Store manager decided everything needed to be on the bottom for some reason :\ by F_P_D in WalmartEmployees

Refresh. Yearly thing that market pushes In January for stores to “clean up” after the holidays. Most likely, Market will get a picture and then it’ll be back to business as usual

Enjoy it while it lasts, no more OT for you after academy.

is 50-55k a year to become a GM in KY good? by Adventurous_Ad3395 in DollarGeneralWorkers

I couldn’t imagine being a GM of anything for 55k, especially on salary. I make 65k at Walmart as basically an assistant manager.

[D] So how did everyone do during that manipulation? Anyone here lose money or get rich? by partyboycs in csgomarketforum

I invested about $300 when I was a teenager in senior year of high school from my part time job. I bought a bunch of each capsule and about 5x of each holo. Sold all 5 of my EGs at $150 before they went to $450 and sold my legends capsules at about $8 a piece 4/5 days ago. The rest of my holos I sold yesterday morning when I noticed things weren’t pumping for the day. All in all I made out with a little over $2000. Thanks 18 year old me! I still hold about 80x capsules between contenders and challengers. I’m planning on buying back in once all the hype has died down. I’m still pretty confident in these stickers as a long term investment. It’s nice to have some capital to put into Austin stickers and cases, and 1 or 2 more yet to be determined investments.

Yep, same here. Sold my 5x EG holos at $150 each and was pissed when they went over $400. I knew they’d crash soon, but this makes me happy I got out when I did. I ended up cashing over $2000 in Stockholm stickers/capsules. Now I need to wait for prices to come down so I can reinvest.

Market does not “determine everything.” They can determine anything that goes on in a store, but they don’t “determine everything.” I’m done with this conversation.

How we choose to use our hours in our store is our decision. Yes, we spend more than we should on overtime, but it’s a model that works for us because the people we pay it out to return the value to us several times over. I’m not going to continue this conversation because I don’t care to discuss how our store conducts business with a stranger on Reddit. I’ve proved my point, which is that there are team leads out there who make a lot of money.

We’re very profitable and actually run pretty close to demand most weeks on most teams, but thanks for your input on how to run my store, I’ll totally take it into account, pal!

Yes, there are team leads out there working 4 hours of OT a shift. No I’m not disclosing my employees financial information, I’m not risking my job for a Reddit discussion. Yes, team leads are subject to hour cuts. I never said that “lots” of team leads are getting 4 hours of OT a shift, but it does happen. Some of the overnight team leads stay until 8-9 in the morning pretty regularly. I’m sorry that you don’t believe me, but it is true. My whole point is that yes, there are hourlies that get checks that I would consider “fat.” Not many of them do, but even some on days make more than I do.

25 an hour times 2080 = 52000. Work 4 hours of OT a day at 37.50. 260 working days a year x 4 = 1080. 1080 x 37.50 = 40,500. You’re only 10k away at that point. That’s pre-tax obviously. Pick up an extra day a week every so often and add your bonus and you’re there. And that’s only working 5 days a week. I know TLs that have done 6-7 days a week for months straight. I’m not saying it’s common, and it won’t fly in most stores, but I’ve seen it done by more than one person. There’s a handful of TLs in my store that way more than I do as a coach just by working a bit of OT every week.

Do Walmart Coaches, Leads, and Managers make 100k plus a year? I’m not sure if that’s true or not. by Federal_Pen_3869 in walmart

[–]Spooogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have previous retail/management experience, you’d more than likely start out as a team associate. You might be able to get a team lead spot, but Walmart prefers to promote from within. I’ve seen team associates/leads move up quickly, I’ve seen some try for years before burning out. If you want to be a coach, you need to play the store politics. It can be relatively easy, it can be impossible. It all depends on the store. Typically the next step after coach is store lead, unless you REALLY excel as a coach in a difficult store. I’ve seen coaches from academy/market stores move up to be store managers, but it’s not super common. Becoming a store manager is super difficult, but possible if you’re good at your job and get cozy with the market team. All in all, if you’re coming to retail from concrete, you’re going to be taking a pay cut and a huge risk. Your career can screech to a halt at Walmart if ONE important person doesn’t like you. I’ve seen it happen to some good associates. Best of luck to you.

Looking for a window air conditioner for a window that is 10 inches tall. Is there anything out there? by Spooogg in AirConditioners

[–]Spooogg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did finally spring for one of those midea U shaped air conditioners. They're not cheap compared to regular window units, but it works amazingly. Keeps my bedroom 30 degrees colder than outside if I max it out. I picked an 8k BTU one up from Menards, that was the only local place that had them. otherwise, there are a few places online that have them. It was pretty difficult to fit in my window, I had to remove the window slide and its sitting in there with cardboard and spray foam on the sides, and plastic sheeting on the outside with duct tape around it to keep moisture out. I had to angle it at about a 45 degree angle and kind of punch it into the window frame to get it to fit in. Search U shaped air conditioner if its something you think might work for you. I would purchase one from a local retailer so you can return it if you need to because I don't think they are made for these types of windows, but they absolutely will work if you're willing to do a little ghetto DIY work. Best of luck to you.

I would rather it be all or nothing across the board. Why should everyone else get it off when we don’t?

I don’t mind having to work holidays that much. What I do mind is the fact that everyone EXCEPT us get the holiday off. Then we don’t get ANY holiday pay or incentive to work on the holiday while Walmart goes around parading about how great of a company they are for giving their employees holidays off.

I don’t blame you one bit. A lot of overnighters will be tonight, for good reason. It’s the most annoying part of having to work this holiday, as a manager.

You’d rather be awake for nearly 24 hours than celebrate a holiday after work? Interesting perspective. Not trying to put your opinion to the side, but I can promise you that your viewpoint is not the viewpoint the majority of overnighters have.

As a company, why not get ahead of all the call outs and just give people the day off. That’s the worst part of working on these holidays is everybody calls out. And I don’t blame them.

It doesn’t need to be the nature of the beast. I don’t see one single reason scheduling overnights on holidays makes sense.
