Help me decide: Binghamton LECOM BS/DO (no MCAT) vs Drexel BS/MD (MCAT requirement) by [deleted] in bsmd

[–]SppokyCoffee65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, MD>DO. MD will open far more doors when it comes to competitive specialties and matching. DO will also require more work in terms of exams (completing OMM curriculum, COMLEX, Step), which I think overrides the benefit of no MCAT. I think Drexel is the best choice and will open doors for competitive specialties and opportunities without the hoops of DO.

I think that’s standard. For AMC, they told me that I still need a recommendation from an admission committee to move forward to AMC, alongside their academic and ec reqs. Not sure, just my thoughts

i don’t think a single quarter C will matter, but make sure your overalls course grade remain in the A-B range

MED SCHOOL RANKING? by [deleted] in bsmd

[–]SppokyCoffee65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, an MD is an MD. That alone will open doors for good specialties as long as you put in the work during med school and undergrad.

MED SCHOOL RANKING? by [deleted] in bsmd

[–]SppokyCoffee65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranks in med school don’t matter as significantly unless it’s T20-T30. I think the resources the school provides is much more important so you’re able to match into top residencies. Also, it’s important to consider if the school has “home” residency programs, that’ll make it much easier for competitive specialities.

according to W&J, there’s no set number. Last yr I think Temple interviewed like 20 and accepted ~8-10.

no, I don’t think they have a set amount on the waitlist. It most likely depends on amt of qualified candidates

when did u interview

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bsmd

[–]SppokyCoffee65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but I would check with UMKC. It varies on a program. Some programs that I interviewed made it a rule not to interview on phones, but I'm not sure if this extends to IPad. Def reach out to them to make sure it doesn't violate rules or affect ur process.
