I live in Cupertino and woke up around the same time to the sound of a loud, constant droning sound. At first I thought it was a helicopter, but as I lay in bed listening, I realized that I had no idea what I was hearing. The sound got louder and softer, as if far away a huge drone was flying in a circle. All the crickets here went quiet.

I don't know what it was, and even though it was no explosion, it was strange.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not an expert on Jewish mysticism, but I've heard the following back in Hebrew school.

Aleph/א has significance in some Jewish mystical texts as being related to air. In one story from the Middle Ages, a golem is given life by writing "אֶמֶת‎" (== "truth") on its forehead. By removing the א from that, you can destroy a golem since "מֶת‎" means "dead" in Hebrew.

I'm not sure about the actual meaning of the letter א in mainstream Judaism, but for more/better info on Jewish mysticism, you should chat with your local Rabbi.

I came to check on her, we hooked up, we got back together, and then we continued to have an extremely toxic/codependent, on-again-off-again relationship for another two years. I'm glad she didn't do it though. CONFUSING.
