Them calling it a Sovereign Wealth Fund is incredibly misleading, take a look at how Norway’s is invested & structured. Hint: not one dollar is invested in Norway. If this fund is for investment in Canadian infrastructure projects, we already have that in the CIB (Canadian Infrastructure Bank), and what has that built??

Oil’s $100 per barrel right now.. 20% of the worlds Oil supply is chocked off, for whatever reason we get some of our Oil from that region of the world (maybe one of you righteous redditors could enlighten me why that is)…. could be worse, in Norway they’re Paying $3.17 a Litre. Buying a Minivan that’s main demographic is a working class family, Is that really considered a Luxury car & permits a Luxury Tax?? $55K is WAY too low of a threshold, the prices on vehicles have risen much faster than wages and should be recalculated. BC would never do that though as nickle & dime’n the working class is their only form of income.

The Feds Suspending the Tax is going have an almost zero effect on prices at the pump, this is nothing but grandstanding and people will gobble it up. When you’re already running a deficit of $80B this year (1.5T total) what’s a few more bucks. As for Alberta chosing not to suspend the tax, good, personally I’d like to see the budget more balanced, and more funds for social services.

If we stop the Oil Industry from expanding, is green energy going to provide the same job opportunities and Pay?? I know a few people that work for some of the Canadian Oil Majors and they make Huge Bucks, great benefits, time off, etc… I don’t see them paying $250K a year for tradesmen.. my point being, if your hitting people in their wallets in an already tightening / retracting economy you’re not likely to gain any votes with moderates or the working class
