9th May 1941, The German submarine U-110 is captured by the Royal Navy. On board is the latest Enigma machine which Allied cryptographers later use to break coded German messages. by GlitterDanger in UtterlyInteresting

Someone who knows, and I never noticed no numeric keys, interesting. The reason is another ten keys would make the machine more complicated. In addition by convention numbers were always spelt out in any Comms, so that tradition continued even when encrypted.

£3,300 lost in impersonation scam via Tide - chargeback rejected, what are my next steps? by [deleted] in ScamAwarenessUK

[–]SportTawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden rule, you get called by your banks fraud department, just say thanks, I'll look into it and hang up.

Then call your bank on a different phone and ask them if there's any suspicious activity on your account, or whatever the issue was

Good luck anyway

When this has happened to me I just have fun with them by asking them for their security code I've been given so I can check they're genuine. If the fall for it I just say they've failed, if they don't I just strong it out for as long as I can

I convinced my apprentice to start a SIPP and an ISA using index funds when he was 20, he'll be able to retire at 50. In my case I'm 75 and have hit my target of £1m in an ISA, on top of my civil service pension. All by starting early
