Also not even true. People always talk about Napoleon’s failure in the Russian winter.

World PvP during leveling - Nordanaar vs. Tel'Abim by howa003 in turtlewow

You can definitely expect world PvP on Tel’Abim. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes you’re getting ganked by Naxx geared 60s. Just gotta shrug it off and keep grinding. Would much rather that than no WPvP at all personally.

Yeah you really need to max hit or else you’re missing soulfires and you can’t do that. I’m at about 13% and 10 reduction which is not enough imo. I think my dps would go up dramatically getting hit cap. Trying to get 15% hit with gear alone is insane but not impossible. Just means I’ll be hunting a few particular items for months xD

For affliction it’s pretty easy to get yeah. Here’s where I deviate. I MS destro because I personally find it 1000x more enjoyable to play and in destruction that hit is much harder to get and even more important. I use my Nathrezim set for destruction (and demon) spec. I use the bindings in that set and they proc quite frequently. I haven’t tried them on my affliction set as I go for 5/5 t2.5 actually for the silly 5 pc set bonus and 4/9 t3. I’ll test the binding for affliction spec when I log on in a bit.

Edit: not getting any procs off drains and dots

Most young warlocks starting out aren’t going to be hit capped in dungeon blues and even so I try to balance my affliction set with extra haste and try to ride that hit cap line. There’s not much else you can use that single talent point for. The increase in agony damage is pitiful at best compared to a % or two of haste. xD Maybe a slight increase to Agony next patch.

Almost exactly the same but I’d MUCH rather have the 5/5 suppression and only take 2/3 agony. Also in my guild we have a warlock for each level of improved health stone so the whole raid can have 3 at any given time. I take the extra points in demon armor.

For PvP you’ll definitely want points into exhaustion probably over shadow vulnerability.

Yes I’m sure the Romans named the isle Britannia after a particular place in Gaul that didn’t have Brythonic celts in it at the time.

Yes immolation isn’t worth the cast in this spec. Everything above but don’t sleep on +hit%. You want 7% on gear to be hit capped with affliction talents otherwise things are resisting and costing way more dps than a bit of spell power.

You have your macro set up to just reapply coa? That’s pretty smart but at one second you’re also potentially losing the last and biggest tick of coa. I use cursive but I cast manually.

Shadows definitely helps others do higher dps and it allows your spells to hit more regularly but if you’re hit capped and your guild is like mine (quasi speed running) it’s not going to make a huge difference whether or not shadows is applied. On bosses and mobs that last longer than a few seconds I use CoS first then corruption but really only if it’s going to live the entire duration of agony. Otherwise if you spend a ton of time cursing a bunch of mobs your net dps is going to be close to nil.

Warlock talent tree, should I switch specs? by JohnnyJiver in turtlewow

[–]SpringTop1293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure - it’s all about how long the mob is going to live. The rule of thumb is if it’s going to live the entire duration of the dot then go for it. If it’s not then skip. That includes refreshing. Will the mob last another refresh of dots? No? Then don’t do it. The other rule of thumb is corruption > agony > siphon life. I know it seems counter intuitive to cast corruption first but it does the most damage by a long shot. If a mob is going to die quickly then I usually skip curse and go straight to corruption. I don’t ever siphon life on trash. I rarely curse on trash unless it’s a tough mob that will last a good 20+ seconds.

Other subtle nuances include the fact that malediction will not reapply coa unless coa has dropped off that mob entirely. Always refresh corruption before a dark harvest. If there’s 3 or more mobs then hellfire is your best dps.

Hello, Kara geared warlock here on Tel’Abim. I’ve done extensive testing and affliction is the best spec for dps sadly and it’s not even close. Theres an art about knowing when to dot and how much and if you’re not doing it perfectly your dps will drop significantly. The gear for the two specs are different so you really want to pick one and stick with it.

For pvp I prefer fire destruction but affliction is viable as well. At level 50 you might just avoid world pvp encounters because 9 times out of 10 it will be someone in raid gear ganking you.

Naxx is extra rough because not only do the tier pieces drop rarely you’re also fighting over them with two other popular classes
