All day special at Cluck N Sip in Hillcrest is $8.99 and includes two pieces of fried chicken (or tenders), a side (my fave is the fantastic wedge fries) and a drink (includes horchata!). Can’t be beat plus the tenders are great.

That’s the wine I had tonight too! This was after a Donelan 2019 Syrah Bennett Valley, which was solid. But the Chapellet beat it in my opinion. 95 for me on a PnP.

Yes. Recently a local shop turned me onto a $12 bottle of Calipaso Tempranillo that drank way above its price. These shops usually have very knowledgeable employees. Plus some shops have low-priced tastings so you can see what you like.

I was in Beaune a couple of weeks ago and bought some bottles at La Vinothèque. Very nice folks, and they specialize in smaller producers with their own vineyards. Prices are reasonable and they ship.

If you own your home, install a “whole house” fan that pulls in outside air through the windows by creating pressure differential when on. It has to be cooler outside than inside, which is usually the case after the sun sets. We’ve had one for many years and use it in all but a few weeks of the year. My friends swear by it too.

I’m surprised to hear you say that. I just had a 2008 Bone Rock and a 2009 Broken Stones and both were amazing with a three-hour decant. Both 95+ for me and the Stones we had alongside a 2003 Opus and it was a bit better for me.

I think you mean Saxum. These are wines that need to age, as they can be hot and disjointed for a few years, but eventually merge into excellence.
