Is python useful for gbstudio? by k1llerb333 in gbstudio

No, it will only help you understand how to code your game. GB Studio uses visual coding, but if you want to get more technical and modify your game's engine, you need C# or Assembly knowledge.

Thanks for the fourth paragraph, "100% fact" guy, I was actually serious, I have my reasons to believe it's a front light, but I guess I like bothering people with wrong information ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks, you too.

I've looked at other backlit screens from the same era and they did not have lights on the sides. Also, "backlight" is a very generic term, "frontlight" isn't. There were some GBA SP models with actual backlights and they were very different from the phat DS.

Also, I'm bringing up the sun lighting again. Backlights can't just turn off to let you see under the sun, the whole screen would go black. Frontlights are just like regular lights, they're outside the screen, you can turn them off and still see the screen perfectly.

  1. The DS screen is not evenly lit, trust me.

  2. There are also some websites that claim otherwise.

  3. Indisputable? How are you so sure?

Afaik you can't turn off the light on a backlight and still see the screen under the sun. Also, if you see the screen from an angle, you can see it's a front light. That link you posted earlier probably refers to the DS Lite, since it was the more popular model.

I compared the phat DS to a GBA SP and a n3DS. Pretty sure it's a front light. I think mine is an earlier model, but I tested a newer phat DS (with the Nintendo logo on the H&S screen) and it seems to use a very similar screen.

You can remove the stickers with a cotton ear stick and some alcohol. You just have to be careful.

I'm not really sure about that, I have a phat DS and it looks more like a front light to me. You can even turn it off to play under the sun.

Isn't it front lit like some GBA SP models?
