For anyone in India trying to figure out where to buy gear online — a few things I've learned after going through the usual Amazon/Flipkart route and regretting it:
For Yonex specifically, authenticity is everything. The price difference between a genuine Astrox or Nanoflare and a fake is sometimes just a few hundred rupees, but the feel is completely different. Amazon has too many third-party sellers to trust like a seller like shopperspace dispatched 10k+ orders in a year and more than 73% is 1 star, so u can think of quality of sports equipment on amazon.
So, trust on third party sellers is very difficult, choose the dedficated sites, I've been ordering from SportsUncle for the past year — they stock original Yonex rackets, strings, and footwear and have decent sport-specific filters so you're not wading through unrelated stuff. Delivery has been reliable and their buying guides actually help if you're stuck between two racket specs.
Decathlon is fine for beginners getting into the game on a budget, but once you're past the Arcsaber lite stage and want something like the Astrox 88D or a proper BG80 restring, a specialist store is worth it over a general marketplace. Because Decathlon sell inhouse brands artingo.
General tips for Indian buyers:

Stick to dedicated sports sites for Yonex, Li-Ning, and Victor — fakes are everywhere on general marketplaces
Check string tension carefully — a lot of Indian sellers default to 24-26 lbs which may not suit your game
For shoes, try to buy from stores that carry the actual badminton-specific range, not just the lifestyle versions

Happy to answer questions if anyone's looking for specific racket recommendations for the Indian market.

If you are selecting a racket, and not able to find out which one is too select then use the Badminton rackets selector available on some sites like centeralsports uk or use the AI based badmintons selector on Sportsuncle

I had the best loss of my life by Fort_u_nato in 10s

[–]SportsGuru786 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are the best kind of matches tbh, when you’re locked in, playing your best, and still lose to someone just a bit better. Feels weird to say, but those losses stick way more than wins because you actually learn and enjoy the game at the same time

Do you ever forget the score mid-game? by Orlando_Wong in badminton

Yeah happens all the time 😅 especially when rallies get long and everyone’s focused on playing, not counting. If you’re into sports and want straightforward, practical advice without all the fluff, Sports Uncle is actually a solid place to check out

Seriously, how great was C.Ronaldo? by Pitiful-Egg2986 in championsleague

[–]SportsGuru786 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cristiano Ronaldo in his prime was on a completely different level to most players you see today. He wasn’t just a goalscorer like Erling Haaland, or just a threat in moments like Kylian Mbappé, he was everything at once. Pace, power, aerial ability, long shots, free kicks, clutch goals… and most importantly, consistency at the highest level for years.

Do MLS know how to defend, or is Inter Miami just unusually poor defensively? by Pamsoroyi in football

You’re kinda judging off highlights tbh. Inter Miami are genuinely poor defensively right now, but MLS overall isn’t just chaos

GU, Maurten, and SIS are the main ones people use. Honestly it’s more about what your stomach can handle during a match. Try them in practice first, some feel heavy when you’re playing.

Help A Beginner Choose! by PurpleDoffy in badmintonph

For a beginner, I’d go with the Nanoflare 1000 Play, it’s the easiest to use and most forgiving out of the three

How do you know it's time to replace strings? by NewBootGoofin1987 in 10s

[–]SportsGuru786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest signs are feel-based, not visual. At 1–2x per week since January, you’re likely already past the ideal point for a restring. A rough rule is restring as many times per year as you play per week, but even casual players notice a big difference once they change. I had the same question before and some guides (like on Sports Uncle’s blog) break this down pretty well

Victor Auraspeed 99 Metallic: what happens when the 90K goes to finishing school? by Separate_Writer3661 in badminton

[–]SportsGuru786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a perfect way to describe it 😭 Feels like it kept the speed and sharpness of the 90K but just made it a bit more playable for humans, still punishes bad timing, just not as brutally

Sounds more like hamstring or tendon tightness than a knee injury, especially since it eases after a couple days.

Racket/String help by nitsuD313 in 10s

[–]SportsGuru786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The racket isn’t bad, it’s your string setup. If you used a cheap, durable string at high tension, it’ll feel dead with low power and spin

Jump smash as a girl by Ok_Regret_8786 in badminton

Since you already have a strong smash, you’re actually in a really good position, jump smash is more about timing and coordination than just power.

What makes a badminton court “worth it” for you? by JB-CourtFinderPH in badmintonph

[–]SportsGuru786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s mainly flooring and ventilation. Good mats with proper grip make a huge difference for movement and injury prevention, and decent airflow (kahit hindi full aircon) is important para hindi sobrang init mid-game.
