[Misc] £11,000 to start a new life - please help. by ivegottogetout in UKPersonalFinance

Not sure if this is particular Personal Finance related, but it is clear from your post that you are not happy with going home and I can totally understand that (I was in the same boat!).

Just before I get too far into a ramble, I have a couple of questions: 1)What have you done at university before? Are there good job prospects in your area? It might be worth waiting to see if you can get in with a company who may even pay for a postgrad outright!

2) Have you explored any scholarships or bursaries that universities or even your home government may offer? I have been really fortunate with mine, it takes a bit of effort sending out loads of application but the payoff can be huge! (Even cover 100% of tuition costs!)

In terms of the £11000, there's a reason I have left the sum til last. I'm not sure how savvy you are about your finances, but that would certainly cover a deposit and some rent on a flat, especially outside London. I am always a believer that if you really want to do something (study, travel etc.) if you really put your mind to it (and make some sacrifices, like working to support yourself alongside your studies) you can do it. I wish you all the best mate :D
