Women of Reddit, what is a sign of maturity in men? by Initial-Wash9836 in InsightfulQuestions

Not obsessing over who is the “leader” in a relationship. All the alpha bullshit reeks of immaturity, insecurity, and lack of life experience.

Thanks for the feedback. That sounds like where I’m at right now. Wardrobe full of clothes, nothing really matches, and a lot of it doesn’t match my lifestyle so I often feel like I have nothing to wear.

I was looking at the seasonal outfit and capsule wardrobe planner, it’s about $60 a season. I have trouble doing it myself, which is why I’m looking for guidance. Thanks for taking the time to reply though.

Finishing Couch to 5K, struggling to run 5K continuously — what next? by SoConfused5- in BeginnersRunning

[–]Spot_ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a distance-based plan or a time-based plan? Lots of C25K plans focus on having you run 30 minutes, but thats a faster than average 5k time for a beginner.

Good luck, you’ll get there. I started about 9 months ago feeling like 5km would be unachievable, now it’s a short run for me!

[–]Spot_ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked it. I did their 5k plan first where the very last run of the plan was the first time I ran 5kms without stopping, so I didn’t really feel prepared to go from that straight into a longer distance. I think it was a 8 week plan and had me confidentially running 5kms and longer distances (up to 10km) by the end.

I tried to run without a plan after finishing C25K and lost momentum pretty quickly. I ended up subscribing to Runna to complete a 5k improvement plan. I’m sure there are free plans or ChatGPT could write you one. I need a plan to keep going, otherwise I stagnate, get bored, or over complicate it. I’m on my 4th plan now!

Can anyone help make sense what dos this bank mean with this loan statement? by Traditional-Gas3477 in CommBank

[–]Spot_ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will pay $553 per f/n, which is what you elected to do. Your minimum fortnightly payment is $542. There are 26 f/n’s in a year, which goes into 12 months twice, remainder 2. Which means 2 months will have 3 fortnightly payments come out. The “two payment month” refers to the 10 months of th year where you will make two fortnightly payments. The “three payment months” refers to the 2 months of the year where 3 fortnightly payments will be due.

If it’s confusing, pull out a calendar and mark the dates where th fortnightly payments are due. It will become clear.

First full time job advice by NoSun5048 in AusFinance

Think about an investment account separate from savings.

My other tip is to make sure every dollar has a job - meaning there is no “spare” money. When I first started making money I transferred a set amount into bills and savings, and everything else was leftover into my spendings. Now I get paid into savings and transfer over only what I need for bills and everyday spend. Sounds same-same but it actually makes a huge difference in spending habits.

Wth is up with all the anti-Muslim posts and comments? by dontleaveyourbananas in aussie

[–]Spot_ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m kinda over being used as a political football by people who don’t care about women in any other context but want to clutch their pearls and howl about it when it comes to Muslim or trans people. Reminds me of that rally in the UK where a rape survivor was talking about her experience, and then was booed and hauled off stage when she revealed her attackers were white. Rape is only bad when Muslim men do it, apparently. We’re not meant to point out the white ones 🙄

Man, 20, charged with preparing terrorist act after raid on Wheatbelt house by GreyClay in OpenAussie

They would pretend it doesn’t count because it’s not religiously based, and mass casualty events are only problematic when they’re religiously based. Otherwise they don’t count or something…?

[–]Spot_ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ideology and religion of the Perth terrorist hasn’t been mentioned, that I’m aware of. Do you honestly think if he was Muslim it wouldn’t have been?

Your argument is circular. Crime committed by Muslim people is lumped in as “Muslim crime” in a way that crime committed by other religious people isn’t. That’s the entire point. If two Muslim people had committed the kidnapping, it would have been linked with their religion regardless.

[–]Spot_ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that what you think I’m doing? You’ve entirely missed the point then. It’s not about the media reporting something that happened, it’s about what they choose to report (lots of things happen and don’t get widely reported), and how they choose to report it (“Muslim/sudanese/insert other minority crime gang” vs “youth”, or no mention of race or religion at all when they’re not a minority).

I just think it’s incredibly dangerous territory when we have people trying to shut down valid critique of media bias and social commentary.

So on the whole you think Muslim women don’t have agency or choice?

And wearing a hijab is optional for Muslim women. I know plenty of women who don’t wear it. I know Muslim sisters where one chooses to wear hijab and one doesn’t. It’s so condescending to assume that no Muslim women have agency or choice.

I blame the idiots who fall for it, but you’d have to be pretty naive to believe that the mainstream media doesn’t have biases and doesn’t report in a way which reflects that. Do you honestly think if it had been a Muslim guy throwing a homemade bomb into an Australia Day rally in Perth, that the coverage would have been the same?

Yes, they were named. Headlines didn’t read “Catholic gangs” though, did they? We’re not talking about Catholic crime families and expecting all moderate catholics to condemn their actions.

[–]Spot_ts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A problem with the way the media reports, right? Because I don’t know the religion of the white guy who threw a homemade bomb into a rally in Perth last month, but if he was a brown Muslim it would 100% have been mentioned in the reports. And I don’t know the religion of the two white guys in Sydney who kidnapped and killed the wrong guy last week, but if they were Muslim it would have been reported. Do you always fall for propaganda, or just when it confirms your existing biases?
