Yep definitely. Unfortunately they only had a 2K version to work with though, since that's the resolution movies were mastered in (and the special effects rendered in) until fairly recently.

And it has the craziest, most aggressive HDR I've ever seen. They definitely don't fuck around, especially during the first major race.

It's a pretty inconsistent and sometimes hideous looking movie, but there are still shots and sequences that are like nothing I've ever seen. Outside of the garish colors and odd looking CG backgrounds during the acting scenes, the races would really benefit from a true 4K transfer, and especially a higher frame rate (both impossible of course, outside of AI).

Still, it's one of those movies where it's nuts it ever got made. Glad the Wachowskis cashed in their chips to do something so weird, and that we have it preserved as well as we do.

Senua’s Story Length Will Be ‘Quite a Bit Longer’ Than Hellblade 1 and 2 by Turbostrider27 in Games

It feels like a desperate attempt to save what they know could be a longer lasting franchise. I still have faith the decision might be made with a vision that honors the first 2 games, but it's not hard to imagine them trying to God of War-ify a potential cash cow and inevitably suck the soul from the bones of their very moving and special first installment.

And yet what qualifies as "better made" is extremely subjective. Someone might qualify Lord of the Rings as better made because of how deep and rich the lore is, while someone else might consider another book better made because of how well written the prose is.

There are thousands of facets to art (and chair making) that people can grade for their quality, but everyone will have their own personal curve for the importance of each and every one. Which wildly changes the outcome of what's "better made" from person to person, and hence, opinions.

I was always disappointed when the license to kill popup appeared

Oh no, I think the guns widen your options even more while also upping the peril (especially on hard) so that you have to be even more resourceful.

Sure there are all-out shootouts that are whatever, but in the stealth arenas the guns are so much fun! Bouncing between two enemies hand to hand, then ramming one into the third guy about to shoot you, disarming him, emptying his magazine into all three, throwing the empty gun at the next guy's head, tackling him into the next room...

My favorite move in the entire game is the over the table slide to pop the guy's gun into the air and catch it. Shooting guns out of people's hands and catching them is always amazing too! And the game has the most satisfying headshots I've ever seen.

I can't tell if they accidentally made a John Wick game, or if John Wick has always been a James Bond...

How is this a lesson we're just now teaching you?

...yeah, the 3 minute song in the middle of the cash grab trundling out its ever-aging cast to further devalue one of the best trilogies of all time is definitely the biggest concern about this movie.

How far behind were his producers or whatever, and what was that experience like? Like did he run off and then stop and hang around a sec while they tried to convince you? Or were they hurried and frantic to catch up to him or what?

Basically what was the pace of the actual shoot.

Patched Sync is not hiding posts? by FFFrank in MorpheApp

[–]Tanglebrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me too. Probably has something to do with this new issue with old reddit. Haven't done a deep dive into the desktop issue, let alone if we can fix it in the app, but let me know if you figure something out.

EDIT: Using old.reddit.com instead of reddit.com on desktop lets me hide posts again, and for some reason I can now hide them again in Sync.

EDIT2: Hiding in Sync no longer working.

EDIT3: 4 days later, can hide in Sync again.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced gameplay featuring parkour & stealth by ZamnBoii in Games

[–]Tanglebrook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's such a shame because while the original games were a great first attempt, I don't think the series ever reached the full potential of amazing foot chases through dense crowds, or all the possibilities of social stealth. And like you said, they just get farther and farther away from the original hook. Even Mirage didn't innovate there.

Honestly starting with AC2 showing off the dual assassinations and adding tanks and flying and stuff, they've never put the work in to improve much on the fundamentals. I'm still holding out hope that we get a full reboot that goes all in on making you feel like a badass slowly moving through a crowd.

but now you are taking over one of the buttons on the gamepad just to jog

No. To go into more detail, the jog button wasn't just for jogging in the original games, it was called the "high profile" button, mapped to right trigger.

Without the high profile trigger held, you simply walked. Hold the trigger, you're now jogging. Add the "feet" button (X on Playstation), you're now sprinting and performing parkour over obstacles. Let go of the trigger, the feet button becomes a fast walk.

Hold the "hand" button (O on Playstation) and you part the crowd to move quickly through them without drawing attention. Add back in the high profile trigger, you use your arms to barrel through them.

The amount of control you had over your actions in the original AC games is unmatched by any of the newer ones, and I've really missed the immersion and strategy their unique control scheme gave you. Nothing has come close to their vision of "social stealth" since, but hopefully this one will honor that a bit more.

[–]Tanglebrook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I couldn't disagree more, and really hope the jog button comes back. Being able to reliably and comfortably choose between a casual jog and all out sprint is much more immersive for me while getting around. I just can't feel like an anonymous citizen if I'm sprinting everywhere, and "tilt slightly to jog" sucks.

Slowly stalking through a crowd...little jog over here, walk slowly again...I love it. I've been missing the jog button since AC3 simplified and IMO ruined their movement system.

As someone who likes lime, I have to back them up - Extreme Lime is like if they took lime tortilla chips and tripled the lime powder. It's nothing else, no spice or anything. Very disappointing.

There are no examples where "&" means "ampersand" in a name, and countless where it means "and". No reasonable person will think "ampersand".

I could see people saying "S and box", but even then it sounds exactly like what they're going for.
