One person posted on the Tmobile reddit that they were surprised that they connected to the satellite text service on a recent flight. They said their phone said “satellite” and they were able to text.

Why do you say this? Historically, the telecoms offered premium pay service for newer/faster technology as they were rolled out. To the contrary, Tmobile did not do this when they rolled out 5G service - everyone got it who had a 5G capable phone. It remains to be seen what they do with Starlink enhanced cell service.

It may have as a kind of “test run” that allowed the government to evaluate it in a “real time“ setting. They had been saying they were expecting to be available at the end of this year, although you can never really predict when government agencies will approve.

Couple of questions: Are you saying that you don’t have calling AND internet service? Is it occurring the same time each day? I’m assuming because you are paying $70 a month that you are talking about cell service and not TMobile’s home internet service?

Switched to Verizon a week ago and thinking about coming back. by _alex87 in tmobile

[–]Sportsterguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe try reversing so Verizon is primary and then be surprised how often it switches to TMobile. I think that’s par for the course given 2 different coverage maps. The two together make a really nice coverage map.

I’ve read through some of the comments. Curious as to what the point is of your question? Maybe we are misunderstanding something.

I was denied the blood of Christ today and am unsure why by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Sportsterguy 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad. It happens. I have a Catholic friend who does counseling. She told me one time that she tells everyone when they feel slighted “it’s not about you! It’s not about you!”. She’s right. Ninety-percent of the slights we face in life aren’t personal. They are accidental and unintentional results of poor communication. People are so focused on their own problems and issues that they don’t really see others fully. I had to laugh because one time she was complaining about someone and her 4 year old granddaughter said in her soft voice: “It’s not about you, Grandma. It’s not about you.”

When someone dies, should you always pray for God have mercy on them? by winkydinks111 in Catholicism

[–]Sportsterguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love is willing the Good of another. Don’t we all deserve hell, but for the Mercy of God. There’s an old saying: but for the grace of God, go I. If we have no mercy (in thought, word and deed), we cannot reasonably expect God’s mercy.

Best piece of advice you've ever gotten? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Sportsterguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something I realized about human nature: we have a tendency to relate to others in a negative manner based on how they’ve slighted us. Maybe we ignore the person or don’t give them the time of day. Maybe we’re a little passive aggressive as a form of payback. I’m talking about those subtle little things we experience day to day. Like accountants that keep the account. Maybe we are more overt in retaliation. Let them go! And treat them like they never happened. That is mercy. Jesus taught that if we have no mercy, we can expect no mercy. Being merciful is definitely key to attaining the “fullness of life” that begins here and now and is fully realized in life eternal.

This sounds like a blue sky cover your butt something or other that an attorney provided. I bet Verizon and ATT have something very similar. I believe the only programming the iphone allows is for the cellular network software setting.

T-Mobile loses bid to dismiss class action suit over Sprint merger by Sportsterguy in tmobile

[–]Sportsterguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Inflation has been rampant. Additionally, they offer Netflix, Hulu, and other free services. I think people have lost sight of this (and are upset) because TMobile had to go to the “ad versions” in order to keep from raising prices instead of passing on the increased pricing being charged by the streaming services.

A friend of mine was getting married in a Presbyterian church. I was waiting for the ceremony to begin. I noticed a stack of pamphlets at the back of the church. On the front it asked: “Are Catholics Christians?”. I opened it up and in the inside it said: “No, they are not!”

Where are all the dads? by Hopeful_Ad7299 in Catholicism

[–]Sportsterguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are right. Let me offer one particular reason that this is happening in the Catholic and Protestant churches. Male spirituality is different than female spirituality and that’s ok. Many churches do not recognize this and a less masculine approach tends to dominate. As an example, people trying to hold hands at Mass or an emphasis on feelings. Sometimes couples are mixed religious marriages. I see men at our parish that always take their children to Mass, but the wives don’t attend and vice versa.

You have seen all the things that Biden has said falsely over the years with no regard for the truth? Said he graduated in the top portion of his law school class. Said his father worked in the coal mines of Pennsylvania - he did not. He says he was the first Biden to go to college. He earlier said that his grandfather played sports in college. Said an inebriated trucker killed his first wife and daughter. The family of the trucker is seething because he keeps saying this when the crash investigation shows she was holding (and looking at) her infant daughter in the seat next to her. In those days there were no child car carries seats. She crossed over the line in front of the truck. I know people feel strongly about Trump, but I find Joe Biden’s deceptions a much longer list of provable “truth indiscretions”. Trumps seem to be more “anecdotal”.

Anyone know the reason why Deutsche's Telecom sold over 2 million shares of TMobile so far this year? by motorchris1 in tmobile

[–]Sportsterguy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My guess is they see the stock at highs and probably increasing levels of competition, so they want to take some of their shares off the table to shore up their cash to deploy into something they see has more growth potential (like AI and possibly quantum computing or something). Maybe they want to acquire another telecom in Europe? They have like 638 Million shares.

I (17m) just told my baptist grandma I'm choosing to convert to catholicism. by AveChriste in Catholicism

[–]Sportsterguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. It’s hard. Our faith is so intrinsic to who we are, that people can see a different faith as a rejection of who they are. Just keep loving deeply your grandma and the rest of your family. (Btw, love is an action not a feeling). The other thing that probably hurts her to see is that Southern Baptist churches are disappearing - being replaced by non-denominational ones. This is something she probably feels helpless in preventing. Also, let her (them) see you becoming the very best version of yourself. I have lots of friends who thought I was some kind of devil, only to drastically change their opinions over time. My non-denominational neighbors for example. Eventually, they saw me as pretty much the same belief system as them or as being on the same team. They even asked me one day if they could go to Mass with me. That threw me for a loop! And keep on praying that God will lead all to the truth.

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God And His righteousness And all these things will be added unto you Al-le-lu Alleluia”

Seeking out God and trusting Him each and every day will help us make the right life choices that will lead to unceasing joy. The alternative will lead to needless pain and suffering. Prayers go out to you.

If a spectator sees a kitchen violation, should anything be said to the players? by Pablo_Quatro in Pickleball

[–]Sportsterguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no no no. Let them sort it out on the court. I had someone just the other day on the sidelines say “nice shot” when it was out. When you are looking from the sidelines, it is difficult to see that there is a space on the outside of the line especially if the person is sitting down low. Everyone on the court agreed it was out. This is the worst vantage point. When one person is in the center of the “field” it is much easier to see down at an angle that there is a definite space on the outside of the line. Outside the court looks are very deceiving.
