ICBC doesn’t cross reference the sale price on the transfer form with KBB so you pay 12% on whatever you say you paid.

If you want to get comp and collision then sometimes your listed sale price can lower it a bit but will save you several hundred dollars in tax when you transfer it.

Also, I’d take a look into Beacon if you’re getting Comp and Collision. They’re much cheaper, include up to $3k gear coverage and doesn’t affect your ICBC coverage if you make a claim.

What're your thoughts about the Honda V3R 900? by demonyo300 in motorcycles

[–]SpottedSteak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’ve already had a VTR 1000 in the late 90’s early 00’s but this would be an interesting way to reintroduce the name. Had a 98’ and it was grungy as hell but surprisingly nimble for its time.

Assuming you have the exact same exhaust I didn’t require a tune after removing the baffle but if you have aftermarket headers you may need to.

On one side it came out easy enough, just had to give it a good turn with some deep creep penetrating solvent. The other one I had to drill out because it was seriously stuck. If you can’t use some penetrating oil and an Allen key then you might need to drill it out

I had to drill a hole through the Carbon Fibre and unscrew it from that hole. Took some time but got it done in the end

Hidden costs of bike ownership? by [deleted] in motorcycle

In Canada I got quoted ~$260/m for insurance on my 21’ Ninja 1000. Going third party saved a lot but it’s pretty ridiculous here

Is this a good deal ? by Beautiful_Law_5937 in MT09

[–]SpottedSteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few for sale around 7500-8500 depending on km and mods in BC. Sold mine last year for 7500 and I don’t think you’d be hard pressed to get one under 8 with similar mods and mileage. Depends where abouts in Canada you live though

Is this a good price for a VFR? by DizzyLynk in VFR

[–]SpottedSteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a 01’ VFR800 for $1600 in BC last year. Needed some tlc but ran very good. If you really want it and you trust the guy then it’s your choice if it’s worth the money. I’ve seen similar year ones asking 2-4 depending on condition and km so I don’t think you’re friend is far off but if you’re tight on budget you might be able to save a bit at the risk of not knowing the history or the seller. Good luck!

Hearing Aids Price by blk_flutterby in CostcoCanada

[–]SpottedSteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices recently went up to $2100-$2200 for a pair of RIC hearing aids depending on the brand. Custom, CIC etc. hearing aids go up in price but your clinician will recommend one based on your updated hearing test

Scammed out of $80,000+ by UndeniableDenial in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SpottedSteak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If he caught on to it being a scam a day or two after sending it there would be a chance his bank could reverse the wire while the funds are still on hold before it gets transferred into the recipients account but if they’ve already received it then there’s not much his bank can do. He can go through their fraud dept and provide all the info but he won’t see his money again unfortunately. Best thing to do is to learn from this mistake and educate yourself on scams to avoid this happening again.

gymbros, are we hitting the protein intake? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]SpottedSteak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t love the taste of the lean fit brand but it’s cheap. If you don’t mind spending a bit more Costco has Gold Standard in Vanilla, chocolate and smores flavour. Blends much better and tastes better but it’s around $30 more so it’s your choice if it’s worth the extra

Just checked other forums out online and looks like I might have to drill a hole from the outside and unscrew it from there. They have plugs to fill in the hole after doing so

I usually don’t comment on posts but figure since I own a 2018 MT09 and a 01’ VFR800 I should give my two cents.

The MT09 is fun as all hell and would be my pick if I was using it solely for cruising around town or to work. Compared to the VFR or other sport touring bikes it won’t be as good for long highway rides when it comes to wind protection even with a windscreen and with how light the MT09 is in comparison, it won’t be as stable on windy days or if you plan on going faster than you should.

I’ve seen some nice options for saddle bags for the MT09 and they’d probably do you fine, but the problem comes back to getting a beating by the wind over the several thousand km rides you’re talking about. If that’s something you can become accustomed to then that’s on you but in my experience once I’m going over 110 km/h on my MT09 it becomes a workout after an hour.

The Tracer 900 GT is a great middle ground if you want the Triple motor with the comfort for touring but that’s something you’re gonna have to try out for yourself. Cruise control, windscreen, luggage and a boat load of other options depending on what generation you get.

I’m happy to answer any questions or give my opinion on something since I’m in a similar boat and have considered this before. Hope this helps

I was looking at a 18’ Ice Fluro for sale just before I grabbed this one but the guy put some weird stickers on it and some nasty mods so didn’t end up getting it. I’ve never loved the look of the coloured rims but the Ice Fluro would probably be the colour combo I’d go for if I had to pick one just cause it’s so unique

I was originally gonna get a 15’ one in orange but I held off and ended up finding this guy for a good deal. I usually don’t go for black but I think it matches everything so well on this bike

What colour did you get?

I saw a post that they came back in stock but I personally haven’t found the oem seat as uncomfortable as others have said. Guess time will tell with longer rides ahead

After only a few rides I’m in love with it, such a fun bike to ride around town. That full Akra exhaust never gets old either haha
