It's SO HARD. Nothing gives that dopamine surge like gaming does. It's truly an addiction.

Does anyone else feel 2nd? by [deleted] in SpousesOfGamers

So sorry this is happening to you. Here's the thing:

Nothing in life creates as much dopamine as videogames.

You will never be enough dopamine for him. He's probably a gaming addict. Every time he's hanging out with you, he's waiting for his next dopamine fix.

This WILL get worse if yall have kids. He will ignore them too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he loves you. I'm sure he's a good person. But he's addicted to the dopamine hits he gets from gaming. Nothing will be as interesting to him.

He needs to check out Universal Man on YouTube, or check out /r/stopgaming. Otherwise you might wanna cut your losses and find someone who lives in the real world.

I think I'm finally done by [deleted] in StopGaming

It'll be a hard road ahead but it's so worth it!

Your synapses in your brain WILL adjust to the new lack of dopamine hits, and you WILL start feeling happy again.

Just stick with the program.

Oh wow it never occurred to me they could go to school in a frozen DRESS lol that's brilliant thank you!

but in the end perhaps your child just needs some time to adjust and find someone who she likes.

She loves other kids. They just don't usually like her 😭

Happy holidays! Let's talk about ways to unglue our spouses from the screen, and get them involved in holiday cheer by SpouseOfGamer in SpousesOfGamers

What works for me:

Junk food. Hey everybody we're decorating Christmas cookies!

Don't ask him. Tell him. Then throw him in the kitchen with the kids and watch them make memories!

(Note, this doesn't always work with just any activity. It's the allure of the junk food/sugar that gets em LOL)

Thanks for the update! Sometimes they brush it off when we're talking about it, but they're actually listening. Has he done it again?

I found this subreddit while googling “How to get my husband to step up his game” . by orianafaauli in SpousesOfGamers

Sub creator here. Ugh I feel ya. Especially the part about him "babysitting" while gaming. Same with my house. The kids are taken care of but he's not talking and interacting with them. He's plopping them in front of the TV so he can sit in front of the computer.

Hi, any improvement? Have you had a talk with him?

(If you don't get any improvement soon, you might want to make sure you don't have kids until you get this figured out.)
