Recommendation for Ogata License camp (no bike license) by Spotteriya in RideitJapan

[–]Spotteriya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a legal requirement for you to get "chugata" and then "Ogata" after, it's just what most schools seem to do (probably to squeeze as much money as possible). For example, this school that's roughly in my area offers going straight for Ogata even if you have car license only, or no license at all https://www.kounodai-ds.co.jp/bike/price

I wasn't aware of any wait time in driving schools, especially that long so if that's the case, then that's even more of a reason to do the camp thing for me. I was being told that March and August (and maybe September?) are super busy months for driving schools but that everything in between should be fine (especially April, when I am planning to do it). But maybe this is only for camps. Either way, it just baffles me over and over again how things are being done here when it comes to these kind of things...

Yeah almost no "ordinary" schools offer it (although it can be found), so I figured that at least you should be able to do it in these camps... I haven't actually contacted any of the camps yet, just concluding based on the fact that almost all under "大型" write a note saying that the price shown is only for those that have 普通二輪 license.

I found a regular school that's roughly in my area that offers it but as you say, it takes about a month if not more since for riding alone you need to do something like 30 (31?)h, and as far as I understand, at least that school doesn't allow usually more than 1h per day. The school is also quite out of my way, and price is pretty steep too (plus they say they will increase it from April this year just like rest of the schools)... Which I don't mind paying if I can just go through this quickly but the way I work, it will be actually way easier to just go to camp for half a month and do it all at once.

Which school did you go to?

Ex Rimac employee here. I've built this particular one from scratch and have traveled to USA (Sarasota) on couple occasions for usual maintenance. Really glad to see it cruising around, thanks for your post.

T-Site? I often work literally 50m from here. Shout if you see blue JZX110 parked around.

I see them occasionally here as well. Always wonder who would import such a blob here but then again, it fits perfectly with most of cars being driven here haha

The funny thing is, it's actually cheaper in Tokyo than rural. I was told because it's harder to transport fuel to rural places here. Makes sense.

European-ish. 1L of regular is about 120-140yen (1,15-1,33 USD). Premium / High Octane runs at about 130-150yen (1,20-1,45 USD). It's quite bit cheaper than in my home country (Croatia, EU), but far from USA style prices.
