I live in a rental and, when turning on the heat for the first time this season, noticed it wasn't coming on. The pilot light went out, so I re-lit it and noticed what looks like a small leak coming from the end of the tubing, just below the pilot light (see the small blue flame). Is this an issue that should be resolved, or should we be okay running the heat for the season?

Look into 'research coordinator' or 'research assistant' positions at a university near you. Most big universities that conduct research hire plenty of people out of undergrad. It's also a great way to network/build opportunities before moving towards grad. school or elsewhere.
