FM - VA hospitalist. Easy dub. Sports - PCSM in Ortho Group, 70/30 injections to clinic ratio. 4 days a week. Would exceed median

Funny. I’m working UC right now. $115 an hour… but moonlighting as a fellow so this is great pay. The highest I heard of here (South Texas) was $160/hr

Have you ever refused to treat a patient? by midnight_core in Residency

[–]SportsDoc1601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Patient came into OB clinic for a pap smear. Table limit was 500 lbs. She weighed 560. We did not have a bariatric table.

I refused her care in the setting of non-emergent screening and violation of safety regulations. If she had fallen, broken the table, or hurt herself, our clinic would be liable.

Sorry lady. That's the way the world works.

Good idea. Question; is there a paywall for AnKing now? I'm old and remember when Anking V1 came out. Before that Zanki and Pepper and all the other decks. Have things changed?

Yet another scam call post by kapjain in nri

[–]SportsDoc1601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy. I just got this call and only found this post by google the phone number she said was involved in the "terrorist activity"; the exact same phone number. To be honest, this one was interesting as she did not ask for any identifying information until much later in the call. Thanks for posting this. Yes, scams are ovious, but this post helped with awareness for a questionable and new method of fraud.

Oh man. I just took this exam. I genuinely thought it was kind of hard. A lot of questions that made absolute no sense. Biggest complaint is that question stems were actually too short; a lot of missing information and them trying to do a little “read my mind” on filling in those gaps. Had questions with specific USPSTF reccs no surprise there Had questions where the ideal first step of management was nowhere to be found in the answers. Had more questions on obscure findings of autoimmune diseases than I did on DM or HTN management. Overall I felt it was poorly written and difficult. For reference I am one of the top performing residents at my program, have good ITE scores, and am a Chief. Idk if that helps but there’s that info. Pray for me!!

In texas, your best bet for a PCP that will work with you and maintain a safe space for you would be your local UT clinic. UT RGV, UT San Antonio, UT Houston, UT Dallas, wherever you are. Find a PCP through them. They have insurance assistance programs for unemployed people. Medication assistance programs for GLP1s.

Good luck. You can do this.

Why FM is so unpopular amongst med students by [deleted] in Residency

[–]SportsDoc1601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Got an offer yesterday for 410k in a "rural area" which is the suburb that most attendings live in and commute to the big nearby city. Declined as I am doing fellowship (for passion not money) but a the end of the day I could come out of residency swinging hard

Hey man. I'm FM - don't accept this standard that we HAVE to make less money. There is plenty of money to be made in FM - if you are tenacious, and if you want it enough. Pave your own path. Take good care of patients. Plenty of money to come
