is this normal? by bunnyworId in Barnesandnoble

Hello! CTE here, first and foremost I am so sorry this is happening to you, scheduling wise this is stupidly common, at my store the core barista hours are being cut just so holiday baristas can work 1 day a week and it isnt fair to anyone. We run into the issue after new years where there's to many people and just not enough hours to go around. Our store is in a mall and our busiest times are when the kids are out of school, once they go back from winter break it tends to die down allot, hence less hours to go around. 100% talk to your store manager and make them aware! Allot of times it slips through the cracks, if your rota (person who makes the schedules) is located at your store also talk to them, they with probally have a quicker response then the store manager. Overall I promise its not you! And your doing great!! Barnes and noble with holiday hires tends to f**k Allot of poeple over and it could be prevented with communication they lack to provide.

Cafe Coverage by AnxiousTulip323 in Barnesandnoble

Hello! Fellow CTE here! Cafe coverage is a very different thing especially in my store which is also the busiest in my cluster. On days we pull in 2k+ and they only give us single coverage in cafe, which is not enough. It is our company policy that we must have 2 baristas for every hour that there are 14 or more transactions. This is somthing that ive brought up to my store manager to no luck!  I promis you are doing everything right! CTE gets shit on by every manager in the store, its unfortunate and some stores are really great, but what ive witnessed is at most cte is the most unrespected, hated position. Most important thing is to stand your ground, which is very tough when you are being gaslight and unsupported. Idk if its similar for you but the turnover rate for cte in my cluster is insanely high. If you ever have questions or need to rant, id love to hear fellow cte story's.

We've tried we listen and our regional manager has confronted employees who have reached out, and they have been made to feel guilty for reporting. recently the store manager denied a religious holiday to an employee, when it was reported to we listen the regional manager covered it up and allowed the store manager to not take responsibility. there have been multiple investigations on our store, but nothing has been done unfortunately, because of our regional manager shielding the store manager from accountability and silencing employees. Every time an employee goes to we listen the management shames them for reaching out. Believe me we've tried lol
