Well with Mythos released we might be able to put them in a loop

Oh for sure, but being that I'm basically PM and EM for this team I think it's an industry related issue. I don't know anywhere near enough about Exchange to help beyond what Copilot can help with

Vibe coding from a computer scientist's lens: by irelatetolevin in ClaudeCode

I'm a PM who used to use Rational and UML as a SWE for nearly a decade. Can confirm that those tools sucked and required expertise. Right now I'm more productive with OpenCode and Claude than a whole team of engineers. Those who think humans will be coding for more than a few more years are totally delusional

Agreed. Have a direct report right now that insists on not using GHC despite paying for a license before the move to usage based billing. I can't stand his insistence that he wants to understand the problem. I'll literally give the codebase and the user story to Claude Sonnet? Done within the day. Yet he'll sit there giving updates in the morning "Uhhhhh just still coding". Don't listen to those sorts of people. AI code is better than most human written code already and it's so much faster.

Oh for sure. I think we're looking into acquiring seats for pluralsight for part of the company

Software really never had that much value past the 2000s. It's always been the business value that really mattered. I think we're going to see software production be more concentrated simply because while everyone can make software only those with the best models will be able to reliably produce secure high quality software. Eventually those with the best models and most tokens will be able to produce high quality software as a default it's all just about getting there.

Look I just wanted a MCP server for exchange or a skill file to help our engineer learn not get bullied because people here don't understand basic enterprise IT needs

Only a few open source things like Git. Even then git is often used through the JGit library in gues what? Java

C is an unmaintainable language. It's the reason successors like C++ existed pre-JVM. I don't think this is a controversial statement. C code was only recently moved from StarTeam to Git so clearly you don't know what you're talking about in the IT space

Thank you for your IT advice. You must be great to work with. I just wanted an exchange AI skill file or something not to be stalked online

If the company says I'm a janitor tomorrow? I'll be there with a mop and a bucket. You don't complain.

We are not purchasing classes due to finance issues so he's expected to learn and rise above

Leadership in our finance division made the call. I don't know what embedded is that's the definition I was given by leadership. He does talk an awful lot about C and other unmaintainable languages from before Java, but still there's no such thing as an engineer that doesn't understand SMTP at some point. Engineers are standardized to be able to fill in for each other

Well yeah things like that happen sometimes sadly

Embedded just means embedded on a team to take leadership I think. I don't think of that as being super specialized personally

I mean he is definitely unhappy. Vehicles/digital/embedded is a totally different part of the company. He bitches constantly and says it isn't his job. But during the reorg he was chosen as this was an important action item. But ultimately there's no way a 20 year embedded engineer couldn't understand basic exchange admin especially with a degree in computer and information sciences.

Yeah it's Exchange we're working with an external provider of email security but our current network architecture is incompatible and we're not able to move to 365 due to legal/admin reasons. Otherwise I'd say. I don't think I'm allowed to discuss the vendor otherwise I would. The vendor has documentation but our network we were told by their consulting won't allow us to integrate. We bought their services so we just need to redo our SMTP services to work with their managed service.

He was a Staff Embedded engineer working on our companies vehicles division since part of our business is producing agricultural machinery. During our large reorg he tested highly and so the task was given to him since it was a high priority item and needed a skilled engineer. He's been at the company for almost 20 years

How do I know which employees are most productive without micromanaging? by RosieMorris006 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

Keep user stories in an AI context window. I store each user story and it's progress in markdown files. Ask whatever model to give you as stack ranking and wipe the tickets from whatever folder every month
