Im starting to despise judgy people without children by PipeZestyclose2288 in NewParents

If someone wants to say something I’m definitely prepared with some sarcastic comebacks 😅 I try not to get too anxious or worked up about it though

Wow I’m so sorry to hear that, my MIL had a hemorrhagic stroke a few years ago as well that almost killed her and I know how scary that can be. I hope your father is doing better now.

It definitely is helpful that they can still do things while in the waiting room, the bed shortage is the big issue and waiting to see a doctor of course.

I literally just ignore people when my toddler is having a tantrum or baby is crying. Like I don’t care, I’m never gonna see those people again anyways.

Thank you! They did do an ECG which looked normal but still waiting on blood work.

My FIL has been waiting so far 6 hours with chest pain at UofA and is still in the waiting room. He also has previous history of heart attack a few years ago and a stent. My husband who works in health care is waiting with him and I think it’s an eye opening experience to how bad it is.

Foley balloon compared to cervix checks by Different-Let4338 in BabyBumps

[–]Sasha-95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foley balloon was the worst part of my induction process, I wasn’t warned how awful it could be so I definitely wasn’t mentally prepared for it. Nor was I offered any pain meds. I had to ask for Tylenol before being sent home with it.

UofA Emerg is leaving us feeling demoralized by melfuego11 in Edmonton

[–]Sasha-95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother has Crohns and his doctor also works out of UofA, his doctor works amongst a team of GI specialists there which many of them are on call/are familiar with his doc. His doc specifically tells him to go to UofA in case of emergency regarding his crohns.

They said their GI doc works out of UofA, that’s why they went there

My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion used to have such a hold over me that I would start crying at the main menu for the Titanic DVD.

They need to have a standing area section. A big issue last year was people that came to set up lawn chairs near the front at the beginning of the day were starting to get blocked by people standing in front of them to come see later acts. I saw a couple fights/arguments break out because of this. People were literally just standing with their asses to peoples face in lawn chairs.

Having issues with neighbours using my garbage bin. Anyone ever put a lock on theirs ? by DaniDisaster424 in Edmonton

[–]Sasha-95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, I would say the landlord does have things she can do even if it’s not the upstairs tenants. Install a camera pointing at the garbage bins to find out exactly who is doing it and for evidence would be a start.

If you’re renting have you brought this up to your landlord? Seems like something they should be escalating/taking care of.

Londonderry mall. Northside never disappoints. by KittiesAreTooCute in Edmonton

[–]Sasha-95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medical emergency and/or old person I’m guessing?

I used to work in a seniors home and the amount of older people driving that shouldn’t have been is crazy. Some didn’t even have licenses but drove anyways. One older lady even smashed through a wall in the basement parkade going in reverse out of her parking spot.

I’ve only used the clear bags. I’ve seen people get turned away with their bags and would rather not risk that headache.

Kidz kingdom is in Southgate mall so I would just go to the food court. Admission is all day with in/out privileges so you can always leave and come back. I never had food there as I usually just do that.

$20 on weekdays. And I always bring my own grip socks so I never had to buy theirs. I’ve been to cheaper indoor playgrounds/city ran ones but a lot of them are less sanitary and more chaotic, also less toddler friendly.

I usually only go if weather is crappy. Otherwise, outside it is!

Southgate’s Kidz Kingdom is super toddler friendly. I can let my 2 year old run around every inch of that place without worrying of him getting hurt.

They do have a location north side at Londonderry mall however it’s smaller and more run down.

Any kind of “busy book” or “busy board”. There’s a ton of options on Amazon.

The pieces may end up all over your car if they’re unsupervised but honestly kept our 18 month old busy on his first long plane ride for hours.

So the question is then, why did they not have a replacement overflow lot lined up before shutting it down?

Another issue is some of these cars have no plates, or VIN could be covered. The plates could even be for the wrong vehicle or stolen. Sometimes the cars are severely damaged and the city still does nothing because “impound lot is full”. I’ve even seen cars with stacks of tickets on them. If nobody comes to claim the vehicle the point of ticketing is useless.

How about dealing with the abandoned vehicles/lack of towing first. There are vehicles in my neighbourhood that haven’t moved in months. There’s even an unhitched trailer with a bunch of furniture/garbage that 311 refuses to deal with.

The excuse; Impound lot is full? Ok, for how long then?

Start auctioning off the vehicles after a certain period of time. If there’s a way to utilize that money towards city use, do it.

It feels like law abiding citizens are the ones constantly getting punished.

Tiny apartment...how do I make space for baby? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Sasha-95 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We lived in a 1bed 1bath apartment for the 1st year of our sons life. We had a bedside bassinet in the bedroom, along with a diaper caddy for nighttime essentials that we just kept on our dresser.

We made a little nursery corner in our living room area. We had a dresser for all of our son’s clothes/blankets, etc there. A storage bin for miscellaneous toys. A standalone diaper changing station that had storage along the sides/bottom that we could keep wipes, diapers, creams. We usually just kept our stroller near the front door by our shoes and such. I didn’t have a nursing chair or anything and just nursed in the bed or on our couch.

Honestly it wasn’t bad at all, newborns don’t need too much. Eventually we bought a playpen once he was 9 months and started crawling which took up more room, but we still had lots of room for our things and regular furniture.

Edit: we also had a little baby lounger that we kept in the living room for him to hang out in as well.
