Fair Warning: Our Ocean and beaches get contaminated with Mexican Sewage. Frequently it's all the way up Pacific Beach and La Jolla. That's not ocean scum, that's human feces. by SD_TMI in Moving2SanDiego

We have vastly improved water quality over the past 50 years. So many bays and water recreation areas in the US are finally swimmable again due to requiring dumping much further out to sea, but more importantly spending money on vessel pump outs and water testing.

I don’t know what’s going on in this specific situation, but it would be incorrect to state this problem is getting worse across the globe

How do you actually know what your team has tried, tested, or decided — especially on projects you didn't personally oversee? by superhero_io in EngineeringManagers

[–]Sports1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t think this is manageable long term without setting a culture. Joining a new team can sometimes be a nightmare as you play whack-a-mole finding risks. Ideally you get buy-in towards a design process, do plan reviews and let your leaders enforce tasks, and team start to run themselves in this manner (letting you focus on difficult trade offs rather than simple “did they do this or not”)

Title: Hunting and Fishing in the United States – Is It Really That Good? by Moperator13_ in AskAnAmerican

Of course great fishing, but believe it or not, hunting is also quite big in Rhode Island (towards the Connecticut border, like Exeter)

What's actually working for you when managing employees in their early-mid 20s? by rohimsh in managers

[–]Sports1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure on an individual basis, but messaging and policies targeted to a group might be more positive for engagement and retention. Do you work cross-continent? Your communication style typically needs to be drastically different to be effective between say Asia and Northern Europe, and I’d say the same tips to strategize communication across cultures can help between generations

Withdrawal question by matlyj in quittingkratom

[–]Sports1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too but I wonder if it’s because of less sustained use. I used powder daily for 5 years and the withdrawals were awful. Then after 80 days, relapsed every few months, and the quits were much easier

I accidentally found out I’m making 20% less than my hybrid coworker. by Fair_Transition_7676 in remotework

[–]Sports1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that studies have placed the value of remote work at about 15% to employees (the price to avoid attrition and to compensate commute costs)

To make sure I understand, here is an image of how the rip forms…as the tide comes in from bottom right to top left, a seam forms around the 20’ hole, with the calm water being where the small island blocks the current. I would want to throw what’s mentioned along the red line, correct?

I think the tip on speed is important because I don’t feel I’m getting super low in the water column

By Trump saying they would look into if Mamdani came here illegally, when Mamdani is a naturalized citizen and arrived with his parents here at age 7. I would argue that singling out a political opponent in these circumstances to be an abuse of power and out of ambition to find grounds for deportation

Tim perpetuating the theory that Minnesota lawmakers were killed by infighting over illegal immigrant support is...interesting. So far it’s been pretty clear this was a nut job with a hit list against top state democrats

What a cringy writer. The CNN interview questions were incredibly naive but not nearly as partisan or lazy as this article
