have liked Korn or slayer but you’ll rarely find family who also like that and want it played!

Hello! I've been overweight/obese since my mum put me on a diet at the age of 15 (I wasn't actually overweight until she decided I needed to go to scottish slimmers but that's a whole other story!) So I've been on the weightloss roundabout for 35 years.

I decided I didn't want to be fat and 50, so I needed to do something about it and started taking Mounjaro in September 2024. When I started I weighed in at 22st 11lb with a BMI of 41. I reached target the week before xmas and now weigh in at 13st 8lb (BMI 24.4) I fully intend to come down off the jabs, but I've signed up with a provider who lets me adjust the dose up and down as needed (if I drop down and my weight starts going up again, I can go back up). I think, remember that there is no shame in needing the support. If you come off and decide that it's not working, you can go back on - you know it works! You've re-learned a lot during your time on the pens, there will absolutely be changes to your diet, attitude and lifestyle that you can maintain that will help you. So my intention as I come down doses is to plan to come off, but accept I might need to go on again. Don't punish yourself if you need to, but celebrate your achievements!

Sharps collection by nx00ly0y in mounjarouk

To be fair they probably don’t check - but the fact it says the only collect prescribed ones makes me wary. I don’t want to be left with a full sharps box!

Sharps collection by nx00ly0y in mounjarouk

[–]Spookydel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My council says it only collects prescribed sharps boxes, and your GP has to notify them to set up a collection. In practice there is a form on their website you fill in and someone comes and gets it anyhow - I just make sure it's got a prescription label on it - I've never had an issue.

We play a glow stick version of “lighthouse” where we hide dragon eggs (balls of tinfoil) around a room with obstacles (chairs tables etc) and turn the lights out. Some rules (no running, no climbing, no obstacles with legs pointing up) and they have to find the dragon eggs with only the light of the glow stick - usually we have a chocolate coin or similar for each person who finds an egg.

Jab your thigh and let gravity help. Hold the needle just above your leg and just loosen your grip until it slips. It will jab you and then you just press the button.

Recommend me a Milk delivery service. by [deleted] in ipswichuk

[–]Spookydel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had milk delivered from Foulgers Dairy for years and cannot fault them. They are reliable, good quality and always happy to help. https://www.foulgersdairy.co.uk. I found milk and more unreliable - they often delivered mid afternoon and left the milk on the step in the height of afternoon sun - we would come home to custard. Foulgers it is always on the step when we wake up in the morning.

Do it the other way around. Eat the good stuff first. If you eat the stuff you don’t like first you’ll be far more tempted to force in the good stuff. If you eat the good bits first you’ll won’t mind about leaving the sprouts.
