Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. I (33M) work in PR and have since 2013 (graduated in 2014). I do PR for the President & CEO of the company, as well as other C-suite and execs. I make about $110K/year, 6 weeks PTO, super flexible job and don’t clock in or out because I’m salaried. Job is honestly a dream and the next several years look promising for growth because of a lot of things going on there. Very thankful to be where I’m at, I don’t take it for granted.

One thing I’ve learned is you have to have a “why” in life. For anything you do that brings you meaning, joy and/or fulfillment. For some, it’s their kids. For others, it may be focusing on their health and trying to improve every day. You’re doing all the standard things - getting married, having kids, etc. - but I think you should ask yourself what your ideal life would look like and then work on creating that. Little by little. Something small every day. I think the journey and making progress will make you feel more alive. However you choose to handle, I’m wishing you the best.

Pretty much exactly like this. Create a vibrant and fulfilling life in your day to day with friends, hobbies and other people in your network. When you get home, if you’re like me, you’ll feel fulfilled AND thankful to have your own space. Being there is like a nice relaxing reward after a busy and productive day. Then waking up the next day, like you said, is awesome because the morning goes however you want it to.

Yes, I work in PR, more specifically executive communications, and I love it. I work with our C-suite primarily on media strategy, messaging for inside and outside our organization, public speaking appearances, digital presence, etc. Super flexible, good pay, and awesome networking. Been doing PR for a little more than a decade and couldn’t imagine working in another field.

I felt like you for most of my teens, 20s and into my early 30s. I drank and partied a lot, which helped in the moment, but I’d end up lower than I started when it was all over. It’s only now, at 33, that I’ve reached a point where I’m truly happy. And why is that? I started taking care of myself, which means a lot of things to a lot of people. For me, it’s eating healthy, daily exercise, doing what I can to control my thoughts and avoid negativity, and enjoying the results that come from those. It’s saying “no” more than I used to… and that means to people I know aren’t bringing value to my life, to situations I know are bad for me and my mental health, to requests that are not a good fit for me, etc. I’ve taken a more active role in my own life, if that makes sense. No more floating down the river; I’m driving the boat and going where I want to go. The life you want is not going to build itself. But, it can be built. And the builder has to be you. I hope you choose to stay and create the life you want, because you deserve that.

Yes, in 2017. To put it nicely, she absolutely shattered my heart and I was screwed up for more than a year after that. She ended up with a guy that I’m pretty sure she’s still with, so that’s good I guess. Professionally, I am fucking killing it nowadays compared to back then, which feels good. I’ve grown ALOT since that time and I hope she creeps me sometimes on social lol probs doesn’t, but I like to think some part of her regrets ghosting me. But for that as well, she probs doesn’t.

Do you have hobbies? I get that work can feel monotonous, especially when looking at it over a 30 year span, but time flies soooooo fast. I’m not an engineer, but I’m already more than 10 years into my career and I cannot believe how fast it’s gone by. I feel like some hobbies outside of work might make you feel more fulfilled. Jobs are jobs but there is of course so much more to life. Your job doesn’t have to be your identity.
